Hi Once you have set a location, the most frequently used commands are NVDA+w to read todays forecast NVDA+Shift+w to read forecast for up to the next 9 days
If you try pressing NVDA+w and you get an error saying the WOE Id is missing, you need to set a location, as follows:
1. Open the NVDA menu using NVDA+n 2. Press the letter p to open the preferences sub-menu 3. Press the letter s until you find “Weather Plus Settings sub-menu s”, and press enter 4. Press the letter m to open the “Set and manage your cities” dialog box. 5. in the edit box, type in your location and postcode in the form CityName, PostCode 6. Tab to and press "test" button. 7 if the location is valid you can hear a beep , tab to the details button and press it to read the location details. 8. you can set the location as the Preset default or simply add to your list using the appropriate buttons 9. Tab through the other controls, checking options you want to include in the forecast for your location. 10. When done, tab to OK and press enter
If you want to learn more about the other features of Weather_Plus you must read the readme.html file you find on the nvda menu, preferences submenu, weather plus settings, documentation.
Cheers Chris

Hi, when I arrived home late last night, Saturday, I switched on my pc which uses Windows 10 64 bit and the latest version of NVDA and it asked me if I wanted to upgrade from 7.0 to 7.1. I have now the latest version on my pc, but how do I use this addon, ie what keys do I press to get results please?
Thanks for any help, Steve Thacker from the UK.

As the subject line indicates, I would like to know if it is possible to access the formatting options while composing an new email using the gmail's basic HTML view as it is in the standard view. Please let me know if this feature is available and if so, the key commands to get to the formatting options and apply the desired changes in the body of the email. Re: NVDA and accessible kindle book
Bianka Brankovic <bianka.brankovic@...>
Hello Mary,
I cannot reproduce the behavior with one of my Kindle books on pc. However, I know that the accessibility features can behave differently whether you are accessing a Kindle book with an Iphone or a pc. Have you tried switching off the TTS with Ctrl-t? Does this have an affect on NVDA? Also, I have read somewhere that Kindle for pc needs enhanced type setting enabled in order for the accessibility features to work. Just my two cents. Kind regards, Bianka

Re: Weather_Plus7.1 update available

Hi Adriano Could the problem be anything to do with the weather.ini or weather.zipcodes because I note these files are in the Appdata\Roaming\NVDA folder, so are used by all versions? If weather.ini from an old version did not get removed, would the creation of weather.ini from a new install create weather(1).ini?
Cheers Chris

Re: ALVA 544 Satellite Traveller braille display with NVDA
hurrikennyandopo ...
Hi,
RE: RS-232 to USB 2.0 cable for a braille display. Sorry about that, I just realised that I hadn't emailed you the link I promised from Ebay! Anyhow, this guy sells both the female cable and the male cable. On the back of my braille note it is a male connection, so I bought the female RS-232 to USB 2.0 cable to go on there. It also came with a driver mini CD which works on my Windows 10 operating system. I just use it as a braille display, rather than a note taker.
I know that when I enquired here at PBTech (in New Zealand) they only had a male RS-232 to USB cable, but apparently I could have bought an adapter for $10 to change it to female.
I have just had another quick look on Ebay for you. It seems that they also sell the RS-232 gender changers if you wanted to adapt the cable you already have. Sometimes though it is just as easy to get the proper cable already done. I have been happy with
the ones that I purchased. They are also nice and long. Regards, Gene

Re: Is there an accessible video editor I can use with NVDA?
I actually was going to suggest reaper, as it only takes about an hour to render about 2 hours of content on a good day or rm. but I'm on a mac. Whe I use reaper it takes 30 minutes to render 2 hours of content on my windows machine, so I'd say it is yrou processer that is barfing. Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. . Hi all, I have tried open source video editor Shotcut. Opening videos is accessible and we can move through them, but I'm not sure how to join videos and/or move segments. Replay Media Splitter, a program that I thought would be accessible due to their other products, is not accessible. So, does anybody know of an accessible way to both remove segments from video via selection, and also join videos together? Reaper video rendering is very, very slow and is a deal breaker for me. Thanks.

Well, I really wish Replay Media Splitter was accessible right about now.

That app opens videos extremely fast and I can hit play without it buffering and freezing. Virtual Dub is just as bad as Reaper with large videos. I open it, hit space and it buffers like crazy. I'm not sure what to do about it. When I hit space it says dub in progress and I can't hit any key to stop it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If other video editors open videos and play them back without any issues it can't be a CPU problem.

This is the link I tried from the email you sent out on Saturday. It still is not working. My daughter thinks the add-on is broken or something. She even looked to see if there were any messages coming up on the screen when it will not allow me to do anything with the cities or settings and nothing is coming up. Did the log I send not show what is going on?
Thanks for all of your help.
If we remoted sometime would that help you see what is going on?

Hi Sally, From what you described, what you are doing and what we suggested should normally work. If you can send me offlist a copy of the spreadsheet you are using, I can have a look at that. If you let me know which lesson in the material you are working on, I can double check that they are in fact correct. Kind regards Quentin.
