Hi, you are right in some cases.
On some lists with Jaws you can press Jawskey-shift-r, and the sender’s individual e-mail will come up. It seems to work in groups.io, but not on the nfbnet lists. I am using Outlook 2010 with Windows 10.

Well I tried it just for giggles and it worked perfectly, except for the fact that, when I tried to close the new message window, my Thunderbird hmm crashed completely and I had to restart it. What happens when you hit this link is as simple as that: A new message opens so you can type in with the "to" field being who sent this message and the "Private:" prefixing the subject. Re: How to contact list members off list?
Judy,
I don't think there's a way to do this under Groups.io because the actual sender's address is not a part of the From: field. If it were, you could use the standard Reply keyboard shortcut, but doing that for a list message replies to the group, not the originating sender. I believe the only way to reply directly to sender, without also including the list, with ease in most e-mail clients is hitting that Reply to Sender link at the end of messages or digest entries. That's why that particular link came into existence in the very early days of Groups.io. I've never dealt with an e-mailing list where direct replies to originating senders of single messages didn't involve a workaround of some kind as the From: and Reply-To are usually set to the mailing list address. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell. ~ Edward Abbey

Actually, if I open the context menu on the reply to sender link and then click on the compose email to choice then it does open a new email and does populate the to: field with the sender's email address.
But still clicking on the reply to sender link does nothing.

I was responding to the contacting of persons off list. In Jaws, there is a key combination that allows you to reply directly to sender.

Hi Brian,
No, I am using Thunderbird and it is the latest version.
Like I said, it appears that it does nothing at all. I can't find any mailto: tags or anything like that. It also isn't bringing up another new email screen. Very strange.

Mailto: links won't necessarily work smoothly with some webmail. If you bring up the context menu and copy that link, it is a mailto: link. It will have the word mailto: immediately followed by the sender's e-mail address, followed by a question mark, followed by what will be put in the message subject automatically. You can snag the actual e-mail address that way if you're using webmail that does not respond to a mailto: link. I haven't encountered an actual e-mail client like Thunderbird, WLM, Outlook, etc., in a very long time that doesn't respond to a mailto: link by opening a compose window with the To: address and Subject: prepopulated based on what the link has in it. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell. ~ Edward Abbey

That won't work. If you press NVDA+F2, then Control+Alt+N, NVDA will be restarted. This is because it is a desktop shortcut and not an NVDA command.

You don't have to get information from the profile
and a lot of people won't have one. What e-mail program are you
using? You can get the address from the message but the way may
differ.

Just like there is a group message archive, there is a group directory for those members who allow their e-mail address to appear in it: https://nvda.groups.io/g/nvda/directory Since there are over 1000 members of this group, the directory spans 17 pages of content and, I just noticed (as I've never used it) there is no search mechanism for the member directory. If you happen to know some specific keywords of a message a certain member posted, you can also search the group archive (https://nvda.groups.io/g/nvda/topics) for a message using those, and a link to that member's profile, and e-mail button, will be part of the message itself, presented as a link at the very start of the message. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell. ~ Edward Abbey

Re: new dropbox rules
Hmmm is it worth it then. If I get more devices maybe I will have to get that though the dropbox client and website are not the most accessible. The only reason I use it a part from the fact I have 6gb free from other sources, is that no other client is accessible. Icloud works sort of, google drive is a joke, and I have never got onedrive at least sorted to what I would like. Dropbox has never had to many issues but it did use to be easier in the past.
