Hello friend from New Zealand,
I woke up to very sad news this morning.
I heard about the at least 40 killed and many injured people in Christchurch, and my heart broke.
Please, embrace your country on my behalf.
These things open deep wounds in the entire community, whether we're touch personally or not by the attacks.
My heart goes out to the victims' loved ones, and to the entire country.
A big hug from the antipodes,
Ollie

I also heard about the mass shooting in New Zealand. It really saddens me that there’s so much hatred in the world. I’m Catholic and we as Catholics are constantly praying for peace in the world.

Will always make all updates, on the www.screenreader.ai website, otherwise I could make some sort of mailing list if people want. I could also include some message saying there's a newer version in the image descriptions :)

Good Morning: I had a sighted person look at my computer and they couldn't see anything when Drop Box spoke. I'm a insider and have the problem right up to the latest insider's update of windows. If I go in to Task Manager and kill everything related to Drop Box as well as Drop Box Updater and Drop Box Serices as soon as I sign in to computer no problems occur.. I noticed that the notiification button is out of focus with NVDA.

Re: Why does NVDA say torado instead of tornado?
Dan Beaver
Actually, each synth has its own pronunciation table. This table tells it how to pronounce strings.
the problem is that someone set those tables up so that it tries to figure out words from partial strings and grammatical rules. Of course, in English this is very difficult. They didn't organize the tables so that they are truly alphabetical and so some of the strings are in the wrong order.
The result is that some words end up garbage. It is fixed by either the developers fixing their tables or else folks like us adding an entry in the pronunciation dictionary for our systems that fix each one as we find them. They generally use the dictionaries on our systems before resorting to the tables in the synth itself. That is why we can fix them if we choose to.

Re: Why does NVDA say torado instead of tornado?
Gene
Maybe it’s a proper name in one or more
languages. Some synthesizers pronounce the word "reading" as "redding"
when capitalized for
Redding Pensylvania. So, a sentence with
reading capitalized at the beginning, would be spoken "Redding this book was a
particularly memorable experience."

Re: requesting link to chat group
Gene,
The original query was: "Can anyone provide the link to the chat group? I have few tech questions, not related to NVDA." The intent, at least to me, was clearly that the address information to the NVDA Chat Subgroup, which I'll repeat here, is what was being sought.
Rosemarie Chavarria kindly provided this information initially, and we've since had a lot of thread drift, which is not unusual. The day is soon to be upon us when the kind of attention to the nature of the topic being introduced that was shown by Sociohack AC will begin being enforced. That attention is appreciated. People need to be asking themselves the simple question, "Is what I'm about to ask related to using NVDA to get something done, or about configuring NVDA itself?," and if the answer is, "Yes," it's an NVDA main group topic and if it's, "No," it's either an NVDA Chat Group topic or a topic for another group entirely depending on who they wish to have reading and responding. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back

Okay, the only problem right now is, how will we know when there are updates to the addon? Joseph Lee on the Windows 10 group for screen reader users has made an addon updater that you could use, but how you can get in touch with him for that I'm not sure. Devin Prater sent from Gmail.

It isn't clear what you are discussing. the
subject is for a link to a chat group. Are you discussing that or the main
lists? Blindtech, the main list has a good deal more traffic. I
don't know how membership compares on the chat or the main lists.
