Selecting a block of text.
Ali Colak
Hello everyone,
For a while now, I have been having problems with the select a block of text function on nvda. When I place the start marker by pressing nvda f9 everything is fine, the start marker is announced. When I go to the end of the block to press nvda f10, the curser winds back to the beginning and only selects and places in the clipboard the first letter of the section. I have tried this on various browsers and the same result each time and with different types of content. I have been having this problem for a while now and am currently using 2019.1.1. I was hoping that installing the clip contents designer would solve the problem, but something similar seems to happen. help would be appreciated.

Just installed Windows 1903 and everything went smooth and everything is working fine. Took about a hour and a half to complete the update. Only issue was the volume being reset after the update was complete but it seems that this happens after each of the major updates.

Thanks in advance.

Re: NVDA and Skype
Well I use skype8 for desktop and it works. However, I don't really care for it or need it per say. This has meant I have had to drastically change the way I do business. So no skype calls at all. Due to timezones that does take out a lot of a nusence for me anyway, it also does take away some business opertunities but not many. Email, standard phone and physical contact is how I do it anyway right down to the roots. Now the entire family are in whats app and while I will not join the mega group of junk which everyone in the international group joins well who knows. I don't have a reason to make skype my entire life just like I have no reason to make twitter or facebook my entire life either.

Re: Bug in Office 2010?

Hey Quentin,
thank very much for your answer. It is the first. The window appears but it is unresponsive until you press alt+tab twice. It occurs only in excel, also with the open dialog. I cannot reproduce this issue myself but we are trying to help someone to find the cause for this issue on his PC. See also issue https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/9374

Von: nvda@nvda.groups.io <nvda@nvda.groups.io> Im Auftrag von Quentin Christensen
Hi Adriani,
Is it that the window is appearing but not responsive until you alt+tab away and back? Or that it takes a little while to appear and it just happens that by the time you alt+tab away and back it has appeared?
This can happen if you have network drives that can take a few seconds to respond. If you press F12 it should also bring up the same dialog.
If it is the save as dialog, that should be a relatively standard dialog. If you try opening it from elsewhere such as Notepad, does it respond instantly?
Finally, if you set your NVDA log to "debug", it should show more information and may give some more insight into what is happening. Press NVDA+control+g to open the NVDA general settings and tab to "log level".
You can access the log with NVDA+F1 and then copy it into an email.
Kind regards
Quentin.

Re: NVDA and MSWord Tutorials?
Ed Marquette
You have asked several questions. As for tutorials on MS Word, the NV Access productivity package is excellent. The package bundles several Microsoft Office products, but I am sure you can buy them separately.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I recommend, at least, basic NVDA and NVDA for Microsoft Word. It certainly highlights NVDA, but it also illustrat4es a great deal about the use of MS Word. As for checking your formatting, you can set NVDA to tell you things like color, style, attributes, spacing, indentation, and so on. You should have no excuse for poorly formatted documents. As for track changes and grammar checking, control plus shift plus E turns on and off the function. It lets you hear what has been added and deleted. You can jump from revision to revision, accept or reject, or edit. Check out the “Review” tab on the top of the menu. NVDA does a brilliant job of reporting track changes. As for grammar, you should really learn for yourself. Word has a grammar checker, and you can turn it on so that it reports “grammar errors” as you type (not recommended) or as you run the spell checker (F7). The Word grammar check is really very basic and not very good. For instance, it misses Oxford Comma omissions, possessives with plural nouns, and split infinitives. Those are just a few. Still, the grammar checker will catch the most outrageous mistakes though it sometimes flags errors that are not errors. Again, the best thing you can do is to buy those tutorials from NV Access. They are EXCELLENT! k

Go to the nvda website at; Nvaccess.net Click on the store link and there you will find a m s word tutorial. I think it is in both text and audio format. It costs about 23 u s dollars. I don't know if it will answer all your questions, I purchased it and it tells me more about m s word than I need to know.

NVDAConcall for topics letter.
lauracornwell <lauracornwell1@...>
Hello:
The NVDACon International planning committee would like to invite you to submit session topics for the upcoming NVDA community conference (NVDACon). The conference will be held in August of 2019.
NVDA - Nonvisual Desktop Access, is a piece of software which changes thousands of lives of visually impaired and blind people worldwide. As an open source project, NVDA is backed by a fantastic community. The NVDA community is unique by the fact that visually impaired and non visually impaired people work together to improve accessibility on Windows and to boost efficiency when working with third party applications. NVDA is not only a piece of software, it is a social movement which has spread around the world. This amazing event, which underpins the social interaction between users, developers, institutions and stakeholders, is a NVDA community conference (NVDACon). Every year, the stakeholders in this community meet at this online conference and discuss or present interesting topics related to accessibility and the NVDA screen reader.
If you or an organization you represent are interested in presenting an exciting topic about NVDA, please submit your topic to info@... by June 30th, 2019.
There are two presentation types available for NVDACon: 1. Lightning talk: a fifteen to thirty minutes talk, with limited time available for questions and answers. In one session there will be two or three lightning talks. 2. Full length session: this is usually a presentation for sixty or ninety minutes. Full sessions are great for a more in depth topic which is covered in more detail.
We are looking forward to your topic proposals.
Sincerely, NVDACon Planning Committee
you can go to NVdAcon.org. or on twitter @NVdaCon.

Re: chrome ??
Gene
You can use the command control tab to move from
one tab to the next, which is equivalent to alt tabbing through different
browser windows. You don't have to use number commands unless you want
to. Also, since you can close the tab you are in with control f4, that is
equivalent to closing one window with alt f4 while the other opened windows in
the program remain opened.
If you have a lot of pages
displayed, its better to use tabs. If only a small number, it doesn't
matter which you use.

Hi Best bet is for you to go into the settings of chrome and set it to open windows instead of tabs it is much better. Otherwise if it opens up a new tab each time to flip between them use the ctrl key + 1 to 9 been the 9th page. I think the section you need is on start up under settings and get it to open a new page and put in a web address then it should be opening in a window if i remember right. Have a look under my nvda tutorials for other programs page there is a tutorial on how to do that and do a home page etc. Gene nz On 21/05/2019 10:51 AM, Danni wrote:

NVDA CodeFactory Vocalizer and Eloquence and NVDA
Chris Shook
Hi,
Most of the bugs with the Eloquence and Vocalizer for NVDA addon are now fixed in the latest update. Fixes include, spell check fix. Vocalizer will now read the letters when reading a misspelled word. Read all command. It appears that the read all command is now working again. I just thought you'd all like to know.

Ed Marquette
If it makes you feel any better, and I am sure it does not, I have the same exact problem. The only difference is that it was on my office computer, and our information technology specialist did the installation. I think it must have something to do with the trial period. I am going to uninstall and eat race all vestiges of code factory. Then, I am going to install all over again. I will let you know if that works.
