Re: changing what NVDA says when a punctuation mark is typed
Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>
There are often multiple places you need to change it to account for the various uses of the symbol. i have now managed to change bang into exclamation and ^ to point up and many others like number to hash etc to cope with the uk way of saying stuff. You may need to hunt for them and then save the settings. It is quite a long process but you only need to do it once. I know I miss one when it says it but finding it, ah, that is the long bit! Brian

I would like to hear NVDA say period instead of dot when I press a period and I'd like it to say apostrophe instead of tick when I press an apostrophe. I found where to change this in the menus and I saved it, but I still hear dot when I press period and tick when I press apostrophe even though when I checked back where I made the change it appears that the changes I made are still there.
In case I did something wrong, I highlighted the 2 things I wanted to change and tabbed once to the edit field and typed what I wanted to hear in place of what was there then I tabbed to okay. Can anybody help?
Thanks.

Not sure about that, but there are two versions of Daniel for Sappi 5 and one is 22khz and the other 11.5 khz and apart from the lack of hf on the latter I see no speed up in the lag. Brian

Hi all, am currently trying out the Eloquence / Vocalizer bundle that one can download as extra voices from the NVDA website.
My question is: Does NVDA support the Compact version of the Vocalizer Expressive voices?
I use Daniel Compact on my iPhone and I would love to be able to use Compact versions of Vocalizer with NVDA if at all possible.
Looking forward to knowing if this is possible or not.
Regards
Daniel

Hi, There are numerous other warnings from that add-on that's troubling. Besides that, we need to figure out if that add-on will even survive Python 3 transition. Besides all this, a very sincere request from me as not only an add-on author, but this time as a list owner/moderator: could you mind no longer hijacking threads please? I usually do not respond to hijacked threads in realtime, preferring to deal with all of them in one go; I responded because of warnings from logs. Next time though, I won't, because I think it would be best to start a new thread if discussing a different add-on. Cheers, Joseph

Hi Joseph, I have now updated this and focus Highlight this morning, but with the often encountered failure to reboot due to the log file being in use on the restart of nvda. My main thrust here though is this, There are numerous error wornings in the update process from another add on the 3D sounds one. Should I now remove this as in the main its still making sounds that make it easier to tell on the actual screen where and what sort of thing is going on. Is there another certified add on that does this I can use? Here is the log up till when it tries to reboot.
Its the current release being run portably in this instance on windows 7 64 bit pro.

Hi all,
Resource Monitor 19.05/19.05A is now available. Version 19.05A is for those who've updated to 19.05 and found the add-on didn't work (caused by a missing file).
IMPORTANT: the new add-on release is a mandatory update for everyone using Resource Monitor add-on, as it enables compatibility with NVDA 2019.2.
I'll talk more about why this is so very soon.
Cheers,
Joseph

#addonrelease
Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>
Its not a hijack as it was an enquiry about interaction. Obviously if I was querying a different add on directly I would call the thread that. There are times when you ar as bad burnt as scolded of late and one has to make a choice or never bring up the subject which is not the stated desire of the mods as far as I can tell. Now you have sort of clarified it fine, but nobody has said if there is another add on to do the same job. I'll probably start a new thread in add ons about that. Brian

Cheers,
Joseph

Thanks Gene. I actually have punctuation set on none so I didn't
realize that the symbol was at the beginning of each line.

Re: changing what NVDA says when a punctuation mark is typed
You can move to what you want to change, as you can
move3 in any list, by first character navigation. The period is the first
item in the list for end of sentence. To move to the second period option,
type the period. To move to the apostrophe, type the apostrophe. If
you want to see if there is more than one entry for an item, type it again and
see if you move to another one.

Hello!
Firstly, you can reduce largely the number of entries, unchecking the option to read emoticons...
Secondly, just press dot, and you will land in the two options... The same with apostrophe...

Re: changing what NVDA says when a punctuation mark is typed
There are two places for changing the way period is
spoken. One is written as . sentence ending and the other is just a
period. The sentence ending option has a period at the beginning, for
those with punctuation announcement off. Did you just change one? If
so, try changing both if you always want period spoken as period. I
wouldn't want to hear period. It's three sylables instead of one and,
while it wouldn't slow down reading more than just a small amount, I want to get
information such as punctuation as efficiently as possible. You may do
whatever you like, of course, but it might be worth considering trying the
default settings to see if you get used to them.

Subject: [nvda] changing what NVDA says when a punctuation mark is

Hi all, I would like to hear NVDA say period instead
of dot when I press a period and I'd like it to say apostrophe instead of
tick when I press an apostrophe. I found where to change this in the menus
and I saved it, but I still hear dot when I press period and tick when I
press apostrophe even though when I checked back where I made the change it
appears that the changes I made are still there. In case I did
something wrong, I highlighted the 2 things I wanted to change and tabbed
once to the edit field and typed what I wanted to hear in place of what was
there then I tabbed to okay. Can anybody
help? Thanks. Troy

Re: changing what NVDA says when a punctuation mark is typed
Hi.
In the symbols pronunciation dialog, there are two entries for both these symbols, as there are two cases where both are usually used. The long and short of it is, you'd need to change them both, but I'm not sure if this may have undesired results. Change them and let us know.

changing what NVDA says when a punctuation mark is typed
Hi all,
I would like to hear NVDA say period instead of dot when I press a period and I'd like it to say apostrophe instead of tick when I press an apostrophe.
Thanks.
Troy
