Hi.

The NVDA 2019.3 will have screen curtain. After installing the beta you can create a gesture which will allow you to enable the screen curtain. The screen curtain turns the screen black. This means sighted folks will not be able to see what you are doing. My mum confirmed this, as she was not able to see anything I was doing while screen curtain on.

Also there’s a warning message that appears when you enable screen curtain but you can disable it.

Hi.

In the beta  there is a vision category. Along with focus highlight there’s screen curtain. If you go to input gestures, scroll down to the vision category, expand it, and you will see something like toggles the state of the screen curtain. I think the vision category can also be found in NVDA settings.

hi.
i believe that all versions of burnaware are accessible for screen readers.
sometimes, in the what's new, i read accessibility improvement, or
better support for screen readers.
since i did not burn cd dvd for several years, i did not test any of

unfortunately, burnaware.com
does not archive older versions of its program anymore.

I have some mp3 files that I want to burn to a cd. I have tried using the
normal burning method via windows media player but it says it can't burn
some of the files and doesn't want to burn any of them. I thought I had
another way using FreemakeVC but it will only convert audio files, it won't
burn them to a CD.

Does anyone know of another way that is compatible with NVDA? Looking at
google shows a ton of them but no indication which is NVDA compatible. Free
would be better too. :)

Thanks.

locked Re: REMOTE

Well, here again, I am going to lock a topic.

I actually proposed the idea of forking remote and integrating it into NVDA myself, on the recently locked topic  NVDA remote.  It appears from what Joseph Lee wrote that the idea is being entertained, and that at least one of the original developers of NVDA Remote is (or was) in discussions with the folks at NV Access with regard to the future of the add-on.

One of my resolutions this year as moderator is to put a stop to topics that are just repetitions of topics that have been discussed, at length, mere days before and where there is absolutely no value in having the same discussion again since nothing has changed.  That is but one of the reasons for several of the NVDA Group Rules:

1.  Use threaded or conversation view in your e-mail client program or webmail and reading through the entirety of a topic before replying.  It gets you completely up to speed and avoids a lot of repetition.  If you choose not to use threaded/conversation view, please take the time to read through all messages from the group that are in your inbox prior to adding any reply to the group.  It’s the only way you can be sure you’re up to speed on any topic when not using threaded/conversation view.

2. If you have reason to believe your question has likely been asked and answered in the past please search the Group Archive first before asking it again.  Step-by-Step instructions for searching the group archive using the Groups.io search or a web search engine of your choosing: Searching_the_NVDA_Group_Archive.docx

I'll extend #2 to include having reason to believe any given topic has been covered, particularly in the very recent past.  And I don't believe that most memories are so short that five days ago wouldn't be within the memory of most members who are participating routinely.

Traffic is really high on this group by comparison to many others.  Beating dead horses, or at least not allowing hospitalized horses to be cared for when it's been noted they are hospitalized just days ago, serves no one.

Topic locked.

Re: NVDA add-on Developer toolkit 2020.2 is now available!

Andy B.

To clarify the use case scenario for Developer toolkit, its audience is any blind or visually impaired software/web developer who is required to create user interfaces such as desktop UI elements, or web pages through the use of pure CSS, HTML, or any other page layout framework like Bootstrap, React, JQuery, or front-end frameworks like Angular, DJango, Flask, and others. It isn't a desktop publishing assistant. Therefore, it doesn't work in Word, Publisher, Adobe Illustrator, and Creative Suite. Although Creative Suite output is nothing more than web content, so Developer toolkit will help in this case. Some of the frameworks Developer toolkit works with include: Native Win32 GUI objects, MFC GUI objects, dgango, Flask, Python, PHP, CSS, HTML, JavaScript and any framework based upon it, WX (a Python GUI library), Java and Swing, .net Winforms, .net Webforms, and a whole host of others I can't name.

Hi,

I just had a look at the details of this add-on. It sounds very promising, yet I am not quite sure where—i.e., in which application—I can use it. Can this be activated when working in MS Word or any other text-editing program?

Thanks,

You are using the add-on and Therefore, the question should be, is it a bug in the add-on, not in NVDA.

The add-on generally works well.  Perhaps there is something about your system that makes the add-on unable to detect if a change occurred.

This page gives a little information about how the add-on works.  It may or may not give you any ideas about what the problem might be but you will have a little better idea of how it works, if you didn't read it before.

hi friends,
I have Asus laptop window 8 Operating System running on my machine
with NVDA 19.2
What i have noticed is, when I select any content and copy, It gets
copy but NVDA says no change.
Where is the problem?
Is this a bug in NVDA?
I will be thankful to you for the help.

For me also the current incompatibility of the BrailleMe add-on is a showstopper. Innovision is aware of this and they are working on it.

Hi,

This will work with web browsers at this time, as it is mostly meant for web developers and accessibility specialists.

Cheers,

Joseph
