screen search again
Darren Harris
Ok so I tried the incert ctrl plus f command. That works but if there’s a combo box to show previous search strings I can’t seem to find them.
Any help here?

Re: Help getting NVDA to read descriptions of elements in SVGs

May I suggest you raise an issue about this on https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
This seems connected to other things that have been pointed out there, and which elements NVDA reads is certainly a development matter. You might also point it out on the devel list (nvda-devel@groups.io https://groups.io/g/nvda-devel) Luke

Hi
What do you mean by screen search.
You do not mean like do a search of a web page?
If that is the case use the nvda key + ctrl key + the letter f when the dialogue box comes up enter in your search term. there is also a combo box that will tell you your last 20 searches etc Can not remember if they can be saved?

Well, that’s interesting – I’ve been following the Edge update thread as well (thanks for the upgrade link) NVDA with Edge Chromium JUST reads the aria-label text on this page and ignores the <foreignobject> content https://www.creativemedia.org.uk/interactive-trees/filtration-tryout.html …whereas Chrome JUST reads the contents of the <foreignobject> tag and ignores the aria-label.
It’s starting to feel like 2003 again, trying to keep all the different browsers happy…. ☹

Hi, This is my first post here – I develop learning resources for a university and we want to make them NVDA-friendly.
I’m currently working on a decision tree, which can be seen here: https://www.creativemedia.org.uk/interactive-trees/filtration-tryout.html
I want to add an invisible description to each node on the tree to help NVDA users navigate. Below is part of the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) from the page: I’ve used the aria-label tag to explain where the node fits in the tree, but my NVDA doesn’t read it out. I’ve also tried title, alt and label in various places but they don’t get read out either. Can anyone give me any hints or solutions? All I can think of is to use a hidden <div> which I don’t think is an ideal solution. Thank you
<svg width="950" height="800"> <g class="node" transform="translate(697.5,95)"> <foreignObject tabindex="0" focusable="true" height="48" aria-label="Option for choice, 'An example of a decision tree.'" width="110" x="-55" class="nodestyle">Keep liquid</foreignObject> </g> </svg>

Re: Accessible password managers, again.

KeePass makes it extremely easy to synchronize your database between devices. In fact, if I update the database on my local computer, it is automatically updated on my iPhone and iPad. Likewise if I update on the iPhone or iPad, it is also updated on my computer. It is free and very secure.

Re: Accessible password managers, again.

I’m personally a 1Password user and am happy with my family plan and while you can find plusses and minuses and even flaws in any option out there, as this Washington Post article outlines, regardless of what service/app you end up picking, the important thing is to use something. Anything. My email has popped up on some of the data leaks announced these past years, but I don’t really sweat it since it’s often as simple as going in and changing that one password for that one service. They’re also good for hacks like continuously getting introductory offers or discounts for subscriptions and services. While I’m not hardcore like some people out there who cycle through monthly Amazon Prime one month free offers with different emails and log ins, I do do this for periodicals like the WSJ or the New Yorker or say other services that’ll give you the first year at a discounted rate, but bump you up to the full price the next year. Password managers make keeping track of this sort of stuff super easy. 1Password is fully accessible. Be it for Windows or iOS. I recall some folks saying that Dashlane really wasn’t accessible, but that was a while ago so who knows if there have been any improvements with it since then.
Cristóbal
From: nvda@nvda.groups.io <nvda@nvda.groups.io> On Behalf Of Nimer Jaber
Hello,
While it's true that 1password has cloud options, and keypass is local, 1password makes password syncing between devices much easier. Moreover, 1password is secured with a key and now also with 2FA, thus making the likelihood that my password gets compromised that much more unlikely. In fact, I trust 1password with its layers of security over just about any other cloud provider which I might choose to use to store my database and have it synced. And yes, I could choose to just keep it offline, but that just isn't convenient. :-D
Tyler's right though, everyone should make those considerations for themselves about what level of risk they are willing to tolerate, and how they choose to perceive the risk.
Thanks.

The last version of Thunderbird that reads the status line and the read/unread status of messages properly is 60.9 or 60 something.

To get to Dropbox preferences, click on Dropbox in the system tray. A new window will open. Tab until you hear something like "Manage Settings" and press Enter. Then arrow or tab down to the preferences and press Enter again.

Hi all,
Is there a way of using nvda to do a screen search whereby you can also store multiple search strings so you can access them at any given time?
