Re: Orbit Reader 20 and NVDA 2019.2

I discovered that Narrator was using the BRLTTY driver. I changed to USB input device and now the Orbit Reader 20 is working fine with NVDA.

I installed the braille extender. I have NVDA set to automatic for braille display since Orbit isn’t in the list. Any hints on how to get it to recognize the Orbit Reader 20?
Thanks, Richard

Add-on Updater 19.08.2
#addonrelease
Hi all,
Add-on Updater 19.08.2 is now available. This version resolves key error seen when trying to look for updates for certain add-ons, along with fixing localizations for Arabic and Ukrainian.
Note: Add-on Updater 19.09 is coming soon, and that version will require NVDA 2019.2 or later. Cheers, Joseph

There is blogging by email, for people using .com, and not .org. That link is below. I'm amazed they didn't kill the below feature like so many others have. Knocks on wood.

Hi, Latest Firefox stable, NVDA 19.1.1
When I am editing google doc, NVDA have some problems. For example, the doc contain the following "Heading1 This is the text."
If I press home, NVDA speak heading1 if i press right arrow, nvda speak h (where if it is in word, NVDA should speak e) if i press right arrow, NVDA speak e, press left arrow, NVDA speak e again. NVDA always speaking things repeatedly, making editing and deleting word very complicated.
Thanks, William

This phrase comes from CLDR database. Changing that may take a long time. Maybe we can override this in symbols.dic file as a temperal fix https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/search?q=🏴&unscoped_q=🏴

NVDA and google doc
Mr. Wong Chi Wai, William <cwwong.pro@...>
Hi,
Using Win 7 latest Firefox, NVDA 19.1.1 If I am editing a file on the google doc, NVDA always speak repeatedly. If the doc contain the following paragraph: 'Heading1 This is a testing paragraph.'
Press Home, NVDA speak Heading1 press right arrow NVDA speak H(whereas if it is in word, NVDA should speak e) press right arrow again, NVDA speak e, where if press left arrow, NVDA speak e again.
I always mistakenly deleted the wrong word or just inserted the wrong word at the wrong position. Isn't it a correct behavior for NVDA on Google doc?
Thanks, William

Re: WP Gutenberg needs testers.
Well with the accessability tests I did with wpaccess team, gutenberg was all sorts of unfinnished that well. Its supposed to be better, and those that got it wrong were told off, however, there is a classical editor plugin for wordpress about which I use. As long as it is maintained I will not be well using that. To be honest, as long as I can use wordpressmobile and don't have to rely on the weird wordpress site thats fine. If it doesn't, at least for my blog, I will probably switch to blogger which is google or go back to livejournal but with all the issues with hacks, and adds I wander if I should try to get a wordpress client to write my posts in though I have no idea what is accessible.

It is good idea, because I have tested It in Wordpress.com and It is not very accessible.

WP Gutenberg needs testers.
Wordpress added this new editor a while ago but it was not accessible. This write up explains more but the gist of it is that, frankly, blind people were not considered when building this new editor so now they are trying to retrofit accessibility into an already made editor. You can still use the Classic editor, both on .org and .com but the classic editor will be going away on both websites in 2022. December, I was told. Anyway, they need testers. No, this is not paid. The below post explains what needs to be done to get this new editor. it is not available to anybody using wordpress.com yet, just self-hosted sites on .org. I've included the Github page below as well. The relevant issue on GitHub. I'd suggest leaving your comments there so it can be tracked easier.

Thanks Shaun, this list is indeed awesome to behold, if nothing else. Will probably take a look at some of this software.
