Hi, You can use it or defender. You have to run one or the other. Cause they
both are the same. So, if you do end up with tem. Just use defender.

Hi,

You can go to <https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/commits/master> for the master branch and <https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/commits/next> for the next branch. Then, search for the number after the comma in your version. In your case, next-13306,69e86e83, you will need to search for 69e86e83. Then, go up from that point in the page and you'll see the changes.

Hope this helps,

* Press ctrl+NVDA+G, to open the NVDA General settings.

couple of questions if I may, first, is there a preferred resolution which
optimises performance of N V D A on windows 7 64-bit?

second, which anti-virus is most accessible for Use with nvda?

It is a concern to me that we may need to consider access to a programme,

there we are, tht's what it is. Something that regular computer users don't
have to
consider, a balance between accessibility and overall functionality.

checkbox to have NVDA work at that screen. Now after making some
changes, including setting Windows to never slep, it boots directly into
the logon dialogue and says Configuring Windows. That is the NVDA
mesage, but it won't do anything more. Is there a way to get past this
dialogue and proceed to a normal boot?

Thanks,
John

This uses a completely different NVDA profile, with a separate

My first guess is your machine is going to sleep, and it's asking for
your password when it wakes up. You can turn off sleep in the power
options.

If you want to copy the current configuration to the secure desktop, so
it uses the same speech/braille settings as the logged in NVDA, you can
do that.
* Press ctrl+NVDA+G, to open the NVDA General settings.
* Press the button that says Use currently saved settings on the logon
and other secure screens (requires administrator privileges).
* If the secure desktop appears during this process, it's probably an
UAC
prompt. Press alt y.
If you want NVDA to work at the logon screen, the General settings
dialog
has a checkbox for that as well.

I wonder if there is some way to uninstall it. I doubt it as just a few of
the applets in windows seem to use its code to display things very badly in
most cases!
To be honest I simply do not understand why we needed yet another browser
at all.

Oh that edge! I hope one day it will stop taking over! I hope Microsoft
will
provide a solution to have any browser take over as you choose. Not Edge
trying to take over. There has to be a work around to have any browser be
default without Edge trying to take over.

Happens to me as well, at times, and seems like edge keeps on trying to
take
back control of protocol types, etc.

As in, while, maybe an htttp link will still open with either firefox, or
chrome, depending on which I have set as default browser, but, then an
https
link will open in edge, etc. etc.

Haven't found a way to stop this from happening consistently as of yet,
but
anyway.

Windows key + Enter should, hopefully, get narrator to start talking,
and,
it should be able to read some of the logon screen to you, but, only
really
allows you to navigate using tab, and arrow keys.

Good luck

On another forum that's blind-related, the question came up about a program
to dim the screen as night comes on so that the glare can be significantly
reduced and the color temperature changed. Such a program exists, and
it's called f.lux and it works beautifully but, it appears to be 100%
inaccessible via any of the "big three" screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, and
Window-Eyes, and I suspect Narrator will be no better.

I have actually dropped an e-mail to f.lux support noting this situation
and suggesting that they make tweaks to the user interface to make it
accessible as software updates are made. I actually suspect I might hear
back from them and, if I do, I'd love to be able to point them directly to
documentation or guidelines or standards that software developers need to
consult to bring this about. Since I've been out of "that end of the
game" for a very, very long time now I have no idea what those are or
where to point anyone who'd be interested in that sort of information.

Please feel free to contact me off-list if this topic is considered too far
off-topic. This is a group that I know has members who do know "this
stuff" so I thought it a good place to inquire.

Tiflotecnia vocalizer update

Greg Wocher

Hello,

I thought there was suppose to be an update to the Tiflotecnia vocalizer last month in June. Did this happen? I was also wondering if the Nathan voice is one of the new ones added? I have been trialing a Sapi version of it and I really like it.

Regards,

Greg Wocher
