Are you using control+f, or control+NVDA+f?

Brian,
If I search for "NVda"  (Capital N and V, lowercase d and a) in your previous message I get no results if the checkbox for case sensitive is checked.
Well, so far we're on the same page. I just tested with my message and my results are the same as yours.
Could you try it on a webpage?

It is, but the price model was excellent. So something like 3-4 captchas a day for free, then if you want to dip into the amount of credits you bought, let's say $1.19 or $2 or 20 captchas which expire every 3 or 5 months then that would keep the spammers out.

Issues when using NVDA with comments in MS Word

Akshaya Choudhary

Hello guys,
I'm facing several following issues while using NVDA with word:
1. NVDA doesn't announce anything while entering a comment section.  By pressing Alt+R, N,  we can enter the next comment in the document, NVDA successfully enters the comment section, but no announcement is made. When I arrow up and down to read the text, it is then an announcement is made. It states comment section, then reads out the text in the comment section.  Sometimes no announcement is made while exiting to the main body of the text also.
2. No announcement is made while jumping from one comment to the other. When in a particular comment you can simply jump to the next by pressing say all command or by simply Ctrl and down arrow, NVDA doesn't announce comments being jumped. You wouldn't know in which comment you are. It is very difficult to know where a particular comment ends.
3. Impossible to edit a comment without entering the comment section. Using the letter A in browse mode, it is possible to jump from comment mark up to comment mark up within the body of the main text, but it is not possible to edit it from there itself. After navigating to a particular mark up, the context menu after pressing the application key doesn't provide the option of editing the comment. Although, I think I remember seeing the edit option once, I'm not sure though.

I would be grateful for any help in these issues. I would say, NVDA not announcing anything while entering a comment section and while jumping one comment section to the other  is creating most difficulty and ambiguity for me.

Using OCR on Images on the Web

Bhavya shah

Dear all,

For most digital OCR purposes, I simply use the OCR add-on for NVDA.
However, whilst coming across graphics and images on the web, which
purely contain neat plain text, I am unable to utilize the OCR add-on.
What I mean by this is that pressing NVDA+R and then using object
review to review the scanning results on Firefox yields absolutely
nothing for that image. I was wondering if there are alternative
strategies to employ to perform OCR on images on the Internet viewed
using browsers like Firefox to extract and access the text.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or inputs on this matter.

Thanks.

I do not know why you are having this problem. I have been using the windows 10 mail app for the last three years. When I open an email I just use the down arrow to read.  What I would prefer is that the messages AKA list of emails were next to all accounts. I have several email accounts and when I am done with one I need to tab five times to change accounts.

Hi Bill,

because I am working as a Linux admin and Kubernetes / Docker admin I
have to use the terminal a lot. Most of the time I am working in the
textbased Linux terminal.

Currently I have a Linux VM running on my Windows box, so I can use the
screen reader in this Linux VM to access the Linux servers I have to
work on. I use this setup with the Linux VM and the Linux screen reader,
because I miss some features I really need for my work when accessing
the Linux boxes directly via ssh from the Windows terminal. For example
it is much easier and faster to copy and paste text from one console to
another on a Linux system then between two or more Windows terminals :-(.

However, this setup with the extra Linux VM causes permanent discussions
with the people that are responsible for the IT security in my company.
They do not like this VM, because it is unmanaged and out of theire
scope :-). For that reason better terminal support in Windows would be
really great!

I've installed the latest alpha snapshot of NVDA and started a terminal
on my Windows 10 box.

The first thing I've noticed is, that some output in the terminal is
underlined on my braille display with the alpha snapshot. So simply the
output of a directory listing (dir) is underlined and this makes reading
such output very difficult :-(. The same occures when I am on a remote
system with ssh. With the current stable version of NVDA this
underlining does not occure.

Another strange behaviour with the alpha snapshot is a bit difficult to
explain :-(. When I am on a remote system in a text file opened with the
vi editor the character wich is under the cursor is not displayed. So if
I am on the first character in the line everything but not the first
character of the line is shown. If I move one character to the right to
the second position in the line the first character is shown and all
character from the third position, but not the second character.  This
also does not ocure with the current stable release of NVDA.

I don't know if the two problems are related to your changes to the
terminal support, the braille output or what ever in the alpha snapshot,
but both things are not happening with the current stable release. Maybe
you know this issues or you have some ideas how to solve them. If it
makes things easier, I also can open two bug reports...

Thanks for all your work and All the best from Munich,
   Chris

I am replying to your message using the latest build of NVDA and windows Mail  on Windows 10 19.03 with full normal reading and typing feedback.

There is a slight anomaly which has existed for some time in that when I first reply to a message and want to type in the edit field I need to press the alt key quickly twice to get proper typing focus.

After that NVDA behave entirely normally and as you would expect.

I am not sure then what is causing the difficulties you are experiencing but it does not appear to be generalised.

Have you considered making a fresh install of NVDA?
