Agreed here! The second male voice is
the one I'm using now. The 2 female voices do need some work
though.

Right, so I didn't do what you did, and jaws is still doing fine
with tb while NVDA most times struggles. So what is the catch
there?

Well it depends what you are doing. I do have my performance settings quite high, but yeah the system is lagging a lot between tasks, but I am on battery and working the system quite hard now. Its holding charge quite well but since I don't go out as much I need to use my battery when doing work which is not audio related as I knew it chews battery a lot faster.

I never understood why people are getting this lag? I don't get it. If you delete your trash regularly, change the settings so that absolutely nothing is saved on the machine, and delete emails rather than keeping junk mail, there is no lag what so ever with NVDA. I don't get it, and I don't understand why so many are having this issue.

Re: a question about Addon Updater
hurrikennyandopo ...
Hi
the add on updater updates supported add ons that are found on the official nvda add on web page.
I read on the list about 60 percent of them are ready to go with nvda 2019.3 when it comes out. So they are updating them so they work on it.
I think if you have nvda 2019.2 100 percent are compatible
It is because of the new python 3 code they need it to work on.

Jaws is now doing better with thunderbird than nvda
Jaffar Sidek
Hi. The subject says it all. Just recently, I've been having a smoother experience using Jaws 2019 with Tthunderbird. While with NVDA Thunderbird drags and lags like some creaky old machine, it seems to have developed a better understanding with Jaws. IF there are lags, they are less pronounced. Going through mail, typing out messages, these chores seem to be less frustrating, in fact, without frustration on most occasions. I used to think that NVDA would always be a smoother ride with TB hands down, but not any more. I hope the powers that be will take note of this. Some have pinpointed TB as the cause, but I'm not sure it is so straightforward as that anymore. I had to resort to checking and writing mail with Jaws as my screen reader because NVDA is giving me daily frustrations when it comes to dealing with TB. Cheers!

Using Open VPN with the Nord vpn service
Jaffar Sidek
Hi. I believe there were some enquiries with regards to using the NORDE vpn client some time ago. As the Norde vpn client isn't accessible the alternative would be to use Open vpn instead. Here are the instructions I wrote for someone else which i am now copying for those of you who enquired. Copied message below. Hi. Sorry for the delay. I've had lots of work and family commitments, but here's the alternative to using the Norde vpn Client.
First, go download open vpn from https://openvpn.net/community-downloads/
and just follow the default installation instructions.
Now, i am assuming you have an account with norde vpn, so go ahead and log into your account. Look for the "Servers" link and click it. Navigate with the H key for the list of servers and their related countries. So if you are looking for a server in the US, just search for the "United States" link and click it. Now, navigate to the heading that says: "find the best server for your needs. Hit the letter B to quickly get to the "Find the best server button" and press the space bar. Norde's Smart algorithm will find a server that suits you, a United States vpn server in your case. With your down arrow key, navigate to the link that says: "Collapsed, show protocols." Click it and the choices will be extended. Choose: 1. Open Vpn Udp, Arrow down once and click the "Download Config" link to download the configuration file. 2. Arrow down to the "Open VPN Tcp" config, arrow down again to the "Download Config" link to download the file. Note: you might want to download both files to a convenient location such as your desk top. Once both files are downloaded, copy your files to, if you have installed the 64bit open vpn client to C:\Program files\Open Vpn\config. To connect, just go to your system tray, look for the open vpn icon and press the context menu key. your Configuration files will automatically show up. Choose the server name/number, press enter key, arrow to connect and click the enter key to choose it. Then fill in your account details as registered with Nord VPn, tab to the connect button and your connection should be working as expected. Please ask any questions if in doubt and I will do my best to answer as soon as I can. Thanks,

Re: Playing tracks on Bandcamp.
JM Casey
Hey John.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
I remember this topic coming up a while back. I use Bandcamp quite a bit. Unfortunately I also still use JAWS most of the time and I have not had any issues playing tracks in bandcamp using that reader. I thought back when this came up before I was able to do it with NVDA too, but maybe they have changed something. I will certainly takea look and see what happens.

Anybody know how to play tracks on Bandcamp? For example: https://sundryitems.bandcamp.com/album/there-where-the-avalanche-stops I used to highlight a button above a track name, hit numpad-0 and numpad slash together, and then hit numpad slash, and it would play. I've tried that, using numpad plus slash and then numpad plus enter. I've tried getting to a button and hitting NVDA-space and hitting space and enter. Nothing seems to be working. Is this just broken now, or am I missing something?

RH Voice

I still had the email with the link to the page so I found and installed all the English voices. It is working just fine and sounds promising. One voice sounds very like DecTalk and another kind of like Eloquence but they are all very easy to understand.

Text Reading Question
Greg Rhodes
When I have a numbered list in a MS Word document, NVDA will read the number e.g. 1 followed by my text, and then read the next number in the list e.g. 2. I arrow down a line and I get the number 2 followed by my text and the number 3. What setting do I change to get NVDA to not read the next line number at the end of the previous line? Thanks.
