Hi,

Latest Firefox stable, NVDA 19.1.1

When I am editing google doc, NVDA have some problems.

For example, the doc contain the following

"Heading1

This is the text."

If I press home, NVDA speak heading1

if i press right arrow, nvda speak h (where if it is in word, NVDA

should speak e)

if i press right arrow, NVDA speak e, press left arrow, NVDA speak e again.

NVDA always speaking things repeatedly, making editing and deleting word

very complicated.

Thanks,

William

NVDA and google doc

Hi,
Using Win 7 latest Firefox, NVDA 19.1.1

If I am editing a file on the google doc,
NVDA always speak repeatedly.

If the doc contain the following paragraph:

'Heading1

This is a testing paragraph.'

Press Home, NVDA speak Heading1

press right arrow NVDA speak H(whereas if it is in word, NVDA should speak e)

press right arrow again, NVDA speak e, where if press left arrow, NVDA speak e again.

I always mistakenly deleted the wrong word or just inserted the wrong word at the wrong position.

Isn't it a correct behavior for NVDA on Google doc?

Thanks,

William

Re: WP Gutenberg needs testers.

Well with the accessability tests I did with wpaccess team, gutenberg was all sorts of unfinnished that well.

Its supposed to be better, and those that got it wrong were told off, however, there is a classical editor plugin for wordpress about which I use.

As long as it is maintained I will not be well using that.

To be honest, as long as I can use wordpressmobile and don't have to rely on the weird wordpress site thats fine.

If it doesn't, at least for my blog, I will probably switch to blogger which is google  or go back to livejournal but with all the issues with hacks, and adds I wander if I should try to get a wordpress client to write my posts in though I have no idea what is accessible.

Anyway, they need testers. No, this is not paid. The below post explains what needs to be done to get this new editor. it is not available to anybody using wordpress.com yet, just self-hosted sites on .org. I've included the Github page below as well.

Hi,

Version 19.09 isn’t out yet – won’t be available until late August at the earliest so folks can at least give NVDA 2019.2 a test drive. However, 19.08.1 can be downloaded from:

https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/addonUpdater.en.html

From there, select stable version, and Add-on Updater will be ready for download.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi all,

Add-on Updater 19.08.1 is now available. This version registers Control Usage Assistant for update checks and resolves an issue where you could not check for updates for certain add-ons with unexpected update channels set (NVDA would do nothing or play error tones).

Note: this update will install on NVDA 2019.1, but I recommend using this add-on with 2019.2. Add-on Updater 19.09 will require NVDA 2019.2.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi Ralf,

strange. The newsletter begins with 4 dashes. Do you can't see that?
If you only use speech - probably your speech engine read it aloud.
I use Nuance Vocalizer Steffi as my default German voice.
Probably when useing SAPI voices, Easpeak etc. they didn't do the same?

And you've not expressed it well.   The webpage provided (which is what I checked) looks like any other webpage, a mix of graphics and text.

You can, easily, eliminate the speaking of lines that are constituted of nothing but a single dash as well.   It's a matter of having a pattern that is not easily confused with anything else.

If what you're concerned about is a line composed of but a single hyphen (or even multiple hyphens, but only hyphens) not being read, use the pattern:

(-)+

as a regular expression match in the default dictionary, then have the replacement be empty.

Seems you haven't read the problem carefully. The dashes are not in a line, but just one dash in a line, but several lines with such a single dash.

Brian Vogel wrote:

It is a simple matter to use the default dictionary to deal with this

I long ago added an entry to the speech dictionary to handle lines of
repeated asterisks, dashes, or plus signs, when there are more than
three in a row. I've extracted the component parts here:

Comment: Announce any long string of hyphens, plus signs, or
asterisks as "separator line"

Pattern: (\+|-|\*){3,}

Replacement: Separator Line

Type: Regular Expression

If that is included in the speech dictionary any line consisting of 3
or more of those characters, in any combination, will be announced as
"Separator Line." One could, of course, elect to have no replacement,
but I never do that. I want to know that something has been
encountered, and what the nature of it was.

I'll include a couple of examples, with a description of what follows
before each. They will all read as "separator line."

All Hyphens:
-----------

All Asterisks:
**********

All Plus Signs:
++++++++++

All three characters in repeating combination:
