Re: Problems Updating Windows 10 App Essentials Add-on
Hi, It does. There were changes made to Add-on Updater in recent builds based on what's happening with alpha snapshots. There is a pull request that's being reviewed for NVDA (not mine) that can affect Add-on Updater and other add-ons in a major way. Cheers, Joseph

I had exactly the same issue. I reinstalled the updater and it seems to work again. Maybe Joseph knows where the error comes from.

I switched to debugging so that hopefully this will provide enough information. I'm only pasting in the part of the log from where I run the Add-on Updater. If more information is required I can paste the entire log if necessary.

Re: NVDA not giving accurate feedback
I should also ask whether you are using the laptop
or desktop layout. The commands to change these modes are different.
NVDA v has nothing to do with this. it is a browse mode option.

Is there a good discussion between the difference of screen
navigation and object navigation? Is this what nvda-V toggles? There are vvsome
parts of NVDA that I just try different options until one works and I have not
learned a consistent efficient way to use. That being said, NVDA now and for the
foreseeable future for me will be the least used of the screen readers I
use on a daily basis.

Re: NVDA not giving accurate feedback
There are discussions of screen navigation and object navigation.
Others will assumedly tell you where to find them. How good they are is
something you will have to decide. But at a minimum, you need to know how
to switch from screen to object navigation and back because if screen navigation
is on, it affects what you see at times when you are using standard arrow
commands. I have repeatedly said that NVDA should automatically switch to
object navigation if someone uses screen navigation in one window and then moves
to another where he/she is unlikely to want to continue to use it. I have
strong feelings about this because most people won't know the results of
remaining in screen navigation and they will have problems for no reason they
can discern. For example, NVDA doesn't read the headers line properly in
Windows Live Mail if you are in screen mode. It may not read the line you
are on when moving in a list of files and folders or on the desktop. I
consider this to be very bad design and a very bad decision
concerning the functioning of NVDA. You don't build something that causes
problems when left on that most people don't know will cause problems and have
it automatically stay on.

Re: Problems Updating Windows 10 App Essentials Add-on
Hi, Okay, which NVDA version and Add-on Updater release are you all running? I can't reproduce this on Add-on Updater 19.0.1A running on latest NVDA alpha build. Cheers, Joseph

Yes fix this issue! It’s annoying having to always invoke the Go to Details command in Bard Express! If the issue werefixed, it’d make thebrowsing of Bard Express somuchefficient! Currantly it only reads the title, author and a fraction of the annotation then jumps to the narrator. *** Jesus says, follow me and I'll help you through the rough spots. the world says, hey come with me. Re: TW BLUE was Re: [nvda] twitter?
One last question on NVDA and TW Blue. Is there a way to save a photo which has been attached to a tweet and save it to my hard-drive?
Also, it would be good to share this knowledge on a twitter group.

To see replies to a tweet, the Win+Alt+C creates a buffer with all of the conversation in it – the buffer is placed immediately to the left of the home buffer so you just
need to use the Win+Alt+Left Arrow to navigate to it…assuming you’re using the Windows 10 default keyboard that is.
I don’t know of a way to view the whole conversation from a retweet though!
For both of your questions I'd give the same answer. I'm not aware of any way to see a thread (nor replies to a specific tweet) using TWBlue.
It'd be a very nice feature, though, what makes me consider talking to the guy programing it for now and see if he'd accept our suggestions.

Two questions on TW-Blue.
How does one access a thread? Say if someone retweets a thread, I can’t figure out how to go to it. The most I can do is search for that person’s
user handle, go to their timeline and hunt for it there, but even then, it’s not really a thread as much as going down their timeline.
The second question is how do you view replies to a tweet? I know there’s a view conversation and that’ll place the selected tweet in the
search listview tree at the bottom, but even then, there’s really nothing there. I can open the tweet with the shift+control+V command, but that just shows the tweet info. No replies.
I’ve also been thinking of giving OpenTween a try, but thought I’d try to figure out these pretty basic features in TW_Blue first.

I'd suggest updating TW Blue because certain API calls no longer work from Twitter because Twitter has shut them down and did a bunch of other things to put a strangle hold on their API. If you don't update TW Blue I fear you will start to have countless bugs.
Also, TW Blue is developed by blind people so it will always remain accessible to NVDA and other screen readers. What I've been trying to figure out, partly for an investigative article and partly because I am curious, is, why window eyes was not released
as open source after the company was bought out. Anyway, upgrade your TW Blue.

I had exactly the same issue. I reinstalled the updater and it seems to work again. Maybe Joseph knows where the error comes from.

If more information is required I can paste the entire log if necessary.

What I've been trying to figure out, partly for an investigative article and partly because I am curious, is, why window eyes was not released as open source after the company was bought out. Anyway, upgrade your TW Blue.

Re: NVDA not giving accurate feedback
Is there a good discussion between the difference of screen navigation and object navigation? Is this what nvda-V toggles? There are some parts of NVDA that I just try different options until one works and I have not learned a consistent
efficient way to use. That being said, NVDA now and for the foreseeable future for me will be the least used of the screen readers I use on a daily basis.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Brian's Mail list account
I thought that add on had its own updater built in so it should not be seen in add on updater. Brian

NVDA Future Improvements Survey - Users, make your voice heard
Given some recent discussions here, I thought it couldn't hurt to repost this. This survey is from NVAccess and it uses Google Forms: NVDA Future Improvements SurveyIf you are an NVDA user and wish to have your voice heard with regard to the future direction and priorities in NVDA, then take the time to take the survey. --

Problems Updating Windows 10 App Essentials Add-on
As the subject states I'm having trouble updating this add-on. I'm attempting to update the add-on using the Add-on Updater. I will paste in my log to see if anyone has any ideas. I switched to debugging so that hopefully this will provide enough information. I'm only pasting in the part of the log from where I run the Add-on Updater. If more information is required I can paste the entire log if necessary.

is the functionality of the Enhanced Aria addon already included in the NVDA

I am wondering if the addon is still needed with NVDA 2018.4.1.

Re: audio recorder with screen reader accessibility:
Shame this wasn't an open source project. I use Audacity to record my voice and sound output because virtual recorder doesn't fully work in the latest windows 10. There's a ongoing bug where audio is constantly out of sync when trying to record from both the sound card and Microphone. Hopeful someone will release an open source version of a similar program. He was a very good programmer and he will be missed.

Re: Norwegian 8 dot braille table used by nvda
Thank you. I plan to let the table no-no-comp8.ctb contain only the 256 possible braille patterns whith unique character to each, and put all other characters in the no-no-8dot.utb. So please go on with the change.
Thaks

Hi, Ah, this is similar to Unified English Braille table migration a few years back. There are two options I can think of: 1. Replace the old one with the new table (the original suggestion). 2. Combine the tables together somehow - that is, merge the old table into the new one, keeping the file name the same. When the Norwegian library for braille and audio did a big job with all Norwegian tables, they created a table with lots of additions to the computer braille, and put that stuf in a separate file called no-no-8dot.utb. Thanks a lot for creating the issue.
