Re: Replacing an Input Gesture

Chris

The gestures.ini hold the custom gestures set in nvda

It can be found under c:\users\your profile name\appdata\roaming\nvda\gestures.ini

Rename  or remove then restart nvda to reset

Subject: [nvda] Replacing an Input Gesture

Hello,

I am using Windows 10 (with all automatic updates installed), NVDA 2019.2.1, and a Braille Edge display. The HIMS driver is installed.

I began editing the Input gestures. I did not realize removing all gestures for a command, E.G. Alt_F4, would entirely remove the command as well.

Now that the command is gone, How do I get it back?

First, I looked through the documentation to see if I could re-enter the Alt+F4 command and found nothing. Next, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling NVDA. Finally, I repeated the uninstall/reinstall process. This time, however, I removed all NVDA folders I could find. These things did not fix the problem.

I can think of two things that might have kept me out of trouble.

1. Notify the user that removing the final option for an Input Gesture will remove the gesture, too.

2. Have a method for creating gestures. In my case, this would allow me to replace the functionality I accidentally deleted.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

code factory down

Hi.

Just tried to deactive eloquence to see what will happen.

It looks like the activation server for code factory is down.

I have purchiced all this stuff via atguys.

Maybe atguys is part of it, atguys is down with an error.

So, right now, no high quality speech.

Lets hope that all gets fixed soon, I want my software to work and I want my favourite tech store to come back.

issues with synths

Hi.

Today I decided to play a game with my high quality sapi synths.

However the code factory vocaliser sapi synth just doesn't work, keeps saying I need to register, however it was working today then stopped suddenly.

Eloqunce still works, but vocaliser doesn't.

Tried to rereg, but it will not connect.

I am assuming that there are server issues but atguys.com seems to be down to, and I can't find any mention of vocaliser sapi on the code factory web page.

I really hope this doesn't become it, I payed good cash for the synth packs, and I use vocaliser extensively.

I have switched everything to ms david till its all solved but for now who knos.

No. And there almost certainly shouldn't be.

Re: question on html hook for screen readers

Many screen reader share's the same HTML command. There is really no way to tell when a person is using neither Jaws nor NVDA less they are using different synthesizer.
NVDA uses E speak as it's default Synthesizer, and Jaws uses Eloquence as it's default TTS.
I have figured a way to tell whether a person is using Jaws or NVDA. To tell a person is using Jaws or NVDA, I basically hear how each screen reader read's the page.
Jaws and NVDA have different styles of reading.
Thanks for asking.

How to read UWP WebView and TextBlock with runs in NVDA

Vytautas Leonavi?ius

Hi,

I am trying to improve accessibility support of an UWP app.

App contains WebView control  and TextBlock with Runs, both in a Scroll Viewer.  I was unable to make NVDA reading those.   Narrator reads them with no extra effort.  I think it should work, I am just not using right shortcut probably – but I could not find one to read those for me.  What am I missing?

Thanks!

The first field is station name then serial number (I usually just copy and paste) then code. Then the next screen is for your email address and the code that they emailed you.

Hello all.

I haven’t installed SPL for quite some time so I’m at a loss.

When entering the serial number and code in the SPL registration field, do I need to insert dashes and spaces; or are they automatically placed where they should be?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Riot IM gets an accessibility upgrade.

Riot IM is basically like a more feature heavy Miranda NG. I like Miranda NG better because it is very small and portable, but I wanted to share their below blog post. I am very glad to see they scrapped a few things to build with accessibility in mind.

Hi all

I know this has been reported before, however can somebody please clarify which versions of either NVDA, Windows, or outlook this affects?

The issue is that NVDA’s speech is silent when moving through the message list in a populated inbox in outlook. It only occurs on certain setups – I was hoping for a quick clarification on where this issue is present.

Thanks

Hi
I don't think there is an equivalent of the Jaws F8 to select a table. To get feedback on cell co-ordinates, press NVDA+Ctrl+d to open the Document Formatting settings and check the appropriate box.

Cheers

Hi Everyone

Although I installed NVDA some time ago, I have not used it very much but have had occasion to do so lately.

Is there an easy way of selecting a table on a web page? for example, like F8 in JAWS?

Is there a way to configure NVDA so that it displays the cell reference in Excel? At the moment I just see "Cell" which is not very helpful.

Thanks
