NVDA remote
Robert Doc Wright godfearer
Good news. I removed win10 app essentials from my laptop and now remote works again. I still need to know what to do with a remote.2.2 does not allow the user to connect or open options.

Some voices cannot be used due to their lack of support for sapi 5. Hazel can be used but mark cannot for example. You would probably need to take this up with Microsoft in regard to this. No. That isn't even the right synth. Change that first, then check your voices.

Running Win 10 1903 and latst released NVDA. TTrying to add more one core voices. So far what I have done is go to windows settings then time and language then speech. I wend to add a voice and selected English Canda. I now have English Canada, English British and English United States shown as my voice options. However when I go to NVDA settings under speech One core voices I think I only have English United states voices. What step am I mkissing?

Re: Microsoft one core voices
David Csercsics
I'm not sure. I have all three of those voices here, and I just installed them in the same manner you describe. But, weirdly, the default is always the UK voice, because Windows does not have a Canada display language, so any website or app that wants to give me a "local experience" always gives me the English version. I don't know how we encourage Microsoft to learn that Canada is not British. I think that's the bigger problem.

When did you last update NVDA? This happened just a couple of days ago when I updated the addon for Win10.

you say the linked image recognizes for you, there's definitely something weird going on here. Huh, I wonder if it's an addon? Because disabling addons actually makes it work. Not always, sometimes images that supposedly contain text are blank, and recognition on the ones that get recognized is sort of hit or miss, but highlighting the "image may contain one person, text" for instance and hitting NVDA-r actually does something most of the time. Now the question is, which addon? I feel a long tedious process coming on tomorrow.

I think there's a way to install and uninstall OCR languages in Windows, but a (really very quick) search in the settings app didn't yield anything.

When you go to the "Windows 10 OCR" category in NVDA's settings, is English there?
