Good response. I know some blind people listen at rates of speech over three hundred words per minute. Personally I find 175 to be pretty good for me. Are the 1 core voices available for win 10 only or can they be used with win 7.? Thanks, Monte

Getting current column in word when you're in 2 column format?
Hello, Some technical papers need to be written in a 2 column format and I'm having a hard time figuring out what column I'm on both because NVDA likes to jump around columns and because I need to know how to format my paper based off the template. Is there any way to tell what column I'm in? To format a document with 2 columns, go to format, columns, and choose 2. You need to have text selected first though I believe. Thanks,

Auto-Numbered Outlines
Ralph Boersema
Friends,
I find that often NVDA does not read the numbers or bullets that were produced automatically in MS Office documents or e-mails. Is there an NVDA preference I need to select to read the numbers of an outline that was automatically produced in Office? Warmly, Ralph

You should be able to do this via email commands. Most of the groups send out an email help with these in, then you can read each message one at a time. I find that any time saved by digest mode is lost trying to reply to them, so use individual messages.

Can you not use object nav and get there then interact with the status line and read it that way? It's slower but it should work just as well.

Since I subscribe in daily summary mode, the only way I can read messages is online, but the groups.io site seems to be under maintenance, so I can’t access any messages. If you’ve responded to any of my posts recently and are waiting for an answer from me, please be patient. As soon as the site is restored, I’ll be able to access everything and will respond as soon as I can. Thank you.

This was done because many users find ESpeak to be very robotic
sounding, which negatively affected people's first impression of
NVDA. You'd need to copy your settings over if you want to use
ESpeak NG. Alternatively, you could edit nvda.ini by hand, but
that's a very involved process.

I’d like to change the way NVDA reads information about a cell when moving through a spreadsheet in Excel.
Now NVDA reads the information within the cell, then the coordinates, then the column/row header info.
I’d like to have it read column/row headers before cell coordinates. I tried turning off cell coordinates and that messed up the reading of column headers. They no longer were read if cell coordinates were turned off.
I need to play with this a bit more as I changed a couple other things as well and now need to narrow this down but should tables be set to on or off? I currently have them set for on with Excel and off with everything else.

OK, answered my own issue here. After changing a document setting, not only do you need to remember to hit Apply before OK but also tab away from the app and come back to see the changes.
Turning off cell coordinates but keeping tables on worked and now I have a lovely, easy to read spreadsheet.

Braille Me add-on not working
Jenine Stanley <jenine@...>
I’ve been having difficulty with this since the last firmware update of the Braille Me, add-on not working and display not being recognized by NVDA.
I’m sure this is a Braille Me issue and not and NVDA one but just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if so, how did you resolve it?
I’m considering going back to factory reset and trying a reinstall of the firmware for the Braille Me. When it worked, it was beyond awesome with NVDA.
