Is your addon updater updated? If not, go update it and then try updating again.

Please consider the context and see what message is below the one you are responding to.  the comment had nothing to do with your post.  it was directed to another list member who made a comment about the form.

In addition, it isn't a question of presenting skill challenges.  If someone has problems working with radio buttons, they will have problems on all sorts of forms where they are used.

There is nothing on the form that is exceptionally difficult.  In my opinion, the answer is not to dumb down the form.  The answer is to present a link with instructions for those who don't know how to work with the form.  Doing everything for people leaves them unable to do anything.  Teaching people increases confidence, increases their ability to do more, and will help them in the future.  And that's why I sent a teaching message.

I hesitated to make the first comment  as I knew it would attract criticism of the skill level of people encountering difficulties of this kind on the site.

However for a final comment I would still say that presenting skill challenges for people on a donation page seems an odd approach, even if pointing this out draws some disparaging remarks  on skill levels of a list of this kind.

I will hold on any further comment now.

That's simply because you don't understand how it works. Of course the custom donation button is going to do that, because you left 200 in the edit box before it.

I see no reason it wouldn't be compatible with Windows 7.  The programming language has been updated, but that is an internal change and I don't think it would affect compatibility.  Also, you would expect that announcements would have been made about a lack of compatibility.  When NVDA became incompatible with XP, it was discussed here.

f the nativeaccess application will get better in terms of accessibility when used with nvda? I ask this question because i'm trying to see if nvaccess.org will fully support nativeaccess to help improve accessibility and see if certain keystrokes e will work as an example when while using nvda together with nativeaccess I find that when I try to perform a scan command by using insert+ the number 2 key nothing happens and when I use insert+r to perform a scan nothing is recognized. I don't know whether i'm using the correct keystrokes concerning this but I thaught that I would let you know about it maybe you might have some insight on this that i'm missing.

StationPlaylist and Windows 10 App Essentials 20.02 #addonrelease

Hello all,

StationPlaylist and Windows 10 App Essentials 20.02 are on their way (to be released to everyone on stable channel later today). Both releases require NVDA 2019.3 or later.

StationPlaylist add-on 20.02 includes enhancements to encoder support and introduces initial support for SPL Creator’s Playlist Editor. Windows 10 App Essentials 20.02 drops support for Windows 10 Version 1809 (October 2018 Update) and introduces support for Windows 10 Version 2004 (20H1).

I have posted an issue there but not addressed yet.

Its a pitty because right now thats the only addon not compatible right now.

Its true I am running dev releases of a lot of stuff right now but hopefully these translate into stable over the coming weeks.

Sorry for a message sent twice but I screwed up my words a little <grin>

Add-on Updater and NVDA 2019.3 add-ons: more add-on updates are on their way #addonrelease

Hello everyone,

First, on behalf of the NVDA add-ons community, I would like to thank everyone for your patience and encouragements regarding NVDA 2019.3 development. Now that 2019.3 (or rather, 2019.3.1) stable is out, more add-ons are making themselves visible via stable update channel. As such, if you are using NVDA 2019.3.x, please use Add-on Updater to update to compatible add-on releases.

NOTE: if you are still using 2019.2.1 or earlier, you’ll get a notice about add-on incompatibility when you update various add-ons. If you absolutely need to use NVDA 2019.2.1 due to important add-ons you’ve got, please DO NOT update add-ons. Going forward, most add-ons will require 2019.3 or later.

Another note: as I promised back in December 2019, Add-on Updater will be one of the last add-ons to require 2019.3 (last of my add-ons to require 2019.3.).

Thank you.

Cheers,

Joseph

Well after updating several addons, to the dev versions nvda and 99.9% of all addons are once again working.

I have had to disable autoupdater because report simbols, dropbox, and emoticons want to downdate to the stable versions.

Bar the interactive fiction addon that is

I have just coppied a couple of manafest lines from an addon to that one and its status is now enabled, however goes without saying that we need things to work  a bit better.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update - I mentioned on Friday that Microsoft had fixed their Defender definitions.  At the time it hadn't filtered down to me at least, although later on Friday it did and everything was fine again.  You should no longer have trouble installing NVDA 2019.3rc3 from: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2019-3rc3-now-available-for-testing/

If you are still having trouble using eSpeak on a previously installed or setup copy of the RC, you might need to install again, as Defender probably deleted the eSpeak.dll file (the file it was incorrectly flagging as problematic).

Also just to reassure everyone, there never was a problem with eSpeak or NVDA - there never was a trojan or malicious software, it was simply Windows defender incorrectly marking the espeak dll as problematic, even though there was nothing wrong with the file.

Kind regards

Quentin.

Just thought I'd post this as it is a first for me:  NVDA would not update from the "in NVDA" update process.  It failed and said to see the log.

I downloaded the new installer and that worked perfectly, and without having to uninstall the existing NVDA installation.  I probably should have posted this before going that route, as I believe I've probably now overwritten the log.  However, if the log is appended to, and anyone on the development team would like for me to send them a copy, just let me know.  I won't likely be using NVDA at all additionally today so the log is going to remain however it happens to be at the moment.

As a completely unrelated aside, can anyone tell me why NVDA announces, "Switch to USB Dialog Adapter Combo Box," as the first thing after starting virtually every time?  I've grown used to it, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it thinks it has focus on such that this is what is announced.  And that quote is verbatim.
