Hi

If there is another section for in- compatible ones been on a separate page  could it say also state  until these are made python 3 compatible the latest version is nvda 2019.2.

When they are made compatable they will then be made stable on the main web site.

is there some thing already in place where it disables them if not compatable in NVDA for python 3 snap shots?

maybe also a new developer might be able to take on making it compatible in the future when they are learning how to make a add on? but in this case help make it compatible

Hello all,

to clarify abit my request, with incompatible addons I meant the addons where no maintenance is given, where we lost contact to the author etc. Those addons should in my opinion go offline for a period until a maintainer is found.

For developers, the old versions of every addon can be found most often on github anyway. For the users, it is important that people do not run into issues and do not get the impression that NVDA is getting worse. We want to avoid huge workloads which could arise if people report unrelated issues on github, driving long discussions in which at the end it comes out the issue was caused by an old addon.

The justification for my request is as follows:

The community has implemented rules and processes for addons which can be posted on the website. That’s why we have a community review for every new addon at all. And by the way, the community review contains also compatibility checks. If this is not given, the new addon is not being posted. So is it not unfair to have an old and abandoned addon on the website while other engaged authors create new addons and apply for a review but they do not get posted? In my view, the addons website should guarantee security and compatibility for users. Otherwise we can drop all our review rules and processes and can post anything on the website.

But note that this official addons website is also the face of the NVDA community when it comes to corporate environments. We must make sure that people are able to bring arguments when security questions are raised. How should users bring reliable arguments when incompatible addons and most important, addons which cause significant bugs, can be downloaded from the official website?

So the question is, what should be the purpose of an official addon website? If you expect the addons website to be an archive for all kinds of old and incompatible addons along with new addons, then we do not need to spend time and ressources on reviewing addons at all. But I hope the community will not choose this way.

Best regards

Dear all,

with this message I request the community to remove the audiotheme 3d from the website and from the translations system because it seems we cannot find someone who maintain it. This addon causes problems in NVDA 2019.2 (i.e. NVDA does not announce elements on desktop after closing applications). It will also cause problems if the compatibility is not being updated.

To avoid invalid issues in NVDA’s repository on github, I further suggest to remove all incompatible addons from the website once NVDA 2019.3 comes out. Otherwise people, especially beginners, will download incompatible addons and will run into issues.

The authors are very welcome to request a re-integration of their addons on the website as soon as the compatibility flags are updated.

Thanks for your understanding.

Best regards

Adriani

Enes,

Far be it from me to comment on how accessible something is if anyone else in the conversation is a screen reader user and uses the software under discussion.

I still stand by my earlier comment with the proviso "on the whole, Office is Office" from an accessibility standpoint.  That does not mean that what you have asserted is not absolutely true or being doubted or questioned by me in any way.   But I don't know of any recent version of Office that is not generally accessible for most commonly used functions, which is all I was trying to convey.

Never having laid hands on Office 365, I cannot make any direct statements about it other than it exists and how Microsoft handles it as a service subscription.  Folks like you can and should speak to its accessibility specifics, not me.

Hi Brian,

Allow me to correct.  Office 365, desktop allows you to download and install the packages. The packages are fully installed and local.  Office 365 can also be run online from the office portal, which confuses people. Generally, 365 and 2016 are not identical in accessibility. 365 gets better and better accessibility with incremental updates.  For example, spellcheck is much more accessible with 365.

Any of the "year dated" versions of MS Office are locally installed.   I prefer that, and that's why I have those.

Office 365 is online/cloud based, though there are local components as well.

All universities with an office subscription get  office 365.  I recommend you get 365, as it is much much more accessible.

Yes, but where are you getting it from?
GitHub or the community site (available from addons manager)?

When selected in the add on list nothing happens.
I'm not really clear on what this means. What add-on list? What are you expecting to happen?
What are your exact series of steps?

quiet time for NVDA clock

Robert Doc Wright godfearer

I think I figured out how to make the quiet time work. When you enter the time for example, starting time: 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM be sure not to place a 0 in front of the 5 (a single digit hour) and make sure that there is a space before AM and PM and they must be capitalized.

Hi to every one,

Currently there are still problems with the recovery of WOEID from the database, we hope it will be solved as soon as possible.
See:

Changes in this version:
• Implemented the recursive cities search with the valid system previously used in Weather_Plus Apixu version.
Press f1 in the settings window for an explanation of the available commands.
• Fixed issue with deleting some * .pyc, * .pyo modules during an NVDA update.

Weather_Plus can update itself, however you can download it from the following pages:

%tmp%\nvda.log for the current or most recent session, or %tmp%\nvda-old.log, for the previous session.

Note: unless you post it on Dropbox or some other file sharing site, you can't send it here. This list doesn't allow attachments.
You can attach it to a GitHub issue about your problem, and then post the link to the issue or the log file here, however, if you want to do it that way.

Subject: Re: [nvda] Google Drive and NVDA and Windows

Hi,

The problem is that Google Drive doesn't show up either on the desktop or in the app list.  I see docs, sheets and some others but not drive.

thanks.

If you've already installed Google Back-up and Sync, just go to your desktop and click on Google Drive. It opens just like Windows Explorer, and you can browse and manage files from there. I hope that helps.

Does it have newer voices? For when the actual update is available that is.

Hello all!

To start the adaptation of Vocalizer from Tiflotecnia, we here invite

all licensed users to test the Beta version of the driver!

It is available here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7sv75j5016pbpla/vocalizer-driver-2.1.0-ALPHA1-1.nvda-addon?dl=1

This version is only compatible with Alpha versions of NVDA running on

Python 3...
