Re: facebook site?

If you use NVDA key space bar to turn it off, it
shouldn't turn on again automatically. Use the same command to turn it on
again. If it still turns on automatically when you are on the same page,
there is a setting in browse mode settings, control insert b, to open the
dialog. I don't recall the exact wording, but you should know it when you
see it.

Could someone please explain to me how they manage to use the facebook site with NVDA? This site makes me want to smash my keyboard from frustration. Especially the group search feature In this site, browse mode enables itself automatically alot when it shouldn't, and NVDA jumps all over the page. Could someone also tell me how to disable automatic browse mode in NVDA?

Re: Windows Explorer

When you are on a filename, try right arrowing a
number of times and see if you can hear the information as you move. I am
not aware of any way to have that information automatically announced with
NVDA. If you don't hear it announced, we can try changing a view setting
to details in Windows Explorer.

I am using Windows 7 and the latest version of NVDA. Is there a way to get NVDA to display more information about files and folders in Windows Explorer? In Window-Eyes I have set it to display the Length, Date Modified and Size but cannot see a way to amend NVDA to do this. Thanks pele West

What happens if you scan that drive for errors? Check the system for malware using Windows Defender or whatever other tool you have on hand.

NVDA no longer reading emails one line at a time
Clive Lever
Hello all,
I have noticed this morning that NVDA no longer reads my emails one line at a time. I can read the whole message from top to bottom using the NVDA key plus down arrow. But can’t get it to speak one line at a time by using the down arrow on its own anymore. This is a nuisance when looking for a link or a specific piece of text within a message. What’s to be done?
I’m using MS Outlook in Office 365, Windows 10 and latest NVDA. The problem may have started after I did a massive clear-out of unwanted emails.
Thanks in advance, Clive

Well if you want to update windows you need to deactivate and reactivate anyway.Yes, but a thing is for example changing the computer. You change pc, or you want to format, and you know that you should be very careful with your data and license. Another thing is when your screen reader updates. This operation is made 2 3 times in a year and users make the operation without troubles or thoughts. Users don't expect that the voices stop talking! I don't know how we're going to handle this. Its why I spent the extra cash and got the sapi licences last year.

Re: Windows Explorer

You can get different information about items in file explorer quiet
easily when you use the view option 'details'. For this, type 'Alt' + ' 'V' to get to the view menu, and then 'd' to select the view mode 'details'. When you are in this mode, then you can easily move between different information (file name, last date of modification, file type, file size, etc.) with the right and left arrow keys. Actually, you can think of this view mode as a table, wh ere every row stands for one item, and every type of information for one column. So you use up and down arrows to move between items, and left and right arrows to move between types of information. Its why I spent the extra cash and got the sapi licences last year. True this meant I had to pay 185 dollars us for both synths eloquence and vocaliser, however the only time I need to deactivate is if the system dies which doesn't happen often or at least I hope it doesn't and when windows updates on feature updates. Which is twice a year. I need to deauth my itunes anyway every time to avoid issues so its not a big issue and it doesn't effect anything really. Atguys are a good reseller anyway. Now I would assume I'd have to deactivate every nvda update if things changed and since thats like every 3 months thats 6 times, and thats to many. Plus I can use my voices for everything else.

Hi,

I suppose it is not the same problem but my experience might help to throw some light on your issue. I had a problem with the voice settings with the new RC of NVDA in which I chose "Realtek Digital Output" as the output device. This worked for a while and then went silent and refused to speak when I booted the computer. I reset the output device to "Speakers (Realtek High Definition" and NVDA started speaking again and has not stopped since! I haven't used Revo uninstaller, but at a guess, given the (I'm guessing) purpose of the program - does Revo Uninstaller require admin privileges? And are you running a portable copy of NVDA 2019.3rc3? If yes to both of those, then it's (likely) just a limitation of the portable copy of NVDA, as per: https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/documentation/userGuide.html#PortableAndTemporaryCopyRestrictions If you install the RC then it should work.
