Was it just a matter of installing the add on and using the

I did a while ago see reference to this add on which did have

I just got to remember how to remove the ones with out it

For some reason that link didn't "linkify" in your original

for the add on is listed here: http://www.screenreader.ai/
This topic is again giving me the chance to call on the
powers that be that control the NVDA Add-Ons pages to create
a third one under the hierarchy: Community Developed but
Unvetted. There are scads of NVDA Add-Ons that get
mentioned in passing over time and I have little doubt that
a number of the individuals who've developed same would jump
at the chance to have their work listed in a central
repository just like the Stable Add-Ons and Add-Ons Under
Development pages at https://addons.nvda-project.org/index.en.html.
It can be made perfectly clear by the chosen page title or
text at the top of said page that use of these add-ons is
entirely "at your own risk" and they have not passed any
official vetting process. So many of them are just great,
and work just fine. A mechanism on that page should also
exist for reporting back if something has broken, not
because those maintaining the page will fix the add-on
itself, but it might be noted and/or delisted entirely if
that persists.

But if we ever had this option built-in to NVDA it would be quite

How do you find floating windows with

Standard, under windows 10 anyway is windows key + tab key =
brings up a list of open windows that you can arrow left and right

Re: a way to lock the nvda key?
I actually was thinking about a way for making this add-on or
whatever it may be.
I have concluded that if an add-on can keep an eye on the user's
keyboard and commands they type, it's just a matter of, if it's
on, each time such user press a valid key to perform any NVDA
action, it would add the NVDA key to the command.
I don't know if it's possible nor if it's easy as I just
described, though, as I'm not a developer. But that's my two cents

Just a thought
Which is why I'm suggesting g a key stroke to do this.
If I hit vo semi it will lock the vo keys. Hitting vo semi
again and not just semi will unlock the vo keys. So this
should in theory be possible in nvda. Hitting nvda plus
something would cause the key to lock, hitting that same key
again would cause nvda's modifier to unlock.

Seeing AI for NVDA, Windows 10 or both?
As the Seeing AI app for the iPhone is a Microsoft product, I wonder if there is an equivalent, either as an NVDA add-on, or through using the Windows 10 operating system somehow, either through a store app or something built-in that NVDA or narrator can access, to describe photos. I've had almost no success using the NVDA+r command to OCR the current screen to do so, so wondered if there were more advanced options available as the iPhone app works reasonably well for what it is.
Thanks.

Re: Nvda and the International phonetic Alphabet, (IPA)
Enes, The way I read the open issue is that the function of reading a phonetic transcription as it sounds is what's wanted. It's not 100% clear, but strongly suggested. The way I read the request here is to read a phonetic transcription not as it sounds, but broken into atomic units, and not by sound, but by character name of each phoneme (not the sound of the phoneme itself). Very much more akin to reading words letter by letter, but where each letter is the IPA character name (or description, as vowels are generally described rather than named). --

Re: Why does NVDA say torado instead of tornado?
I don't know how it may vary by synth, but even lowercase 'nvda' is not pronounced letter by letter like uppercase is. I've tweaked that via default dictionary to avoid being driven around the bend. At least the computer-based screen readers all (though I haven't yet played "under the hood" with Narrator) give a pretty direct mechanism to fix what needs fixing whether generally or for a specific synth. I've done no deep diving on smartphone based screen reader configuration. --

Travis Siegel <tsiegel@...>
I haven't noticed this behavior on NVDA, but the iPhone does this all the time, and it irritates the hell out of me.

I didn't mean the enter key on the number pad, I meant the enter
key on the main keyboard, but regardless, it was just a
suggestion, any key combination will do.

It really wouldn't be that difficult for the developers
to add a simple toggle (maybe something like
nvda-enter), that would simply act like the nvda key was
down no matter what other key you hit. If I can find
this numlock add-on, perhaps I'll hack that to do this
myself. I'm an experienced programmer, but python is
not my language of choice, and NVDA specifically is not
a program to which I have familarized myself with it's
source code, so having samples of something to see how
it's done would make creating a different add-on to
toggle the nvda key into always on mode wouldn't be that
hard at that point, but this is something one of the
regular NVDA developers would have little trouble
completing. Perhaps an enhancement request should be
submitted, and someone could add it as time permits.

How would you lock it, however, without using
sticky keys in general? Using sticky keys, you can
lock it as you can any sticky key but my understanding
is that the desire is to have only that key be
locked.
NVDA, if you press the modifier twice, passes the
second command to Windows, so if you press insert
twice, you have pressed it once, as far as Windows is
concerned. If you press caps lock twice, you lock or
unlock caps lock because you have actually passed the
keystroke to Windows once. So some other means of
locking the key would be wanted because you wouldn't
want to lose that ability.

Locking the NVDA key is most certainly possible, it has
nothing to do
with whether it's a microsoft program or another one,
it's just a matter
of keyboard interception, which is something NVDA
already does.

Re: Why does NVDA say torado instead of tornado?
That's how your synthesizer says the words.
Which one are you using? that difference has nothing to do with
NVDA. Such things, like saying St period as either saint or street, are
decisions usually made by whomever programmed the synthesizer.
You can change the behavior, but not necessarily
consistently, using the speech dictionaries.

Re: nvda is not working with java control panel
As NVDA devs haven't added 64 bit support, you can only work with
32 bit Java apps. 64 bit ones simply will not work.

Re: Nvda and the International phonetic Alphabet, (IPA)

Hello,
I have noticed that espeak reads some symbols
of the international phonetic alphabet; however, this can not
be done by other synthetic voices, so my question is this:
How to make that nvda
reads correctly those symbols regardless of the synthetizer?
Or, how to make that other
synthetizers read those symbols?
For instance, vocalizer.
I got the Unicode
transcription for all the symbols that I want.
The syntaxis is this:
U+00E6=Ash
Where the term “ash” is
the proper name for that particular symbol.
So, is there a file inside
the installation folder of nvda or user settings where I can paste that syntaxis to have nvda
reading all those symbols?
Thanks for any info.
