I'd suggest updating TW Blue because certain API calls no longer work from Twitter because Twitter has shut them down and did a bunch of other things to put a strangle hold on their API. If you don't update TW Blue I fear you will start to have countless bugs. Also, TW Blue is developed by blind people so it will always remain accessible to NVDA and other screen readers. What I've been trying to figure out, partly for an investigative article and partly because I am curious, is, why window eyes was not released as open source after the company was bought out. Anyway, upgrade your TW Blue.

Seconded.  This should be the first thing included in this sort of query if said page is not behind a login.

You can't fix what you can't reproduce.  Heck, sometimes you can't grasp exactly what's happening without trying it out yourself to see if you encounter the same issue.

As an aside, any time something like this occurs the first thing anyone should do as a diagnostic step is to try the same page with a different browser.  This often immediately isolates the source of the problem to either the browser or the screen reader, or at least gives some strong indications as to the root cause.

Brian,
I'm into almost all the lists you've mentioned, except BlindLife. By the way, what's the subject of this one?
And about fragmentation in many lists, well, it's a problem , in my view.
That would be much better if we could have one or two lists about tech for the blind.
This way, I'm sure more people would have more information on the subject, considering that what's said on a list maybe won't be said on another and so on.
Well but after all, that's the way the cookie crumbles, isn't it?

Good Afternoono:  I was working with a computer that didn't have a ssd in it a year ago.  My experience was I had to wait between letters when write a message in a emaikl message.  When reading anything my wait time between words was as much as 5 to 10 seconds between words.  In that years time you have seen a lot difference.  I'm using nvda in my computer.  My sighted son could even see 1 to seconds between words when reading anything, no matter how much memory the program took up.  You can go
Onto the web and find referbished computers.  I can tell you that a lot of the market has gone to SSD.

That is a general statement and is not correct if you run a synthesizer that is not computer intensive.  I don't know how much more work it is to run an intensive synthesizer but because of slower response time while working with one, many blind people run a very responsive synthesizer such as Eloquence for actual working with the computer.  They use one of the newer more intensive synthesizers for listening to things where they will be just listening such as reading a book.

A screen-reader when used with a synthesizer like Eloquence is not intensive.  I don't know whether an SSD increases responsiveness of the newer kind of synthesizer but my point is that you needn't buy a much more expensive machine to use a screen-reader as I've described.  If you do, and if you benefit from doing so when you use a more intensive synthesizer for everything, you then have to consider the extra money you spent on the computer as part of the cost of the synthesizer and it may be unreasonable.  I'm also not saying that getting a really fast computer would make newer synthesizers more responsive, I don't know.  I'm talking about cost/benefit.

Dear Noah & List:

Running a screenreader adds a fair bit of work to a PC as you have a software synthesizer. You could offload the work of speaking by using a hardware synthesizer such as a Doubletalk or Triple talk. Your laptop needs SSD not a mechanical hard disk with 8, 16 or 32 GB RAM. 32 GB is best if you plan to do video and/or audio editing & recording. The PC at your school may have as little as one GB RAM and a slow CPU. Giving the laptop adequate RAM ids, more important that high-performance CPU. Look for a laptop with a fast, but not necessarily Intel I8 speed. An Intel I5 or six CPU should work fine. You consume CPU cycles a lot if you do sound or video editing, recalculate mammoth spreadsheets and run many programs concurrently.
Web browsing is light work for a PC.
Download the Belarc Advisor from HTTPS://www.belarc.com. Run it on the problem computers at school. Lists the CPU chip, installed RAM, software licenses, everything worth knowing about the PC. Also gives information on the SSD or Hard Disk. Program is free for personal use.

What I need is a powerful machine that can handle email, office, and web Browsing, ETC. without wimping out on me while I am trying to do work. Do you have any recommendations for specs or any particular laptops that you might recommend?

Hi again.

Just read where someone else had issues with virtual recorder having the audio be out of sync on Windows 10. Cok Free MP3 Recorder apparently does not have that problem according to a friend. Good luck!

Thanks.

Re: TW BLUE was Re: [nvda] twitter?

I'm not aware about a way to save photos directly from TWBlue. I strong believe there's not one, really.
A group discussing Twitter and its ways would be very nice, for sure. I would join it.

One last question on NVDA and TW Blue.  Is there a way to save a photo which has been attached to a tweet and save it to my hard-drive?

Also, it would be good to share this knowledge on a twitter group.

To see replies to a tweet, the Win+Alt+C creates a buffer with all of the conversation in it – the buffer is placed immediately to the left of the home buffer so you just need to use the Win+Alt+Left Arrow to navigate to it…assuming you’re using the Windows 10 default keyboard that is.

I don’t know of a way to view the whole conversation from a retweet though!

For both of your questions I'd give the same answer. I'm not aware of any way to see a thread (nor replies to a specific tweet) using TWBlue.
It'd be a very nice feature, though, what makes me consider talking to the guy programing it for now and see if he'd accept our suggestions.

Two questions on TW-Blue.

How does one access a thread? Say if someone retweets a thread, I can’t figure out how to go to it. The most I can do is search for that person’s user handle, go to their timeline and hunt for it there, but even then, it’s not really a thread as much as going down their timeline.

The second question is how do you view replies to a tweet? I know there’s a view conversation and that’ll place the selected tweet in the search listview tree at the bottom, but even then, there’s really nothing there. I can open the tweet with the shift+control+V command, but that just shows the tweet info. No replies.

I’ve also been thinking of giving OpenTween a try, but thought I’d try to figure out these pretty basic features in TW_Blue first.
