Hello,

The add-on F123 Access is not compatible with the latest version of Firefox. According to the author, the Chrome extension does work. So, switch to Google Chrome and install the F123 Access Extension:

Howard,

I've been busy this week so haven't caught up on messages, but do try this release and let us know either way (you probably already have - I will get to it!)

I'm glad to hear it's working for others, and Brian there is definitely something about your system that plays up with new versions, but I'm glad it is working again now.  We will get to the bottom of it one of these days.

Well, that was the original question of this thread. The answer seems to be no. I already knew there was no dedicated command for it, but it seems there is also no incidental command for it either, at least none that anyone has posted about.

It may be a more thorny problem than it appears, if the 10 year old feature request is any indication. Or, since the feature request only has 10 comments on it, it may just be that there are only a few of us who would find this useful, and the devs are rightfully focused on bigger fish.

Hi friends,
Need solutions to access the whats app of web version on desktop.
One of our candidate joined company in India.
She should use whats app very efficiently by using desktop with screen
reader NVDA.
At present unable to use the app very efficiently.
Note:
Tried with Mozilla fire fox and add on.
It is not accessible also getting error "not respondinng"
If we remove add on then PC works well.

Add on name is f123.

Re: Jumping Between Clickables

Luke Davis

Well, I don't expect NVDA to figure out whether they do anything, that's between me and the site I'm browsing. I'm more concerned with getting to them. If I can jump to links, buttons, checkboxes, and all the rest, why can't I jump to clickables? Their just another web element from that prospective. Not all checkboxes, radio buttons, or buttons do something either--they may be disabled, for example. They just indicate that fact better than clickables (things with onclick events).

To your comment about some clickables not working:

Often I have found that clickables are toggles on the page. They select options, like radio buttons or checkboxes would on a more regularly designed site, but don't take you anywhere. Probably their highlighting changes, or in some other way they look "pressed", and then when you do hit a next button or whatever, they take effect. It's just that NVDA doesn't register that level of change.

And I have read recently in some archive on github, that if you enter browse mode, some clickables that don't otherwise work, do then work. I haven't tried this yet.

Luke

On Tue, 16 Apr 2019, Brian's Mail list account via Groups.Io wrote:

Well and working from memory here, the problem with clickables is that there is little info on what they may actually be doing. Its up to the site developer to define it so they are grouped in links since there could well be several different sorts of clickable and how do you actually know which is which? at least if they show up in the links one might be able to assume they are supposed to do stuff. I have to say some of them seem to do nothing whatsoever while others act like links or drop downs and all sorts of other things.
I think somebody in charge of web accessibility needs to sort this one out.

There are two roads leading just to what you want.
So let's start with the easier. Press CTRL+NVDA+V.
The second one is NVDA menu > Preferences > Settings > Speech.

changing voices in latest update of NVDA.

andy.tidwell

Hello everyone, I am trying to learn NVDA and I updated to the latest build this morning and I was trying to use Microsoft David on an older version and when I updated and went to the settings there was no voice menu where I could change the voice I was using in the older version. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to change the voices in the newer version. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have no idea, as I cannot get it to load under any web browser to make even a quick assessment.   That was not the site I know to be problematic, which those of you who are on e-mail have already received the link to, which has been redacted from the archive.
When the first thing on the page is an audio recording of Mary Poppins Returns , which has only very recently had commercial release on DVD/Blu-Ray, the probability of that having been produced with the permission of Disney Studios is zero.

Yes, I'll admit to being "off topic" to the group, but right on-topic to this aspect of Nimer's message.   I will very happily compile a list if anyone sends me the specific mailing list or website addresses off-list.  It's a worthwhile project, and I try to collect this sort of information on a continuous basis.   You all have my private e-mail address from my messages.  Please direct any replies with this sort of information directly to me.

Re: reaper

Hello everyone,

This is just a note that, while seemingly on topic, this post is actually off-topic, or has drifted that way at any rate. Had the question been on how to use NVDA with this app, whether NVDA works with this app, or how to use a particular feature in NVDA in this app, it may be more on for this list, but this list is not a place for discussion of how to use other tools unless that involves NVDA in some way.

Before you comment on a thread, please keep in mind that if it has nothing to do with NVDA, if NVDA is nowhere in your message, it is probably off-topic and should not be posted unless you seek permission first. If you throw NVDA in there as a passing thought, it probably is not on topic either. There are many mailing lists out there for the discussion of many topics, and I appreciate Brian and others directing individuals to those mailing lists. It would be great to compile those somewhere so that users have access to them. If a topic can't find home anywhere else, it can on the chat list so long as it upholds the groups.io terms of service. This list is narrow in scope, and has to do with NVDA, the screen reader, and how to accomuplish tasks with that screen reader.

If you have questions, please reach out to brian and myself and we would be happy to clarify or help out further. These guidelines are fluid, they may change in future, but it is important that we return to discussing the topic at hand, which is NVDA.

Thanks.

It's quite easy to use. Osara is just an extension to make reaper more accessible. I'm still grasping it after about 3 or 4 months but I'm now able to edit podcasts, create sends and receives and so so much more.

The Reapers Without Peepers (RWP) group main page on groups.io is: https://groups.io/g/rwp
All of the e-mail addresses for the group are, as is typical, located near the end of the group's main page.

If one wants to search for a group that might possibly exist under Groups.io, use this webpage: https://groups.io/search?p=SubsCount,,,20,2,0,0
A search there on Reaper turns up this group as the first search result.

Detailed information on using Reaper with any screen reader can be found there and the group appears to be quite active based on the monthly post totals on its main page.

Sorry Brian, I saw your message after I posted my reply.
Richard,

Thank you, and "no problem."   The nature of e-mailing lists is that you can be in the midst of composing something while something else comes in.  When that happens within minutes each other, I presume that's what did occur.

I want to give those who wish to continue this exchange all time to subscribe to the chat subgroup. Launching a topic immediately isn't very much help to anyone if it doesn't land in their respective inboxes and they don't read via web.  That's why I have elected not to start those topics, because they do no good unless one is already a subscriber.

So, again, to those who wish to continue this discussion, please do so on the chat subgroup.  If someone launches a new topic in, say, a couple of hours it should allow for the first wave of participants to have subscribed and if it gets active the second wave will start getting messages pretty promptly, too.
