Regarding IVONA, you can buy a SAPI5 version or a NVDA version.
If you can't find them, please say...

I, too, am interested in purchasing IVONA voices. I've used them with System Access, and they're great. But I didn't think they were available for use with NVDA. So, if someone could provide links, I'd be grateful.

Re: Section Symbol not reading
Quentin Christensen
Rae, Mine was set to Level: All. What that means is it will ONLY get read when the symbol level is set to All. NVDA+P moves between Symbol levels: None: No symbols are read Some: Very common symbols such as % and # are read. Most: Most symbols are read. All: Every symbol is read. So, to have it read at more punctuation levels, set it to something higher on that list - some, for instance. Regards Quentin.

Yes it is free. You can download it hear: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q3qmo2z7zifi56l/EqualizerAPO64-1.2.1.exe?dl=1 and for documentation and information on the app, you can go here: https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/wiki/Documentation/ Cheers!

Hi. Press Control+escape keys. You'll land on the search box.
Tab twice and you'll see the list of applications on your pc. It
will be something like "All Apps List: Recently added grouping".
Arrow down 3 times and you will hear the following: "Configuration
editor, new", one more arrow down and you will hear "Configurator,
new", and the next arrow down will give you "BenchMark, new".
Assuming that Equalizer Apos is the most recent of your
installation, then you can simply choose one of these to work with
it. If not, just press the first letters of the list above and
you should get there. For simpler access, you might want to send
anyone of those to your desktop as a shortcut. Cheers!

Sorry, got another one for you. Lol I’m trying to install APO now. In fact, I’m on my second attempt. Already rebooted once. I don’t see any shortcuts anywhere. I did a search and it gave me the exe file in my downloads folder. Don’t know why I can’t locate and open the program. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Hi. No. In my case i think I put up the gain and the bass more
than my speakers could handle, so it was just a noticeable hum.
But I have made the propper adjustments. I will write more after
more detailed exploration. Cheers!

Hi Jaffar!
Are the bleeps loud and sharp like something’s happening with the speakers? Is it less likely with the Windows One Core voices which I love? I prefer Mark. Since he’s a little less synthetic sounding, I thought that might not be quite as much an issue as with more computerized sounding synths like eloquence and ESpeak. I just don’t want to damage my speakers. That’s my main concern. I’ll be messing with something I’ve never used so I wanna be careful.

Re: helping a friend with some strange behavior in Mozilla Thunderbird
Go to the "advanced" tab under display. Tab a couple times, and you will see the option as to how to open messages. The second radio button is the one that should be checked. It will open messages in their own window. Hope that helps.

Hello,

SAPI5 means you can use the voices in more than NVDA. You could also use them in JAWS or Narrator. The ones made for NVDA means you can use them only with NVDA. Greg Wocher

I can't seem to find them. Can you please link me to them? Also, what's the difference between the two aforementioned versions? SAPI5 vs NVDA?

Re: Identifying capital letters
Giles,
Yes, that regex pattern is definitely "the bomb" for finding the sort of issue you wish to find. It took me a while to parse it apart to understand it in its entirety; I'm a bit rusty these days. Now that Windows 10 has PowerShell, you could even use it in conjunction with the grep (short for get regular expression and print) command to have specific lines where the issue is found produced so that you can easily search for those lines. The thing I don't know is whether you can actually run grep against a .docx document or if you'd need to save a plain text or rich text format version of the file for processing. In any case, even if there is an intermediate step, you can use this method to quickly identify the vast majority of instances of uncapitalized sentence starts, capital letters embedded inside words, or capital letters on words within sentences where they'd typically not be. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1903, Build 18362 The color of truth is grey. ~ André Gide

They are actually using the same extension but for
some reason, when downloaded, they arrive with a zip extension. Change the
extension to the usual one and install them in the usual way.

How does one install the plug-ins that are packaged in zip files?
Most are packaged as installers but there are a few that are zipped.
Thanks.

Re: Identifying capital letters
I agree Brian ... mind you my dissertation is in poetry so doesn't necessarily folow the same grammar rules as prose. I do have a friendly proof reader and will be running it by her before submission, but I wanted to try to iron out those errant capitals if I could.
The regular expression search is useable, since I know when it flags capitals that are not preceded by a full stop whether it is corect to do so :) Giles
