I don’t know if my original suggestion  ever got posted but this  problem disappeared for  me when I went to DropBox preferences in the system tray and turned badges notifications to never show in the General tab.

 

I have never, since  doing this, had had any issue opening Office Files of any kind in my DropBox under Windows.

 

I mention this again as it seems not to have been discussed as an obvious solution despite my trying to post it yesterday.

NVDA 2019.3 beta 2 now available

Hi everyone,

NVDA 2019.3 beta 2 is now available for testing.

This update adds a few new features and fixes from beta 1 including: 

- The new Windows console support using UI Automation is no longer used by default as it is not yet ready for production use. However, it is still available from NVDA’s advance settings panel. (#10684)
- NVDA no longer freezes in the new version of Microsoft Edge that is based on Chromium. (#10675)
- A short sound is now optionally played when screen curtain is turned on or off. (#10611)
- Fixed an issue when upgrading configuration from recent alpha builds. (#10598)
- Fixed an issue when navigating lists with table navigation commands. (#10623)

For the last few months, many of you were wondering about what’s going on with NVDA Remote add-on, which isn’t compatible with upcoming NVDA 2019.3. I’m delighted to announce that something is indeed happening with the add-on. According to Reef Turner, an NV Access staff and NVDA developer, NV Access people just sent a series of patches to Remote add-on developers to make the add-on ready for NVDA 2019.3.

Hi, I am not going to be of to much help really, but I have 2 of said radio's and seem to remember that the Cps software was not very accessible using nvda. I just get a mate to program the radio up. don't really like the handset.

I use Excel 2007 under Windows 10 and I get the same issue regarding editing VBA macro code. NVDA totally loses track and I usually end up copying the whole module into Notepad, coding there, then replacing the module code an debugging. It's a long standing issue which I've posted on the list in the past bbut the issue has not been replicated by other list members, so nothing has ever been done about it. Your post is the first time i've seen anything on the list regarding this issue other than my own posts. Sorry I can't offer a solution.

You can use JAWS as a demo and that may be enough for your purpose.  I see no reason for not calling something what it is. 
 
If you can program whatever you need to program within forty minutes, your problem will be solved. 
 
Also, there may be someone who would write scripts for NVDA to deal with this problem at some point.
 
You also might be able to figure out, if structures are accessible in JAWS, what steps to take to make NVDA see them.

play with it as it is a free download from the Radiodity web site
and it appears to startup and run even if you do not have one of
the radios connected to your computer but there probably is a
specific deficiency that many different applications have that
this whole syndrome describes so I am hoping there is some way to
beat this monster in to submission as I have one of the radios
that needs programming and my worst fears seem to be validated.

One person suggested I need a popular Windows screen
reader along with some add-on scripts that should make it work.
It probably would work but spending $1200 to program 1
seventy-five-Dollar radio is ludicrous.  One can find somebody else
to do it but we amateur radio operators constantly are changing
things so it is important to be able to do this one's self.

Any constructive suggestions are welcome.

Pele,

I'm sorry, I should have asked for versions of the software you are using.
In case there is a problem with versions.
1. Are you using a PC, Laptop or MAX?
2. What version of windows?
3. What version of NVDA?
4. What version of Office?

With regard to the disappearing VBA code, what happens if you press
control+tab? This should switch between open modules of code.
What keystrokes do you use that show that there is code there and what do
you do that tells you the code has disappeared?

A: I'm not sure what you mean here. Is it that the other program
cannot be accessed or that you cannot return to the Excel screen?
Could yo clarify your meaning here?

I have noticed that sometimes nvda will say 1 thing like a field but I need to hit a button before it realises its either no longer there or something.

It could be simply dodgy web page design though.

from mack on some sites like walmart.com lately when I go into focus mode to write in the box, I finish writing and then press nvda spacebar, I find I did not write anything. so, I have to re locate the box and re-write what I wanted to write. is there something dealing with focus or tracking that I need to turn off. this only started recently.
