Hi,

Where are you getting these from? If you contact me off list, I could try to look into it. If you could let me know who the publisher is, that would help.

Yeah, the last time I use FileZilla, I was unsuccessful. I couldn't bring files from the local system over to the server by copy and paste for some reason.

Actually that's not true. I use reaper's interface for editing and recording on windows and it is better than audacity any day. I love it and it is rock solid. It has a high learning curve but you can learn it in about 3 or 4 weeks. There is a dedicated reaper list you can look for on groups.io, just look for "RWP."

I suspect it is a side effect caused by na update in Windows because I still have a portable instalation of nvda 2018.4 and it worked before but now it also has the problematic behaviour.

Maybe narrator and jaws use a method to access treeview’s information that was not affected by changes in Windows.

Has this worked before i.e. in 2019.1? If so there were some fixes to

Which is, in actuality, where this belongs and really should have started out to begin with.   An initial question regarding what is, or is not, accessible with NVDA is appropriate for the main group.   The moment conversation turns to "how to use" any given program, where that's the focus, it is no longer about NVDA and virtually never includes a single NVDA specific element (or when it does, it's incidental).

Digging into why any given program, save NVDA itself, is not working is a Chat Subgroup topic.  I appreciate your recognition that's the appropriate venue.

We need to discuss why the various programs mentioned either stopped working for the person asking the question, or are thought to have stopped working.  At this point, it may be that any recommended program will either stop, or appear to stop working, given the first message.  I think it would be best to discuss Pontes Media Downloader first, since I suspect that is the most widely used program by people on the list.  But others may want to discuss other programs.

BrailleConnect 40 Query

Ivan pivac

Hi List,

I have been using a BrailleConnect 40 display with NVDA as this display was one of the displays under the Braille option.  In recent releases of NVDA, the BrailleConnect 40 is no longer on the list. The HumanWare Brailliant is available but not a substitute for the BrailleConnect 40.  I have tried using auto detect and brltty as an option to connect to the display but without success.  I have selected USB as my preferred connection type and had installed the Baum USB driver which previously worked with NVDA.  The display is working just fine via BlueTooth on my iPhone so I know the display is functioning okay.  I would appreciate any thoughts the list may have as to what other options I can try to re-install and use the BrailleConnect 40.

Many thanks

Ivan

I don't use the current version, mine is rather old.  My understanding is, however, that the current version is accessible, though perhaps not quite as accessible as some older versions.  I use my version with NVDA.

You don't say what you are doing, uploading something, downloading something, nor whether you can successfully log into the server.  And we don't know the procedure you are following for uploading or downloading.

Re: Downloading from YouTube

I wouldn't use the dvdvideosoft products for 1 reason.

Opencandy which is a unwanted program previder and uniblue which are one of these programs, dvdvideosoftware stuff is full of spyware that will mangle things.

I used to use that for a while but eventually the spyware situation became a lot of programs and a lot of extras that crippled windows.

I struggled with it for 5 years, but after having to reformat just about every time I updated it because of more and more spyware installed and even with it removed th mangled nature of windows needing me to reformat, for what I used the software for what it was I had to reevaluate its use.

Same was for  cdex to.

I tried the applian stuff but some important bits are mouse only and while I can set it up, and while yes for the price its really good pro software  I don't use it enough.

I used to use youtube2mp3 and others but stopped doing that.

Now every software package has its issues.

For me the pontes stuff will jump into the file menu when you hit alt to switch tabs, and that can be a little infuriating at times but its just a small niggle.

Sometimes a video in a playlist can not be processed due to, an error with a hex value but thats about it.

While there are options to update its components I never have to so it must update itself all the time and thats fine with me.
