Re: Nvda and Language Esperanto

Gene

I don't know how such things are said in Esperonto.  In the speech dictionary, used to change the pronunciation of whatever you want to change, you can put the punctuation mark in and tell the dictionary how you want it said.  But the problem is that you will then hear punctuation spoken that way in English as well.

You can get around the problem by having two speech dictionary files and manually putting the one you want to use in NVDA before you switch to the language.  That isn't automatic, but it would achieve what you want.

Hi gene, I am afraid, that I don't understand you.

If I have set the language Esperanto, Espeak says the whole addressar so:

Uzivatel backlash, appdata backslash, roaming backlash, nvda backlash, voice backlash, espeak backslash, dic.

I would like to hear Espeak saying in Esperanto.

Hi all,

I have just found out where is the problem:

When I selected the Pronuncation of the punctuation, Espeak said English.

Is it possible to read text in Esperanto, but not the keys.

I think you are saying that you don't want to hear Esperonto punctuation when you are using another language.  Aside from manually switching dictionary files, I don't know if there is any way to do that.  It sounds like something that would have to be corrected by an NVDA developer.

Yes, Gene,

but I would like to hear the correct punctuation in the moment, when I set the language Esperanto. In a text, but also normally.

I think so: if I have setthe Language Esperanto and I restart my computer, and press the key for example comma, I would like to hear a word komo.

Do you actually speak Esperanto? I've long been fascinated wby its story and already speak six languages. I wish I could hear audio of someone speaking it. How do contemporary speakers know if they're pronouncing words as originally intended?

It is possible to download Audible apps using iTunes for windows as well. You do not need the audible manager. I also did discover on the net a way of downloading using no program. If I find that article again I’ll post it.

I've never used the Audible app on PC, but I've used the Audible website, audible.com, to make purchases. It works pretty well. I think you can play your books in the Audible library from there, but don't quote me on that. Now, I listen with my Amazon Echo device. Before I got one of those, I was listening on my Victor Reader players. I hope that helps.

Nvda and Language Esperanto

Jarek.Krcmar

Hello in the conference Nvda,

I use the Espeak in Nvda, when I need something read in the Language Esperanto.

I have found out, that when I have set Esperanto, some keys are in English. For example: Comma, Colon, Dash, Slash, backslash, semi, dot...

I would like to read the keys in Esperanto, if possible.

Re: Has anyone else noticed a change in the behavior of Focus Highlight?

Takuya Nishimoto

Hello,

The development version of focusHighlight is as follows.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/9z3ar6vu116jxzm/focusHighlight-6.1-dev.nvda-addon?dl=0

This version uses nvda.ini.

If the following entries are added, it behaves as same as the previous versions.

```
[focusHighlight]
[[passthrough]]
defaultMode = False
thickness = 12
```

Note that the minimum tested version of this add-on is NVDA 2014.1, however,
this snapshot is only tested with the current version of NVDA.

The setting GUI is planned as well, but not yet created.

The customization work can be discussed at the issue:

https://github.com/nvdajp/focusHighlight/issues/3

Well, the behavior isn't "more straightforward" in mine, nor does it match the behavior stated in the documentation, and I quote:

Blue thick dotted line rectangle indicates NVDA is in focus mode, i.e., key types are passed to the control.

Unless text input is permitted (key types) in a form field or similar, key presses are not passed anywhere. In File Explorer, when traversing the files/folders list, each and every file/folder is shown with the blue thick dotted outline, even when one is not in rename [or initial naming] mode, which is the only time one is in focus mode when it comes to files/folders.

Even in Windows parlance, one is browsing in File Explorer when looking for a file. As far as I'm concerned, the visual presentation should be a direct indicator of what you are doing at that moment, and the blue dashed outline is completely misleading in the vast majority of circumstances where it now appears.

What it comes down to is if it isn't an editable text field of some sort then you're not really in focus mode as shown by the blue dotted line.
