Re: audio description

ely.r@...

Bit confused am I. Thought the audio description feature in Ease of Access would display videos with AD without having to turn them on for every source. This is what the Audio Description setting in IOS accomplishes. In looking at the feature on a Windows web site, what I found referred to Seeing AI and its use with a smart phone. Am I missing something?
What am I missing?

what is NVDA's com registration fixing tool?

molly the blind tech lover

Hey everyone, Molly here

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I am wondering, what is NVDA’s  com registration fixing  tool? I want to learn as much as I can about NVDA, and I am curious as to what this tool is and what it is used for. I looked through the NVDA user guide before posting but I could not find info about it under the tools section. Perhaps I missed something?

Looking forward to hearing from you guys

Have a great weekend 😊

The podcast is Breaking in Windows.

It deals with incorporating NVDA in a talking installer.

The particular episode is Levtech Winstall makes Windows 10 chatty.

So found my way to the Blindcooltech site which displayed a link to this winstall program. However when I click on the link the page I want times out and invites me to try again.

Any ideas or perhaps a direct link to this program.

Andrea

Hello Sarah and list,

If you are unwilling to provide an answer short of telling someone to Google something and that you will not hold their hand, please refrain posting messages to the list. This message is not strictly for Sarah, either, which is why I am posting it to this list. If you wish to include links where people can get more information, or if you want to add a link to a Google search result or something, that is fine, but if you have nothing to contribute other than telling someone to Google something, please don't think that your input is valued or needed. I think that people should research information on their own, and we should give people tools to help them do so, but I don't think that we should go on list and tell users to "Google it" without giving them any additional information.. Also, please remember that everyone is coming from a different place, with different abilities. Hand-holding, as you call it, is pretty much what any mailing list or forum is, if you think about it. There is very little that you cannot figure out if you read help files, do lots of research, read books, read through past archived messages, etc. Yet we still have a mailing list. I am not saying this to say that people should not research... indeed, I think part of a mailing list means that you should try to do a basic search first before asking a qustion in order not to post so many repetitive questions which can be easily found, but most any question on any forum or mailing list in my mind can be considered as hand-holding if someone answers. We are here to help one another.

We are here to help one another, yes, however just like the franchise I'm in they do not hand hold, not all the time. You are after week 2 on your own. So yeah on the reaper list we will hold your hand and give you the tools but after that we don't hand hold if you are asking basic questions such as How do I go from track 1 to track two. We gave you the tools, now use them.

Hi, Brian,

I stopped using thunderbird because of its sluggishness in both jaws and NVDA. That’s why I’m using the mail app. Maybe you can’t import your contacts from thunderbird but it’s still a good program.

I had my thunder bird set to never check for updates but it updated to

the latest version anyway.  It still stops reading and I have to restart

nvda if I can.  Then when I go back in to thunder bird it says thunder

bird is not responding.  This is the only program that crashes nvda.  I

truly hope that somone is working on a fix for this problem.  It makes

thunder bird usless. This is the best email program I have found yet.  I

will never go back to windows live mail because I could not send mail or

open links in messages.  I have nvda 2019.2 and windows 19.3 this

problem just keeps on getting worse.I did not care for the mail app

there is no way to import my address book from thunder bird.

Re: Downloading from YouTube

Sarah k Alawami

No I cannot. Google youtube-dl and download the exe for windows, runit and read the man page or pages for it via man online. But the thing is pretty simple. Do youtube-dl URL of playlist of youtube or twitch or mixer or what ever.

I use youtube-dl. It is a command line program but it works well, and it keeps getting updates every month or so.

Maybe narrator and jaws use a method to access treeviews information that was not affected by changes in Windows.

It is more likely that something has changed in Eclipse itself. Could
you please focus one of these doubly announced treview items, press
NVDA+f1, copy developer info for this object, and send it here?
