Also. When I went to a folder nvda read the title when the one track was finished.  I tried this when listening to an album.

Issue with NVDA, Thunderbird, and pasting links

Scott Berry

Hello there,

I am noticing while pasting links in to my emails that NVDA 2019RC2 is taking some time to realize that the email link has been pasted in to the message.  Usually I always read my messages before sending unless I am in a hurry and I notice that when the link is first embedded it doesn't want to read the link unless I go up and down with the arrows several times.  It can vary how many times this is done.  Here are the exact steps I take.

1.  Open Thunderbird.

2.  Open a new message with Control plus N.

3.  I first write the message and when I get to the point where I think the link needs to be embedded I have the link in the clipboard and paste it in to the message.

3A.  I always try to make sure the link actually embeds so I will especially just look for the link by going up and down as well.

4.  Usually at this point is where I proof read the message and here is where NVDA has a hard time attempting to read the link.

NVDA is great and I use it every day for my work as a patient advocate.  I prefer it over any other screen reader that Windows can provide me with.

disabling NVDA collapse/expanded prompt in firefox 68.01

Orhan Deniz <orhan.deniz63@...>

Hi. probably something really obvious I'm missing here but has anyone
figured out a way to disable the NVDA collapsed/expanded prompt in the
firefox address bar of version 66 and upwards? I find it to be
slightly irritating and cumbersome as I just type my address and then move on, I
don't need to know whether its expanded or collapsed in this instance.
I have also disabled autofill in about:config however I believe this
is something to do more with NVDA than ff. also using NVDA 19.1.

Cheers, Orhan.

Re: Station Playlist AddOn Question

Hi,
Yes - these commands are native to encoders - or rather, for some of them. F9 is native to SAM encoders, while in SPL encoders, F9 presses "connect" button. F11 series (including Shift=F11 and Control+F11) is used to set various encoder options specific to NVDA such as focusing to Studio when connecting and/or playing the first selected track.
Cheers,
Joseph

No. You can be anywhere doing anything and when you are connected, it
will switch to the SPL window if you have that function on.

Golden Cursor and knowing what is under the mouse as it moves?

Joshua Tubbs

Hi all,

So I am experimenting with NVDA, attempting to start playing Granblue Fantasy
http://game.granbluefantasy.jp/

with it. While the game is not accessible and/or designed for the
blind, I figured that Golden Cursor would be able to help us navigate
to the options on that page that are not links, buttons or any element
NVDA can detect, E.G. continue and new game respectively. By default,
when moving the mouse only mouse positions are reported. How do I know
what is located under the mouse while moving it with mouse arrows on?

I'm new to the addon, so sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

Re: winamp

Gene

The person wants names to automatically be announced when you move to the next song, in other words, the next clip.  I suspect there are other cases in which people would want the title bar to be automatically read when text in it changes, but I can't think of any myself.  I think that consideration should be given to the question of whether this should be an NVDA capability that can be turned on and off, automatically reading the title bar when it changes.

I'm not quite sure what the issue is here.  If you run Winamp and press

will be read without the .mp3 or .wav extension.

Hi,

I am curious, what would DTK users think about having a settings ring style option while using the add-on? My thought is this: When DTK features are enabled, pressing control+s turns on a settings ring style option where you could left/right arrow through the available settings. While on a setting such as detailed messages, pressing up/down arrow cycles through the available options. In the case of detailed messages, the options are enabled or disabled. Pressing control+s again will then turn the settings ring off, returning control back to other DTK features. Let me know what you think over the weekend. This will be another major undertaking because it will modify the entire infrastructure for the entire add-on.

But I don't think you should make one for tab. there are times when tab is spoken in multipage dialogs such as general, advanced, etc.
Actually, IMHO that shouldn't be done with any of these entries at all.
Just imagine you are reading a tutorial, then somewhere along that tutorial the author writes something like:

Press Alt + down arrow.
In this case, NVDA will read just "Press alt +" and the instructions won't be followed correctly, unless the person spells the entire line, maybe the entire text.

A better solution would be an add-on for working only with the keyboard case. Something that the NVDA Global Extra Plugin (or something like that, can't remember the exact name) seems to do, as indicated by Rui on another message.

I think the best you can get is by Alt-Tabbing from WinAmp to a
different Window and back, at which point you hear the track title.

One thing I have noticed, and I don't know if it's a Windows update
that has made this happen, but all of a sudden I can navigate the
playlist window and NVDA will read the tracks and I can hit enter to
start that track playing. Until maybe two weeks ago all I could do
was play a directory and enqueue more files if I wanted and then
manually skip forwards with the CTRL+b shortcut.

It has always been a bugbear that I can't navigate the playlist on my
Dell laptop because I can on my Microsoft Surface Pro tablet, and
both versions of WinAmp are the same and both are using the latest
stable release of NVDA.

Sometimes if I have a couple of hours-worth of tracks lined up in
Windows that I want to play again, I'll go to the playlist and,
although I can't navigate it or hear what the title of the first
track is, I hit enter and the playlist starts playing. Then, about
two weeks ago, I heard the track title and, lo and behold, I can
navigate the whole playlist window again. Needless to say I'm totally
delighted by this, though haven't installed any new software lately
so, other than perhaps a Windows update, I can't think how it
happened! :)

NVDA add-on feature idea: Settings ring style option for Developer toolkit

Andy B.
