Re: Microsoft one core voices
I'm not sure. I have all three of those voices here, and I just installed them in the same manner you describe. But, weirdly, the default is always the UK voice, because Windows does not have a Canada display language, so any website or app that wants to give me a "local experience" always gives me the English version. I don't know how we encourage Microsoft to learn that Canada is not British. I think that's the bigger problem.

Microsoft one core voices
Running Win 10 1903 and latst released NVDA. TTrying to add more one core voices. So far what I have done is go to windows settings then time and language then speech. I wend to add a voice and selected English Canda. I now have English Canada, English British and English United States shown as my voice options. However when I go to NVDA settings under speech One core voices I think I only have English United states voices. What step am I mkissing?

When did you last update NVDA? This happened just a couple of days ago when I updated the addon for Win10. ****** character is found in how you treat people who cannot do anything for you!

Re: NVDA's OCR not working on Facebook.
I have English US and English UK, and it's set to English US. And since you say the linked image recognizes for you, there's definitely something weird going on here. Huh, I wonder if it's an addon? Because disabling addons actually makes it work. Not always, sometimes images that supposedly contain text are blank, and recognition on the ones that get recognized is sort of hit or miss, but highlighting the "image may contain one person, text" for instance and hitting NVDA-r actually does something most of the time. Now the question is, which addon? I feel a long tedious process coming on tomorrow.

I use mobile Facebook in Firefox, too, and can visually confirm that, for me, images aren't loaded in newsfeed, but I can't remember if I had to change a setting for it to be that way.

We've "fixed" that issue with OneCore voices now, so you don't need to adjust the rate in Windows settings anymore - you completely adjust the speech rate from NVDA's voice settings (NVDA+control+v) now just like with other synthesizers.
We also just added rate boost as an option for Windows OneCore in NVDA 2019.2, so if you looked in 2019.1 or earlier then you wouldn't have encountered the option for OneCore :)
Finally on all this, another thing not everyone may have encountered, from 2019.2 you can toggle rate boost (for OneCore and eSpeak NG) from the synth settings ring. Press NVDA+control+left or right arrow to move between options, and NVDA+control+up or down arrow to change. If using Laptop keyboard layout, add SHIFT to both of those commands.

Hi all, At least two users reported that Windows 10 App Essentials 19.11 doesn’t work on their computers, and it turns out it is related to the fact that the add-on relies on NVDA 2019.2.1 changes. Just in case some of you didn’t upgrade to NVDA 2019.2.1 (which I highly recommend that you do upgrade), I’ll release version 19.11A of this add-on tonight. Sorry for the inconvenience. Cheers, Joseph

Which version of Excel (and which version of NVDA) are you using? As I mentioned in my other reply, there was an issue with Excel last year from memory where that would happen, but it should have been fixed. If for some reason you are stuck on a version with that problem, the fix was to go into Excel's advanced options and toggle "allow editing in-cells".
You could also try NVDA's "COM Registration fixing tool" if you are getting "blank" and "unknown' in other places as well - press NVDA+N, then T, then down arrow to "COM registration fixing tool" and press ENTER.

Quentin.
