Hi.

Well, I don't know which version of Office is 1/3, but I recommend updating to 2019.1.1 and let us know how that treats you.

Hello folks,

Using Windows 10 pro 64, NVDA 19.1, MS Office 2003/Excel.

I'm having trouble running Excel with NVDA.  With NVDA running, Excel

will only flash and stop; reverting to the previous screen. If Excel is

already running, NVDA will not start.  Excel runs properly with JAWS

demo; runs, but not usably with Narrator.

I have used this combination (NVDA and Excel) successfully for many

months.  Perhaps I should go back to an earlier version of NVDA.  See my

note (below) posted on another list.

Anybody, thanks for ideas.

Howard

Trying different screen readers:

1. With NVDA, I get the results I described in my message above.

2.  With Narrator, Pressing enter on the desktop shortcut, I get two or

three clicks and revert to the previously running application.  Pressing

the spacebar will start Excel, but no useful information is read.

3. With JAWS (40 minute demo), Excel comes up and allows normal

functioning: data entry, reading cells, opening and saving file.

It appears to me that this is caused by an interaction with the screen

readers.

I probably could get done what I need to in less than forty minutes but

it sure is inconvenient.  Maybe something to ask the NVAccess folks.

Re: Hemingway Editor - Command for Colors with NVDA

Are you using the Desktop (installed) version of Hemingway, or the web app?   That will be the first difference that needs to be known.

Then, having looked at their webpage, are you asking for NVDA to report the background color applied by Hemingway automatically when you're moving through your document, or just to be able to order NVDA to tell you the background color on demand?  [And given the nature of Hemingway, I'm not certain that either of these may be possible depending on what it exposes to NVDA.]

Subject: [nvda] Help: Using Newest Version of NVDA and Excel 2007 crashing

Hello: Is it possible that the latest version of NVDA doesn't play

well with Excel 2007?  I have been using Windows 10 with these

programs successfully in a previous version of NVDA but now, when I

open Excel it crashes almost immediately.

As an alternative, can I easily roll back to NVDA in a 2018 version

that Excel worked well with?

Any help or information would be appreciated.  Thanks,

Under UK law, no VAT is charged on biscuits and cakes - they are "zero rated".
Chocolate covered biscuits, however, are classed as "luxury items" and are
subject to VAT. McVitie's classed its Jaffa Cakes as cakes, but in 1991 this
was challenged by Her Majesty's Customs and Excise in court.

The question which had to be answered was what criteria should be used to
class something as a cake or a biscuit. McVitie's defended the classification
of Jaffa Cakes as a cake by arguing that cakes go hard when stale, whereas
biscuits go soft. It was demonstrated that Jaffa Cakes become hard when stale
and McVitie's won the case.

Hemingway Editor - Command for Colors with NVDA

Hi NVDA Group,

I am using the Hemingway Editor application, which is an editing tool
for writers.
Output is given in color schemes, and wonder what is the command to
turn on and off colors with NVDA?

I looked online but could not find the command for this. Thanks in advance.
