Using BRLTTY with NVDA
Howard Traxler <howard@...>
Hello to you, list.
Anyone who is using BRLTTY with NVDA: Can you please give me some "getting started" pointers? I have a powerbraille and an alva from 20 years ago or so. Running Windows 10 with current NVDA. Please, some suggestions, instructions, or reading material. Thank you very much. Howard

My RCA cambio does not have any sound issues at all. Although it is windows10 32bit, it still wirks very well for what it is. And for $105 you can't beat the price especially for getting a full windows10 laptop tablet hybrid.

Did the tablet come with the keyboard or did you purchase it? Thanks, Monte
From: nvda@nvda.groups.io [mailto:nvda@nvda.groups.io] On Behalf Of Josh Kennedy
I am using NVDA on an RCA cambio tablet with intel atom z8350 processor. 2gigs ram, 32gb solid state drive with 128gb micro sd card and windows 10 home 32bit. It works very very well. Best part is this tablet also has a physical keyboard. NVDA works very good with the touch screen. I had to change some of the keyboard commands because they did not work with this particular tablet's keyboard dock but once I did that it works just fine.

Hey guys, Molly here. In light of the recent arguments on this list, I feel the need to write something positive.
When I think about NVDA I like to think of how it has opened my eyes to a whole new world. Before I started using NVDA I was locked out of all kinds of opportunities. I couldn’t imagine being able to get a job or go to college. I wanted to do something with my life. So when I got a computer and discovered NVDA my life changed for the better. Because NVDA I now have access to an education. I can make friends on facebook, and use twitter. I can read the news and do just about anything on a computer my sighted friends can do. NVDA opens so many doors for millions of people.I feel so proud to be an NVDA user 😊 I now see a future filled with wonderfulpossibilities. I can never express enough to the NVDA developers and contributors how much NVDA has enriched my life. 😂 Thank you guys so so much.

Programing question.
majno
Hello. I'm trying to start to program for NVDA. i'm new with codes for NVDA, but i know How to program using python.
My question is: I was testing how get spoken messages using the ui.message function, but the problem is when i try some code like this. import ui ui.message('hello, this is a basic test.') Then i press intro key waiting for the message, but NVDA just try to speak and stop in less than one second leaving the message without finish. But then i add a sleep(1) after and the message is finally read. import ui from time import sleep ui.message('hello, this is a basic test.') sleep(1) Of Course, this is the bad way to do. How can i get the message read without sleep NVDA? I'm sure there is a way to, but i not familiar with NVDA parameters.E

Re: Starting a braillenote APEX WITH NDVA
Hi,

Depends on which connection you are using. If using USB, you need to install the USB serial driver from HumanWare, not the JAWS driver. If using Bluetooth, you need to pair and connect with the Apex while NVDA is running. Cheers, Joseph

Re: Autocorrect question.
Thanks, but is there a certain string I can type into the replace box, like a macro, that would allow me to type other characters while it corrects the first character?
For example, in LO and OO, I can type, "a.* And, the second I hit the letter N, or any other letter, even though I didn't hit space or similar, LO and OO transform it to, "A without me having to type, period, asterisk. Is there a kind of macro or built in way to make MS word do this too?

Re: Microsoft's Own Security Chief Says: STOP using Internet Explorer
Gene
When you start to make a bookmark, if you tab once
from the name field, you get to a field where you can specify the folder the
bookmark will be saved in. I don't remember if it is identified as a combo
box, but that is how it functions.
Up and down arrow through the choices. If you
want to add the book mark to the Internet Explorer folder, stop on that
folder. Don't press enter because I'm not sure what that would do.
You can experiment and see if you wish.
If you shift tab back to the name field and press
enter, the book mark will be saved in the specified folder.
You may change the name of the bookmark whenever
you want, before or after you specify the folder.

Hi Quenyin,

Thanks so much for your reply. As you suspected, restarting NVDA with add-ons disabled allowed me to interact with the settings dialogue and change settings. When I restarted NVDA with add-ons again, the changes I made in settings were honoured, which is exciting as I now have an NVDA key again. I will investigate the add-on updater add-on to see if I can isolate which of my add-ons is causing this but am happy with this workaround for now. Kind regards, Ashleigh
