Hi All,
Ok, IE works great with both NVDA and other screen reader Jaws. Modern browsers show unlabeled buttons, links and, clickables.

Same thing as Chrome – unlabeled buttons and links. Just says button or link over and over. IE recognizes the links and buttons to be what they truly are. I think the site is quite modern – Facebook timeline runs the bulk of the site. Not sure from a back end coding point of view though.
I will load up the dreaded Shark and see what happens.

What happens in Firefox or Edge? Also, do you have any idea what the age of that system happens to be? The latter question is because if the web app is of a certain age, they could have used all sorts of HTML extensions that were exclusive to IE that never made it out to other browsers, and there were a lot of them. Sometimes, different browsers behave in different ways even the
website being the same. I find it to be very common nowadays.

I suggest you to use what suits you better. It's?? probably IE, in the case. Another thing that occurred to me as I was writing this is that said website can be programmed using "old coding" or something like that and that's why IE behaves better with it. Hi All,
I am working with a system called SpeakAp.com It’s an intranet for companies. When I am in internet explorer the links are labled and all is well. When I am in chrome nothing is labeled. Any ideas how to solve this?

I agree that the original poster did show some discretion in asking for replies off-list, which could easily have been made using the "Reply to Sender" link at the end of individual messages or entries in the digest for a topic. I then respectfully asked that the topic be taken elsewhere, whether that were to be the Chat Subgroup or elsewhere. Then a follow-up, after that request, is made over a day later, and if the person making the reply had read the topic in its entirety first they should not have ever done so. Then the list owner makes clear this is off-topic. Then we have another member explaining the probable motive of the original poster, even after two "this is off-topic, please stop" messages have been posted. There is a very good reason that this guideline was included in those sent out for the NVDA Group Reboot: Using threaded or conversation view in their respective e-mail client programs and reading through the entirety of a thread before replying. It gets you completely up to speed and avoids a lot of repetition. If you choose not to use threaded/conversation view, please take the time to read through all messages from the group that are in your inbox prior to adding any reply to the group. It’s the only way you can be sure you’re up to speed on any topic when not using threaded/conversation view. It is basic list etiquette to read through an entire topic before posting additions to it, and to respect requests from the group moderator and group owner to end the discussion. version of windows is he using, what version of NVDA is he using, what browser, has he tried another browser, etc. The other thing is, if your friend/client messed up something in his NVDA configuration, that is located in the users roaming folder & doesn't go away simply w/a reinstall. There is an item in the NVDA menu to revert the configuration to factory defaults. It's a last resort, though, if he has settings already saved. NVDA also has a logging facility. The last log can be viewed by pressing the NVDA modifier key + f1. You can view these yourself or send 1 to the list if you feel stuck. Also, another thing to try is to see if your friend has any addons installed, & disable them if so. That applies both to NVDA itself as well as to the browser. You're a technician; therefore, you know how to troubleshoot. Screen readers are a bit of a different kettle of fish, perhaps, but troubleshooting them is similar to troubleshooting other pieces of software. You're not as over your head as you think. There are a lot of nice folks on here who are ready to help if at all possible.

Hello Curtis. NVDA might not be the problem. Experience tells me that when things suddenly go wrong with web browsing, check recent updates of the web browser being used and, if possible, remove the updates back to the version that last worked.

Hello,
I hope you can point me in the right direction. I am a computer repair / technician who has a client who is loosing his eye sight. He choose to use NVDA as his screen reader and for several months it has worked just fine for him. Starting last week it quit reading web pages. It reads the banner, (top line or two), stops and does nothing or it repeats it. My knowledge of screen readers is limited, I do have a couple of other clients who use Jaws, but I really am in over my head and yet I hate to leave my friend without somewhere to turn. He especially enjoys LSU sports website and I tried without success to get it to read the page. I tried removing and reinstalling NVDA in case there was some file corruption or issue with the current profile settings, this did not help. Any idea how to proceed? I do not know of any tutorials with regard to NVDA and web-based Office. Given the fluidity, or potential fluidity, of the web based version I would be disinclined to use it if I had any other choice. With the advent of the recycled license marketplace, most active on eBay but also plenty active elsewhere, it is a simple matter to get a legitimate recycled license for Office 2016 Pro Plus (or pretty much any edition, but that's "top of the line") for under $10. I've now installed on 6 machines using recycled licenses, and had trouble twice, once being issued a second key and once a refund.
Three examples currently available (and there always seem to be plenty offered in the under $10 range): Microsoft Office Pro Plus 2016-Full Version 32/64bit-All Languages keygenuine Office Pro Plus 2016-Full Version 32/64bit-All Languages-Activation key Office Pro Plus 2016-Full Retail Version 32/64bit - Activation key.If you plan on using any of the programs that are part of the Office suite heavily during your academic career I'd either purchase a recycled license or see if your school has an agreement for licensing for students and faculty through Microsoft at a reduced cost. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell. ~ Edward Abbey

More things you may want to add to the braille display friendly program are the following:
convert all left bracket characters to left brace characters. convert all right bracket characters to right brace characters. convert all backslash characters to vertical bar characters. convert all At sign characters, to grave accent characters. finally, convert all caret characters to tilde characters. and make sure all dots 4-5-6 braille characters are represented by the underscore character, since typically dots 4-5-6 in braille when you view the file on a computer is shown as the underscore or underline character, shift dash. those characters gave me issues in the past, especially reading stuff on the braille me display prototype i had last year. I can, and will, help with this, but this is not an NVDA question, but a question on how to use several different features of Microsoft Word.
Join the Chat Subgroup ( chat+subscribe@nvda.groups.io) then post this topic there (chat@nvda.groups.io). You need not do this manually, either, one can break one's document into sections, using one numbering scheme for one section and another for one or more other sections. Entering Header and Footer in Microsoft Word
Hello, I need to manually enter page numbers for each page in my front-matter section of my document and I am wondering how to do this using NVDA on the latest version of Microsoft Word on Windows 10? I need to have lowercase roman numerals with the title page not having any numerals, and the second page starting with "ii". Thanks,

Hi all,
I need to do a PowerPoint project and need office. I discovered office Education today, allowing college students to get Office for free as long as they have a valid email address. Unfortunately, and I'm not sure if this is universal or just with my school, but I apparently "do not have a valid license for installing office" and to contact my school etc. The web version of PowerPoint doesn't seem all that bad. I saved a default presentation as a test and all is well, but I wonder if there's a way for me to download it? I can only share an online link and I need to upload the file to Blackboard. In any case, I try to add a slide title and I can press F2 to leave the edit box, but browse mode or NVDA's equivilent to forms mode is odd and I can't press enter and/or NVDA Space in this edit area to edit the title. I know installing the apps are the best option, but if I can't do that, is there a screen reader guide to use the web version of these apps?
