Which Edge, the one that comes with Windows or the new chrome version? I

have the one that comes with Windows. I could install Chrome I guess, or use Edge. But considering that Firefox works with everything else, I don't see why I should have to install/use another browser just for this one site. I mean, if that's what I have to do, I will. I'm just saying, I'd like to know why it doesn't work before I do that, because I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work. It worked before after all. Thanks for checking, I'm happy that there's a solution. It just bothers me to throw up my hands and go, that thing doesn't work, better use something else, when I can't see why the thing doesn't work. If for instance Edge and Chrome supported audio playback and Firefox didn't for some reason, OK, there you go, you have to use another browser. I'm off to check Edge, seriously, thanks! Huh! I guess it's the new chrome version of Edge, because I couldn't get it to work with the Edge in 1909 at all. So yeah. I'd really like to avoid installing a totally new browser for one single site, if I can help it.

Unfortunately, we now live in an age where one browser just doesn't fit all sites. Do you have any other browsers available? I can't click the play/pause button with the latest firefox either, but I can click it with google chrome, Microsoft Edge and brave. George

NVDA and Bandcamp.

I know I've asked about this before, but since I just got another thing I want to check out and can't, here goes again.
I'm using latest Firefox, 72.0.2, and NVDA 2019.2.1. What I used to do to make things play on Bandcamp was get to the play button, hit NVDA-numpad-slash, and then numpad-slash to play. That doesn't work anymore. Here's the thing I'm trying to check out. https://etrandelair.bandcamp.com/album/music-from-saharan-whatsapp If anybody knows/figures out a way to get these tracks to play, I'd really appreciate knowing about it. I used to check stuff out all the time and I can't now. It's really frustrating, especially in a case like this where the albums are only going to be available for a month and then disappear. I can't figure out if I want to buy them or not if I can't hear them.

Which face book site the main one at http://www.facebook.com or the mobile one at m.facebook.com which is more like a web page but more stripped down compared to the main one. There is a basic tutorial on how to use the main facebook site at http://www.accessibilitycentral.net/nvda%20tutorials%20for%20other%20programs.html it is off my website called accessibilitycentral.net You will need to jump down by headings until you get to the face book tutorials I think there is both a written one and a audio one there that may help. by the way not sure if it mentions the shortcut but sure it does when I wrote it you can use the nvda key + shift key + space bar to disable single letter navigation in face book. Use the combo again to make it work again. If you hit the normal keys nvda key and space bar it will go between modes so do not touch those ones unless you want to. But you need to change between modes to see some sections in face book. Hope it helps. Gene nz

Out of curiosity were they older versions of those browsers? or were they the latest ones? As in very old. I have seen it on my computer where I might of had a old version of some programs and after a windows update they disappeared it seemed they were not compatible with the new version of windows. The only fix was to grab the latest copies of them and install them and it has not done it since. I have seen icons disappear off the desk top after a major upgrade as well it seemed the only fix was to reinstall them to your pc I have had it not happen to me but have read about it on some computers. time Hello all,
I have noticed this morning that NVDA no longer reads my emails one line at a time. I can read the whole message from top to bottom using the NVDA key plus down arrow. But can’t get it to speak one line at a time by using the down arrow on its own anymore. This is a nuisance when looking for a link or a specific piece of text within a message. What’s to be done?
I’m using MS Outlook in Office 365, Windows 10 and latest NVDA. The problem may have started after I did a massive clear-out of unwanted emails.
Thanks in advance, Clive

Re: facebook site?
Gene
If you use NVDA key space bar to turn it off, it
shouldn't turn on again automatically. Use the same command to turn it on
again. If it still turns on automatically when you are on the same page,
there is a setting in browse mode settings, control insert b, to open the
dialog. I don't recall the exact wording, but you should know it when you
see it.

Could someone please explain to me how they manage to use the facebook site with NVDA? This site makes me want to smash my keyboard from frustration. Especially the group search feature In this site, browse mode enables itself automatically alot when it shouldn't, and NVDA jumps all over the page. Could someone also tell me how to disable automatic browse mode in NVDA?

Re: Windows Explorer

When you are on a filename, try right arrowing a
number of times and see if you can hear the information as you move. I am
not aware of any way to have that information automatically announced with
NVDA. If you don't hear it announced, we can try changing a view setting
to details in Windows Explorer.

I am using Windows 7 and the latest version of NVDA. Is there a way to get NVDA to display more information about files and folders in Windows Explorer? In Window-Eyes I have set it to display the Length, Date Modified and Size but cannot see a way to amend NVDA to do this. Thanks pele West

What happens if you scan that drive for errors? Check the system for malware using Windows Defender or whatever other tool you have on hand.

When selected, the error states something to the effect that the referenced file could not be found. I then looked on her C drive in the Program files and program files x86 folders to find the programs manually, and they are no longer present. I doubt that this had anything to do with the NVDA update and is simply coincidence, but I'm at a loss though to figure out what happened to the installed programs. Please share your ideas as to what you think may be going on here. The C drive is a solid state drive, and perhaps it is becoming defective? The second computer which has identical hardware and software and NVDA updates is working well. Thanks in advance for your help. Dennis
