Hello,

I am having some serious issues with the NVDA Alpha  18747 build and Browse mode.  I am experiencing errors when attempting to activate browse mode, and also when attempting to traverse through a multiline edit box such as the Gmail compose editor. Is anyone else seeing this?

Hi Robert,

I hadn't thought of that, since I didn't think the Edge's language would effect what was being sent via the terminal. I'll have a fiddle later and see if I have any luck!

Hello all,

I took ownership of my Braille display - a Braille Edge 40 - yesterday, and thus far, I've been able to work out how to do most things I want/need to do with it.

However, I'm having trouble inputting German Braille. When, for example, I try to insert "??", i get "`" instead. Braille output, however, is fine. I've had a look at the Braille Table files, and it would appear that dots345 is assigned to at least two things, and I'm assuming this is where the problem is: NVDA (or rather Liblouis) doesn't know which one I want to enter.

Does anyone know where I'm going wrong, or if there is some sort of fix for this problem? Please keep in mind that I only started learning German at the start of the year, and am completely new to German Braille.

the signs fort he Umlauts differ whether you are using six-dot or 8-dot braille.

I usually don???t use braille input so would have to research the exact braille signs myself.

From your description I would guess your braille table has been set to 8-dot braille which is the normal setting for computers.

You could do two things here: try to set the braille table to six dot braille.

-?????????????????? Input the umlauts in 8-dot braille.

It is an alpha version, programmers should concentrate on the code and not on the documentation in such a early state of development…

The feature is built into the latest 2019.3 snapshot. You have to go to the input gestures and set the gesture you want to use.

Hi, I have posted this before sorry for anyone who already has seen this but it might just help. using speedy fox might help as well. I have around 10 machines that I maintain and just do not see this on any of them. and they all tb on them. anyway some instructions below this is not my own work so I can't take any credit if it does help. good luck.

General sluggishness with Thunderbird. I have a feeling, though,
that this is a Thunderbird issue and nothing to do with NVDA.
Try disabling Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Enable Global Search and
Indexer. Note that this isn't accessibility or screen reader specific,
but I personally found that global search didn't help me and was a
performance killer.

Does no one else ever experience this issue?

 

It seems strange completely removing and re-installing NVDA does not correct the issue.

 

It turns out no NVDA-generated dialogue boxes show up.

 

Press Caps Lock + N, go into Preferences, and select any menu item that leads to a dialogue box. Nothing at all. No error messages. Nothing.

 

Are there some shared NVDA components installed somewhere else I should remove before trying again?
