You can actually go to settings of the add ons manager, and uncheck the boxes that have something to do with auto updates.

Re: Error with NVDA addons

Hi,

At the moment translators are finalizing their work, and once that completes (early February), 2019.3 RC should be out, at which point things will accelerate. I have advised (or perhaps will advise) add-on authors to prepare to release stable releases that will support (or require) 2019.3. At least from my side, all my add-ons are 2019.3 ready or will require 2019.3 (Add-on Updater will be the very last one to require 2019.3 due to vast install base).

Cheers,

Joseph

That's precisely what I've been doing.  Given the degree of changes, and their sheer number, for the 2019.3 release I had expected a transitional period where either NVDA got ahead of the add-ons or the add-ons got ahead of the released NVDA and that all will settle out when "both are on the same page."

There are only so many hours in the day and people on a development team.

I also presumed that there would be updates to the add-on updater itself when time permits, but that this would not be top priority until NVDA 2019.3 and the corresponding add-ons for same had already gone live.

Hi,
At the moment it cannot block add-on downloads - we need a separate table in add-on files repo to store compatibility ranges. This is being worked on as part of a proposal to revamp the add-on release workflow.

Subject: [nvda] Requesting NVDA to add a function to automatically speak pasted text

Hi all,

I hope NVDA or NVDA addon can add a function to automatically speak pasted text.

I do a lot of typing word, including copying and pasting of text, sometimes involve pasting words repeatedly.

I now, after pasting with ctrl v, I have to press ctrl left arrow or up and down arrow to read the pasted content.

As I do a lot of these steps repeatedly, I want a function to save time.

I have also posted a request on Github, but someone closed my issue saying that NVDA has the function to press ctrl c to speak clipboard text.

https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/10709

Pressing extra keys like ctrl c is not what I needed for my work.

I am unhappy my issue was closed by someone without responding to what I have suggested.

I don't mind you say that the function is not needed by every body, and
is not going to implement it.

Here I would like to bring this to your attention.

Please do comment on my issue. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

William

Re: Requesting NVDA to add a function to automatically speak pasted text

Sucks this request was closed because I'd like this functionality as well. As a setting though, so that way it can work with profiles and such. Also, a character limit. Dang. I'll go check out github and try to bring up this point there, even though the topic is locked.

Joseph Lee's add-on updates: Control Usage Assistant, Enhanced Touch Gestures, GoldWave, Object Location Tones #addonrelease

Hi all,

In the next few hours four add-on updates will be released (note that all of them will require NVDA 2019.3 beta or later):

  • Control Usage Assistant 20.01
  • Enhanced Touch Gestures 20.01
  • GoldWave 20.01
  • Object Location Tones 20.01

These are the add-ons that were scheduled to be released a few weeks ago but were delayed due to NVDA 2019.3 compatibility concerns.

Note: if you are using NVDA 2019.2.1 or earlier, you can ignore these releases. But there will come a time when you may need to upgrade to 2019.3 or later to take advantage of improvements coming in NVDA.

Cheers,

Joseph

Re: Confusion Over Chrome Based Edge Browser

Hi Group,

Well, I have three Edges.  The Microsoft Edge itself no longer works.  The one called Microsoft Beta no longer works.  By this I mean that when I launch the shortcut, a blank page loads and there is no access to menus or anything else.

The one called Microsoft Edge DEV works.  Under the help/about properties dialogue, I get the following information:
Microsoft Edge Microsoft Edge is up to date.Version 81.0.389.2 (Official build) dev (64-bit)

I am running NVDA 2019.3 beta 2.  When trying this one out, it seems quite good.  I was able to fill out a simple form. I was able to play a radio station and I was able to navigate crowded and complex web pages fairly easily.  It even recognizes visited links--something that the original Edge release a few years ago did not exhibit either with JAWS or NVDA.  So it's a keeper and maybe even a default browser if I decide I want to make the switch.

Hi.

My guess is that they both are the Chromeum based one, just different development channels of it.

If you have installed the released version yet, then you probably don't have any non Chromeum based edges left, heh.
