Problem with windows 10

Hello ,
I am new to the group and have a problem with windows 10
I upgraded from windows 7 on my laptop to windows 10. Now NDVA will not
read the page. I tried to use my portable copy and even uninstalled and
reinstalled NDVA with no luck. Any ideas?

Announcing Windows 10 App Essentials add-on 16.07

Hi everyone,

I’m delighted to announce the next iteration of Windows 10 App Essentials add-on. This version (16.07) includes needed fixes for Anniversary Update, including support for newer builds of Microsoft Edge and changes in response to Cortan listening mode command change.

Direct link to download the add-on:

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi,
Place Markers add-on does this. Essentially, you'd add a submenu when the
global plugin starts (in its constructor or __init__ method). If this is
done, you are responsible for removing the menu item when NVDA quits (via
terminate method in your add-on class).
Cheers,
Joseph

Hello,

I know this is doable, I'm not sure how.

For purposes of training i'd like to add a custom submenu to the NVDA menu
structure and in that custom submenu have pointers to several included
files, one text, two html that the user can select.

I'm thinking this would be some kind of addon and a global plugin.

I'm open to advice.

Thanks.
Dave.

Re: scripting question - how to perform key presses

Hi,

I’ll address both questions here:

In short, you need help from keyboard handler to do this. The big picture is:

1.       Create a script.

2.       Within this script, call keyboardHandler and tell it to create a gesture from name (SPL Studio add-on uses this in encoder support routines).

3.       Pass it on.

For Igor: which add-on are you developing? Let us know if you need further assistance.

Cheers,

Joseph

NVDA scripting: function to press the keystroke.

Igor Kaplan

  Hi NVDA developers.

Have the scripting question. I need the addon to press the key on the keyboard.

What I am trying to do is to have NVDA to press the keyboard keys, for example ctrl+escape when I perform some gesture on the touch screen. Or even to emulate the sequence of keys pressed.

Could someone please point me to the existing python code, which will press the key on the keyboard. I was looking through available addons and did not find any, which does this.

Or if such addon does not exist, would appreciate a small example, how it is done.

I am fine with assigning functions to gestures, just need to perform the key presses.

Many, many thanks in advance.

  Igor.

Reading table rows and columns sort of all in one

Jacob Kruger

Is there any way using either standard NVDA keystrokes, or a form of add-in to, when in a table, either on the web, or in something like MS Word, to jump to either a column or row alongside the current cell, and read out the whole row/column?

TIA

That's craziness. Why would Microsoft ask you to upgrade to ten for all 7 or

I am running Windows 10 on an Aser labtop, bought in 2014.

Here is why Windows 10 can't be installed:

Re: FW: DTP Software

Jacob Kruger

I have always worked in markup, even in old sighted days, so have never used any form of design software.

I do still visualise how the output should be rendering, but, it means I can use CSS to sort of hard-code positioning, using things like absolute positioning, if I want to.

But, yes, I think I understand what you're saying, and, I have always been a backend, data-integration developer, who also works on functionality, some of which requires forms of layout manipulation, but, haven't really done much with design, other than implement it using style-sheeting.

Stay well

Hi Jacob,

It isn’t the purpose to use CSS for books, and other, non-webfiles!

But, do you know any way to be sure of the working of a CSS sheet?

I mean, when I make a CSS-file, I cannot see it because I am blind! Do you know a solution to this without a sighted person?

Thanks for your tip and your aswer.

Hi

the portable version works well going from pc to pc etc if you know how
to get it up and running.

I was looking at where places lock down the computers and use exe
blocking software.

here where we live we are lucky we can go up to any pc on the APN
network and use a copy of NVDA as there is a copy installed on every
machine on the library network. It also has it so a portable version can
be used.

But then if I go to a information centre they are locked down there is
no adaptive technologies on any of the public terminals throughout the
country.

I am looking into getting access to those machines but these are under
78 councils that service these public terminals.

I know I might be able to get access to these terminals with them
installing a copy of nvda onto them if they allow it that would be good.

But if they do not allow it then I was seeing if it or nvda could be
accessed and used from the web like web any where.

A while ago I had come across web any where and did not give it much
thought after that. But it got me to thinking could some thing like this
be done with NVDA? Where you could type in a web address and once it is
there NVDA will start up and you could use it like normal from any where
in the world. Would this then give us access to any pc that is connected
to the web?

Even though most computers are usually locked down and if there is no
adaptive technology on that machine it can not be used by some one like us.

I think SA2go does the same sort of idea as well.

so would this get around access problems all over the world?

The following link will give a little more info about it at
http://webanywhere.cs.washington.edu/content.php

I was trying to see if i could do some thing like that off my website
just to see if it can be done or would it be done a different way. I was
just thinking if the same sort of concept could be used with NVDA like
web any where or SA2go?
