Re: Confusion Over Chrome Based Edge Browser

Well there are 3 branches.

Aparently there is a way, however to make it more of a mess.

I downloaded chromium stable, aparently a few places have autobuild sites.

Bar a few api keys needed for features, chromium is the same as chrome without some of the google features, and edge with the microsoft features.

Apart the only reason a user wouldn't use chromium over chrome or edge is that there are no official binaries published and it doesn't seem to autoupdate itself.

However, chromium standard form can be used by anyone so its going to be an interesting year.

Hi

Sounds like you have 2 versions of it on your computer both the dev version which is more like the alfas and the beta version.

There was a link which I will post that come across the list for the stable version at https://c2rsetup.officeapps.live.com/c2r/downloadEdge.aspx?ProductreleaseID=Edge&platform=Default&version=Edge&source=EdgeInsiderPage&Channel=Stable&language=en

It is for the chromium version of it.

You could then uninstall the other 2 versions under add/remove programs or what ever it is called in your version of windows.

It should also import your settings etc.

i am using it now at present.

I think if you have windows 10 and nvda 2019.3 beta 2 you are right to go.

But if i remember right if you are using nvda 2019.2.1 you need to get the dev version of windows esentuals for it to work on that version?

There was also a small tutorial on how to turn off UIA or what ever it was called in edge.

For sure, it did install the stable new edge and replaces the old one.

Hi all.

On the subject of edge, it may come past in the next update pass.

It is supposed to be out today.

Usually updates come out between 5 am and 8 am new zealand time, equate
that to your timezone.

There is a windowsupdate twitter and blog which will tell you to.

Currently if I search for edge I get a page which states thats its
almost there.

I'm not going to push it if it doesn't.

Yes you can install edge stable yourself, and you can also just as
quickly remove it.

I'd wait for the full system integrated  version myself.

There are a few pinned icons and links to word and other microsoft
online things to manage when you do at least with the stable version.

Some of these I do not personally like.

It does seam that you will have to make sure you reset your internet
brouser though after install as things became a little messed up after
install when I did it.

It will be interesting what this eventually does.

For myself I do wander things like what chrome will do and the
differences between it and chrome will truely be.

Most people in the house are chrome users and I am a waterfox user and
this will not change that much as everything we have is up there.

I fully presume microsoft edge will only allow native connection to
microsoft services but who knows.

If you install stable, the old one will hide. You won't see its icon, but it will still be there as some apps still use the edge like interface.

Re: Word Docx With Tables

Quentin Christensen

With only "NVDA using... Office .. has difficulty handling this format" to go on, it's hard to suggest anything definitively (what difficulties?  Can you navigate between cells, read the content, is either Word or NVDA giving an error message? etc.).

So firstly, to ensure we're all on the same page, here are the table navigation keys:

To move between cells, press CONTROL+ALT+ARROW (eg CONTROL+ALT+RIGHT ARROW to move right one cell in the current row, CONTROL+ALT+DOWN ARROW to move down one cell in the current column)

To set headers in your table:
Set column headers: NVDA+control+C
Set row headers: NVDA+control+r

If NVDA is in Browse mode, you can jump to the next table with T or SHIFT+T for the previous table.  You can press comma "," to move to the first thing past the end of the current table, or shift+comma to move back to the start of the current table.

I got all those out of the User Guide in the following places:

If any of those aren't working or you're still having problems, feel free to reply, or if you have a sample document you can email, you can send it to me directly (you can't send attachments to the list) at info@...

Regards

Quentin.

I get the same message.  It looks like a fairly generic description and was possibly caught by Defender looking for potentially suspicious behaviour and flagging it (NVDARemote does after all, let one user look at what another user is doing on their machine, which also happens to be exactly the kind of thing trojans do, although of course for different reasons and Trojans endeavour to do it without the user knowing).  I'll look into it.

Re: New terminal features

Bruno Aníbal Prieto González

Thanks, that worked, although it doesn't work for WSL, only for the
official Windows, CMD and Powershell terminals. WSL counts it as if it
was a command sent directly to the terminal, not to NVDA.

2020-01-08 21:59 GMT-03:00, Quentin Christensen <quentin@nvaccess.org>:

control+up and control+down arrow scroll the screen visually. You can use
NVDA's review cursor to move around the text on screen. If you press
NVDA+6 and turn off "Caret moves review cursor" then the review cursor
won't get dropped back to the text caret if you do use control+arrows to
change what is visible on screen.

Hello,
Wishing you a merry Christmas, I am writing to raise some concerns
about the new terminal features in NVDA 2019.3.

Specifically, with CTRL + up or down arrows it says that you can move
the console window up or down to be able to read what is before or
after. However, using the WSL you only get a sound that indicates that
you pressed the wrong key, and in Powershell or CMD although it starts
reading what is before, it is not possible to navigate to it using the
review cursor modes.
It is also indicated that with CTRL + start or end you can go to the
start or end of the console output. But these commands, at least in
Powershell and CMD are reserved to delete the text written before and
after the cursor. Anyway, they don't work on WSL either.

I would be very grateful if someone could tell about their experiences
with this topic or if something else is known.

Thank you very much in advance

It is difficult to comment definitively without access to the actual file but one of the tricks I have used in the past in trying to access difficult tables is to save either the Word Document or Spreadsheet involved as an HTML file and then try to read it using your web browser.
As I say I can't say for definite if it will help in this case but might be worth a try.

There are soft synths that are accessible with Reaper. Also, you can use Cakewalk's soft synths in Reaper. Maybe not all of them, but some anyway, it's been a while since I looked into it. I won't say more as this should go to the Reaper list. I mean, if Sonar and CT are working for you, cool. I'm not saying you should change just because. But you would get stuff that's actually being worked on and updated. You could always install Reaper and mess around with it, it won't affect your Sonar and CT installation at all.
