dropbox issue
Hi.
Seems dropbox has fixed their clogged server, and the file is going fast again, wander what it was.

Re: increasing rate of windows one core voices
Did you raise the native 1 core voices to 100 percent and control the nvda slider after that? That tends to help me there. I have the rate boost on and I don't notice any choppyness. increasing rate of windows one core voices
Jaffar Sidek <jaffar.sidek10@...>
Hi. I have increased the speech rate of my NVDA One Core voices to the maximum 100% but it is still rather draggy. I tried to boost the rate via the NVDA speech settings but I don't like the result because speech then becomes more choppy and less intelligible even when I drop the rate down after applying the boost. Is there a way I can speed up the speech via the native windows speech settings itself? Thanks for any help. Cheers!

Re: passwords and also a dropbox thing
I'm having no issues with dropbox on all of my platforms. I would check your own network and ping times etc with a 4 packet ping to google's servers. I'm on their pro plan so not sure if that makes a difference. Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. . For more info go to our website. passwords and also a dropbox thing
Hi.
This is a 2 part message with a 2 part subject. I could do 2 messages but both topics are short so I won't. 1. passwords should and I repeat not be saved anywhere especially in a web app aparently they are not secure. On the security note, its been confirmed today via winaero, that microsoft security essentials will end its little stand alone life at the end of windows 7 lifespan. You should all know when that is, its been bandied via microsoft via its addware compaigns, its websites, its news, its updates, this list, its various social network channels, in other words, its next month. So another reason to upgrade to windows 10 is simply you will not have any antivirus protection at all. I suspect with msse out, every other security manufacturer will probably follow suit in short order. Unlike xp, at least for a while, a lot of the programs that ran on windows 7, will continue to be updated maybe for a bit but still. Lastly, what is up with dropbox. Someone or thing is really bogging down the platform, the update to the software which usually is done in minutes is taking hours and hours, failing a lot. I have had to resume downloads multiple times. Once I get it done on my system I will run the update on each system with it from a flash drive. I am not sure if it effects the entire network on their end but something is consuming their entire cloud space bandwidth. I don't use it for much but if you needed a reason to not use it, that would be it. google itself seems fine the only time they dropped out is when their datacentre close to us failed. They probably do more than dropbox ever did but yeah dropbox is running slowly.

remember your addon and I went and got it. Still haven't messed with it much because it was right before I went to bed. I didn't think of it right away because this is the first thing I've had with a touch screen that I might want to use as a touch screen. I'll check your tutorial out as well.

Handbrake works, but can be a bit fiddly. There is also a command line version available.

FFMPEG is accessible (it is a command line program), but is not for the faint-of-heart.

Re: How to copy previous spoken message by NVDA without speech history addon
Gene
The correct command is NVDA key numpad 5, if you
are using the desktop layout. You can use numpad insert numpad 5.
But this isn't related to the last speech. It copies the text of the
current object to the clipboard.
If you write a bit of text in Notepad, then use alt
f4, you will get the do you want to save the changes message. Yes is the
current object, as you can hear by using read current object, numpad 8.
&You must be in object review to reliably hear the correct text and only the
correct text. Using numpad insert numpad 5 will copy the word "yes" to
the clipboard, the current object. But that isn't necessarily what is
desired and isn't related to the last speech, only to what the current object
is. You may thereby copy something you want, but you may hear a good deal
read that won't be copied that you want to copy.
Gene .

Re: Using NVDA on a tablet.
Hi,
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
Ah, touchscreens... 1. Moving around text inside a window: this is done with what's called "text mode" (you can toggle between at least two touch modes by doing a three finger single tap; I'll explain why I said "at least two modes" below). In text mode, one finger flick right or left will move to next or previous character, two finger flick right or left will move to next or previous word, and one finger flick down or up will move to next or previous line. This is in relation to review cursor. 2. Thunderbird email entries: if the logic from other email clients is applicable, then yes, you can move between messages by using one finger flick left or right in object mode. 3. Touchscreen tutorial: already covered by yours truly as part of Welcome to NVDA series. As for my remark on touch modes above: yes, I did say "at least two modes". The reason: Enhanced Touch Gestures add-on (I know, I find myself advertising my add-ons on a monthly basis...). IN addition to text and object modes, Enhanced Touch Gestures adds two additional touch modes: * Synth settings: used to change synthesizer settings on the fly such as rate and voice (two finger flick left or right to step through settings, two finger flick up or down to change settings). * Web: used to navigate between different web elements (one finger flick up or down to go through web elements (regular/normal, headings, links, form fields, frames, tables, landmarks), one finger flick left or right to move amongst elements). But that's a small taste of what that add-on can do (it is perhaps one of the most powerful add-ons out there besides Remote and Windows 10 App Essentials). Cheers, JOseph

From: nvda@nvda.groups.io <nvda@nvda.groups.io> On Behalf Of John Isige Sent: Tuesday, December 17, 2019 9:13 PM To: nvda@nvda.groups.io Subject: [nvda] Using NVDA on a tablet. Hey all. I know this has been talked about in here before, but it seems to have been pretty brief. I don't want a whole crash course on using a tablet, I'll keep it to a simple use case. I have QRead, or Notepad, or whatever open with some text. I pull the tablet off of the keyboard, so now it's a tablet, it's a Surface Pro, if that matters. I can move around on the desktop or whatever to get to a program, and double tap it, and it will open. I still haven't figured out if that puts me in its window, so let's say the window's already open. How do I: 1. Get to the window, and put focus in the window? 2. Make the window read, i.e. a say-all, the equivalent of NVDA-a in the laptop layout? I assume touching anywhere on the screen will stop it. I've briefly tried messing with this, and although I get the basic swiping to objects and such, I still haven't figured out what happens once an object is active, lie what I'm talking about here. I don't know how to get inside of it and manipulate the insides, so to speak, with touch gestures. As another example, assume I open Thunderbird. I'm not sure the individual messages get treated as objects, do they? If somebody can cover this use case, I can start playing with things, and I can see about making a tutorial, at least in text and possibly audio, since I know I'm not the only person to ask about this.
