National braille Press has a $12 book on accessing Google drive/sheets/docs/slides etc. It is well done. available in Braile, ebook something or other, Word, and I don't remember the other formats.

The uBlock Origin ad blocker works beautifully with both Firefox and Chrome. It's not an accessibility issue if you're bought.barded with the same ads as everyone else is. I haven't browsed without an ad blocker for many years now because the ads are ubiquitous and distracting.

Pascale I don’t believe these sites violate the ADA. It’s a bit of a stretch to even go that far. I do understand where your coming from because I do visit: a lot. The only solution is using JAWS’s Flexible Web feature which is beyond the scope of this list. The sites are a bear to navigate that’s for sure.

Also, you gave site URLS. Please give a page
where such links occur? I have no idea what article or articles may
contain them and it is a waste of time to read full articles, perhaps many, to
find one of these links. If you cite one specific article, I'll read it
and I'll try reading view and perhaps another way around the
problem.

Re: NVDA and ads blocker
Gene
The ADA says things should be accessible. I
don't know if inconvenience ever rises to a level of a violation of
accessibility laws, but it often doesn't. I would suggest, when problems
of formatting or such as you are describing now are found, that you ask if
people know of ways to reduce or eliminate the problem instead of first
resorting to a legal remedy which you will likely not get support for by
institutions or those who bring accessibility actions and which may take a long
time to be ejudicated in the court system.
In this case, while I don't know what browser you
are using , try another browser. Also, if you do or don't want to try
another browser first, Some browsers have a reading view. If they don't,
you can use an add-on. This removes a lot of extraneous material from web
pages and it may remove these long links.
also, there is an NVDA add-on I saw discussed about
a month ago that may deal with a problem like yours but I don't recall the name
and it may do other things you don't like.

Re: NVDA command to read columns in a MS Word document

Hi I am not sure the Control+alt+Arrows work in this situation. My understanding is that this is not a table but a formatting option to make the document look like columns such as in a newspaper. I seem to recall Jaws having some key commands for this but I can’t remember if it’s the same keystrokes as those used to read tables.
Cheers Chris

I’ve set up a Word document with 3 columns. When I am using NVDA to read back through the document, is there a command to jump from column to column e.g. read line 1 in the first column and then jump to line 1 in the second column? Thanks.

Hello,

You sure don't need the programme to read DRM-free epubs, but you need it to read ebooks protected with Adobe DRM. In adition, there are many instances where you can't download ebooks if you don't have ADE, because what you get when you buy or borrow ADE books is an acsm file, which is a license. In order to obtain the actual book, you need to open it with ADE. This is what I know. Are there any alternatives? I wish there were! Ciao, Ollie

Re: nvda and adobe digital edition

I thought that there was an option with all adobe stuff to decline their extras. If that did not work it might pay dividends to talk to Adobe about it, I'd imagine the last thing they would want is sombody telling people not to download their software due to another piece of software.

The NVDA devs used to talk to Adobe a lot and got them to fix the installers on their flash and other software that were not accessible so maybe they still have a contact there. Anyone? So my question is this. Norton and its junk I do not care about has been wiped out. So is there a way I can get adobe digital edition without Norton? Re: Windows Defender Adequate?
Brian's Mail list account
Well whatever you do steer clear of avast, avg and norton, all have issues of accessibility or they are often hard to remove and have been known to stop certain accessible bits of windows from working for ever after being removed. I speak from experience of two or them and reading here about the other. Where that leaves you is anybodies guess but one has to realise I think with malware in general, there is no perfect answer. there needs to be a certain number of people infected before anyone can block it.
