Hi Anthony
I don't know of a way to do this via the windows update route but you can upgrade Windows via other methods. For instance you could use the Windows Media Creation tool to create installation media and do a clean install. This will also get rid of bloatware which is on your system and free up some disk space.

Several weeks ago I got a message purporting to come from Microsoft asking
me to free up space for a new update which was larger than normal, I chose
to be reminded later, since then the message changed to a choice of “pick
a time”or “remind me later”, now it is saying either “restart now” or
“wait an hour”.

So far I have not allowed this update, has anyone else had this experience,
it seems a different procedure to earlier updates, by the way I have
version 1803 at the moment.

Hi Jim

I am not experiencing any significant issues.  NVDA reads out some extraneous text items when I access the Settings App, for which I posted a message on the NVDA list.  Apparently the text items are something to do with Active Directory parameters and do not affect everyone who moves to 1809.  They are a bit annoying but don’t affect the use of the settings app in any way and there is probably a way to get rid of them but they’re too insignificant to bother about really.

If its any consolation to you. I just installee Itunes as I bought an I phone and am not getting far with trying to find my way around it. All I will say is that navigating in it is just like on the I Phone not windows standard, but occasionally when I use it with nvda it will just crash the computer.
I used to hate it before, but had hoped that they might have made it more intuitive. So if any Itunes gurus who use nvda are out there, we are all ears.

version of iTunes, on the latest Windows 10. Can anyone help with
this?

Yes I had this. I eventually gave in, lay back and thought of king and country as it updated.
Windows was weird and clunky before the update; I can't tell any difference.

I haven't tried the add-on yet, although I doubt it will help in any way

WE are talking Firefox add ons dialogue here I think, if you reead the thread, and I've tried the latest Firefox on several flavours of nvda and the all show, or in effect do not show the bit that is complained about. Hang on a moment....

Heare is more info. Firstly when you land on it you do momentarily hear a description but hitting a curso then says unknown and you cannot get the text back and an nvda/f1 looks like this.

Not knowing what add-ons someone has, or what vintage they may be, I would definitely encourage anyone using NVDA with add-ons to get the Add-On Updater ( https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/addonUpdater.en.html ) add-on, which is getting more and more comprehensive about the add-ons it can keep updated.

I'm not sure, but I think the version before that one worked correctly. Somebody needs to make a ticket on the Firefox bug tracker or it can be put on the nvda one if you want, and maybe Jamie can advise as he was on there the other day trying to understand a different issue in Firefox, I noticed.

This though is a Firefox issue as it was working before.

I only went there to check prompted by this thread, and as has been said, I knew it was working earlier.
Incidentally which version of Windows is everyone using, windows 7 or does it not matter?

Its a minor issue but annoying nonetheless if you want to add or look at what other add ons are installed.

Hello. I am getting the same thing and I also noticed it was occurring in the previous version so whats going on here? I even cleared out the cookies and cash along with the history entries and am still getting this. I guess for now I have to use the tab and shift tab to get around this annoying bug. I am also getting the same thing on my other windows 10 machine. Maybe the NVDA add on for Thunderbird and fire fox needs to be updated? I just don't know. Maybe when the new version of nvda comes out those issues will go away. Just my thoughts.
