Re: After installing NVDA 2019.2 and a Win10 update

It is worth mentioning. It happens to me too. However, I think my issue is linked to video driver issues. It happened after I restarted after updating. I am on Windows 10 1903.

Hi

I noticed it with beta and and release candidate ones

it must be from the snap they use but if i remember right it does not do it with the stable.

I just have to remember to go back in an check it then save settings.

Otherwise you could think it is taking a bit to start up.

After installing on the forth machine, I encountered this again. It looks like it's 50/50 here.

Re: Is there an accessible way to make Facebook calls with NVDA?

hurrikennyandopo ...

Hi

If i remember right you can also do it through the main website of face book.

You just need to go down to your list of followers see which one is online then press the enter key then i think tab down to either audio or video then press the enter key.

But you must either have a cam already installed or a audio device to do that on your say computer.

I am sure i done it a while ago but I would rather use voip where i can put in numbers etc now and again i use skype if any one is on it but they do not seem to be laterly.

I just can not remember if I ever wrote it up in the face book tutorial or it might of been when navigating it.

I have not tried the windows 10 app version if there is one.

If you do sign up and or get it running even on the web  if you want to can you write down the steps of what to do and like a tutorial and can paste.

Hi all. So somebody wants to do Facebook calls with me. I see there's a
Messenger app from the Microsoft Store, but when I installed it just now
and it came up, there doesn't really seem to be a way to do anything
with it. Using object navigation I see there's a list of buttons about
logging in, but activating them doesn't seem to do much. I use
m.facebook.com for Facebook, but I don't think you can do calls through
it. Is there a way to do these with NVDA? I tried getting them to use

Hi,
i think the messenger.com web page is able to do calls.

Why does NVDA not find photos on this website?

Giles Turnbull

Hi all,

this is only really a matter of curiosity since I couldn't see the photos even if NVDA could detect them, but it doesn't find any images with the g shortcut other than the Borrow My Doggy logo at the top of the page.

I have only just joined the Borrow My Doggy website today because I thought it might be nice to have a canine visitor for a couple of hours every so often now I'm leaving student accommodation and living in my own house.

One of the website help team told me the profile for this dog, Gigi, has several photos. Actualy it seems you have to be a member to view the dog profiles so maybe this is only a hypothetical question.

"Gigi has a few photos on the profile. He is black and tan and quite fluffy. He has a lovely little face and big brown eyes, a very handsome boy :)"

https://www.borrowmydoggy.com/dog_profile/yLk1Abbo

Is there a reason why NVDA might not think there are any graphics other than the logo at the top of the page? I'm using latest Firefox on Win10.

woof! :)

Re: Word Press

Giles Turnbull

I was sighted in the early days of the internet (1990s) so websites I designed were hand-coded html and I still do that now in my blind Wordpress blog posts. I don't do anything more advanced than headings, bold and italics, occasional lists and images so I write my html in notepad, save it on my computer and open the draft in Firefox and then, if things are where they are supposed to be (i.e. I haven't missed a closing tag) I paste it into what is I think the classic editor and then post it.

I did pay a website designer to set my blog up so that it looked okay and the admin side was navigable. I've been using it since 2016 and post once per week ... last week's was my 141st blog post.

Yes, it seems so. Would you be able to report this on GitHub?

Hi John and Jackie

Final word on the matter: I could not find the WP4nbs group on Free
Lists.  Do you have a link, please?

the classic editor is built in, and the visual one is as well. Activate the

Hi Governor staten

So great to find someone out there on the same journy.  I've been using
the Page builder add on.  so, where do I find the visual editer,
please.  When I edit a page, Page Builder is the default.  I guess I
deactivate it, but then what?

Regards

Andrew

I'm in the process of doing that. I use WordPress alone, no page
builder, if that is what you mean. You can use the visual editor and
the text editor fine.

Meanwhile, there's a work-around. It requires a few more keystrokes, but it works. Instead of trying to use the auto-complete feature in any of the fields, use the To, Cc, and Bcc buttons located above the fields. When you press any of these buttons, a dialog opens. You can then type the first few letters of the recipient's name and press Enter. A list that NVDA can read is displayed. You can arrow down and find the contact you want. Press Enter three times, and the recipient's name and/or address are placed in the appropriate field. Keystrokes access these buttons: Alt plus T for to, Alt plus C for Cc, and Alt plus B for Bcc. I hope this is clear and helpbbl.
