I get the same message.  It looks like a fairly generic description and was possibly caught by Defender looking for potentially suspicious behaviour and flagging it (NVDARemote does after all, let one user look at what another user is doing on their machine, which also happens to be exactly the kind of thing trojans do, although of course for different reasons and Trojans endeavour to do it without the user knowing).  I'll look into it.

Hopefully the fixes etc will fix the problem but even though the one saying there might be a trojan most people do not know how to report them as a false postive.

Re: New terminal features

Bruno Aníbal Prieto González

Thanks, that worked, although it doesn't work for WSL, only for the
official Windows, CMD and Powershell terminals. WSL counts it as if it
was a command sent directly to the terminal, not to NVDA.

2020-01-08 21:59 GMT-03:00, Quentin Christensen <quentin@nvaccess.org>:

control+up and control+down arrow scroll the screen visually. You can use
NVDA's review cursor to move around the text on screen. If you press
NVDA+6 and turn off "Caret moves review cursor" then the review cursor
won't get dropped back to the text caret if you do use control+arrows to
change what is visible on screen.

Hello,
Wishing you a merry Christmas, I am writing to raise some concerns
about the new terminal features in NVDA 2019.3.

Specifically, with CTRL + up or down arrows it says that you can move
the console window up or down to be able to read what is before or
after. However, using the WSL you only get a sound that indicates that
you pressed the wrong key, and in Powershell or CMD although it starts
reading what is before, it is not possible to navigate to it using the
review cursor modes.
It is also indicated that with CTRL + start or end you can go to the
start or end of the console output. But these commands, at least in
Powershell and CMD are reserved to delete the text written before and
after the cursor. Anyway, they don't work on WSL either.

I would be very grateful if someone could tell about their experiences
with this topic or if something else is known.

Thank you very much in advance

Re: Word Docx With Tables

It is difficult to comment definitively without access to the actual file but one of the tricks I have used in the past in trying to access difficult tables is to save either the Word Document or Spreadsheet involved as an HTML file and then try to read it using your web browser.
As I say I can't say for definite if it will help in this case but might be worth a try.

Re: Cakewalk by Band Land

There are soft synths that are accessible with Reaper. Also, you can use Cakewalk's soft synths in Reaper. Maybe not all of them, but some anyway, it's been a while since I looked into it. I won't say more as this should go to the Reaper list. I mean, if Sonar and CT are working for you, cool. I'm not saying you should change just because. But you would get stuff that's actually being worked on and updated. You could always install Reaper and mess around with it, it won't affect your Sonar and CT installation at all.

Two things: DocuScan 3 has not yet been discontinued though it has not had an update for a while. MS Word 2013 can convert PDF, but it may not be readable if it is done from images rather than text. This is where DocuScan can help. Again, NVDA is not the best way to use DocuScan. Quit NVDA before starting DocuScan.

Shaun, DocuScan Plus was worth it while it lasted. I still use it, and it works well with NVDA. Unfortunately, as I understand it, Serotek will no longer update or support this program and System Access at the end of 2020. Richard can correct me if I'm wrong, and I hope I am.

Andrea, if you're trying to open a pdf document, you can do this in Word 2013 and up. Simply use Word's open dialog to find the file, and press Enter on it like you would any other document. Word will convert the pdf to a docx file. NVDA reads most files pretty well this way. I hope this helps.

Yes. Brian is right, on second thought. Leave the setting on, download Josephs patch until NVDA 2019.3 comes out.

Re: Turning off UI Automation in new Edge

I would not be in any hurry to do this.  Joseph Lee has already posted that a fix has been made in NVDA for UI Automation.  It's something that really should be on, and will be on for other things going forward.

Unless you need it to be off for another screen reader it's much wiser to apply the NVDA fix.

Hi, Cearbhall.

Bear in mind that I'm not a regular user of Calc.
First, it's important to go into NVDA's document settings and ensure that the option for cell coordinates is checked. This is also true for Excel and it ensures that NVDA reads the cell coordinates, such as B1, C2, etc.

In the past I remember having to occasionally move focus away from and then back to the spreadsheet. I usually did this by pressing the alt key twice.

Finally, I think that LibreOffice is now up to version 6.3 and so it might be worth installing that version to see if performance improves.

I agree with your comments regarding LibreOffice. OpenOffice Calc may be a good alternative and if people find that it's doing what they need they should certainly continue to use it. However, LibreOffice receives many more updates with bug fixes and feature additions. If there's ever a chance for accessibility in Calc and Writer to be improved we're likely to see that happening in LibreOffice before OpenOffice.
