Screen curtain feature in JAWS began in JAWS 2018.
To activate the feature, press JAWS key + Spacebar, followed by F11.  This is a toggle, so repeat to turn it off.

I should use it, as I use a laptop. But I really find the desktop one much easier, seriously.
However, sometimes I switch to the laptop layout, if I'm doing something that requires me to use one of its commands.

I believe you'll not even need to search for it using the field to do this, since this may be a "top add-on" so to say. See if you can find it at the main page.

A screen curtain is something designed in a way that whenever you active it, your screen will become inaccessible to the curious eyes that may want... spy on you.
Yes, it's possible. Actually, using an add-on which is planned to be part of NVDA itself soon.
It's called Screen Curtain. You can easily find it at the NVDA add-ons webpage.

Using JAWS, don't quote me on this, but I guess it has its self way of doing the task without any third-part application.
