Maybe and its far from my thoughts to suggest you might have let it laps, but perhaps the card you specified is no longer valid, but it should then suggest you set up a payment method instead. I just cannot see where the problem is as it seems to be well protected against silly entries and normally suggests a course of action to you if it goes wrong It might be something really daft like the currency is not allowed to be transferred in that country or something. Here in the UK its a bit hard to judge as everything defaults and it even gives you the exchange rate. Brian

I'd very much appreciate this. I just tried to send money to my friend again this morning and I get the same problem. Everything seems normal until after I've filled in the amount I want to send and type in a brief message. Next thing I tab to is a link saying please choose a payment method. It used to bring up a screen with the choices of my bank account or my Visa card. Now all that happens when I choose this link is Firefox makes a familiar click and I'm right back with the amount reset to zero and my message to my friend deleted out. I just tried this several times this morning, and the behavior is totally circular--that is it's just stuck in an endless loop and I never get to chose a payment method or get to the page where it just says send money now. I did send a message similar to this to PayPal and will see what they may have to say about it. Something has obviously changed on their page setup and nvda isn't catching it for me.
Thanks.

If NVDA doesn't have a spot for hosting such things I can do it from my new site.

Roger, It sounds as if you have the ideal setup for what you want to do. Well that's the good news. The bad news is it makes it harder for us to diagnose. I think we've exhausted any compatibility issues although if for some reason you're not running the latest NVDA, you might want to hit the update button.
Then we have to get into making sure you have a valid payment method on file, and looking at other things behind the scenes.
When something goes wrong, paypal has gotten decent at letting you know. Near the top of the page there is usually a signpost that tells you if there are errors. If you see one of those it would be helpful if you sent us the text of the error.

Hi! I use Paypal with Firefox all the time and never have problems with it. It's possible that other browsers don't display the Paypal site quite as well as Firefox does, but I haven't investigated that. I've filled in several forms, on different websites, where it says "invalid entry" in some of the ttext fields, but those words disappear as soon as I fill it whatever is necessary, so I would guess that "invalid entry" must simply mean that you haven't yet filled in the appropriate text. In this case there is really no involvement in a new way. the only reasons why that link ofr button to do the donation fails are. 1 the button is not in focus 2 you misstyped something, but then it normally throws you back to the offending field to try again.

What add ins are in firefox? Also of course have you tried a clean install of Firefox, as if its been updated it can end up a bit of a mess. I'd currently not reckon you should use 48 beta or any of the 64bit builds of Firefox, all have some quirks. 46 is pretty stable, but 47 is slow on some machines. Brian

I looked into this last year. How to Geek has a good comparison article: http://www.howtogeek.com/187663/openoffice-vs.-libreoffice-whats-the-difference-and-which-should-you-use/
Basically LibreOffice has been more frequently updated and has a slightly more "classic" (Say Microsoft Office pre the ribbon) look and Open Office has a few more side bar options.
In terms of accessibility I'm not sure which is ahead though being updated more often, if you encounter a problem, it might be easier to get it addressed in LIbreOffice.
Note that there is also Open365, an online office suite based on LibreOffice: https://open365.io/
Essentially it looks similar to LibreOffice but runs in a browser. As you can probably guess..... steer clear of that one ;) I tried it a month or so ago and while I could get around the system tray component, the actual say word processor was unusable. Even aside from accessibility issues (which were enough to nix it on their own - it was sooo slow! I couldn't put up with it on that basis alone either. I'm on ADSL 2 and while I wouldn't boast it to be the best connection in the world, it's not THAT bad that it should have made that much difference.
Kind regards
Quentin.

It would be also nice if there was a way to set form mode as a default for web browsing.
The suggestions above are meant to enable a "toolbox mode" for NVDA, where it silently sits in background, not interfering in common computer use, but ready to speak whenever it's asked to. It would really enhance my user experience when working in Windows.

Yes they can use the Amazon fire 7 inch tablet and several others. The 7 inch tablet is very inexpensive but has built-in speech and offers a lot to the beginner user including ease of use. Fire 7 inch list for $49.9

Re: Installing windows 10 with A Portable copy of NVDA
Kenny Dog <hurrikennyandopo@...>
Hi Helga
Is the upgrade of Windows from a usb stick or a upgrade from the pc?
There is a program that you can use for a clean install but you must have your serail number this can be found at
http://www.accessibilitycentral.net/nvda%20tutorials%20for%20other%20programs.html
It is called Windows PE and on that page is a link to the website of where you can get it from. I have not used it but others have.
The second question is under the keyboard settings on your pc there are 3 check boxs one for the insert key one for the extended insert key and the last for the capslock key. Check the last one and you should be able to use the capslock key. If you need
to use the capslock key like normal you have to hit it 2 times until you hear it go on and 2 times to make it go off.
On my pc here i have all 3 checked and i can use any combo of them, but then again I have all 3 keys.
Your computer might also have a extended insert key or a insert key there some where it might be a good idea for some one to have a look just in case there is.

Re: Windows 10 Mail app not speaking as I type
Hi,
Try to have NVDA speak characters. The last time I used NVDA in the win10
mail app, I did not have this trouble. I will check it out later and let you
know what I find and I will see how to fix the problem.

speaking as I type
If I hit CTRL plus N for
a new message or CTRL plus R to reply to a message in the Windows 10 Mail app,
NVDA says “Message edit read only” and then nothing, whether I arrow back to
correct something or just keep typing. Review mode does not work
either.
In a new message, it
does not speak as I type the Subject, but if I go back to correct a word it
does speak the subject.
Is there a trick to
getting it to speak text as I type?
I have NVDA set to speak
words, not characters. I think I am up to date with NVDA at version 2016.2.1
and the Mail app at version 17. Brian

Re: free CD-burning program that will work well with NVDA
What is interesting, opencandy itself is not malware but its list of programs are not what you would want in fact they seem to be one sided. For a while I had some codecs that advocated for other opensource software including vlc of all things. But later on it was just stuff I don't want.

You'll know something is going on when you start installing. There will be screen after screen asking if you want to install one thing or another which have nothing at all to do with the program you really want to install. They are very sneaky and sometimes if you uncheck a box you will actually be installing the malware instead of declining it.

Re: How do I subscribe to the NVDA development list?
Try contacting nvda-devel-request@lists.sourceforge.net for assistance, then.
The confirmation email should arrive within a few minutes - it's automated.
The developers' list is definitely still hosted at sourceforge - it did not get moved when the users' list did.
