Yes, I agree, but Charles gave the correct hint. I just tested it with US Win10 and US keyboard layout: control right-alt-E does the job.

For the benefit of anyone using an English (British) Keyboard layout, the Euro (€) can also be generated by holding down the right hand Alt key (Labelled “Alt Gr”) and pressing the number 4 on the top row.

I just got it. Closing and reopening Thunderbird fixed it. I also checked to make sure I was set to classic view before I closed it.

Switch to the classic view in Thunderbird.
After updating it to the latest version, just restart it, it should be fixed itself.

3. When you mention the tree view are you referring to the list of
folders, such as inbox, drafts, etc.


Have you tried the following?

1. Close Thunderbird.

2. Quit NVDA.

3. Restart NVDA.

4. Restart Thunderbird.

Anyone who wants it on can  turn it on but it shouldn't be the default.  Most programs, don't asume you want to save changes and will ask if you close the program.  At the least, NVDA should do the same, if the developers want this setting as the default.

I dunno, for me save settings is a good idea on exit as I often fail to save, evenin word documents etc. It's bitten me in classes, I dont' want ti to bite me in nvda.

I looked at these links. In Chrome, NVDA was reading them correctly for me. In Firefox, I saw the behavior you described.

               

Looking at the  HTML rather than putting text into the <a> element, the designer used title to label the links. SO, my guess is that when focus is placed on the links with either k or tab, they are spoken but not when using the browse mode. I don’t know if this is a Firefox or NVDA bug.

using object navigation produced exactly the same result as using the cursor keys ... NVDA said "link" but nothing about what it is a link to. Only using the k shortcut keystroke added the information like Facebook and Twitter.
