Re: how to disable announcing of battery charging/not charging
Quentin Christensen
I'd concur with wanting to get to the root cause - stopping NVDA reporting whether the battery is charging or not will only silence the symptom, not fix the problem. Check your battery, cable, transformer and power point. Make sure everything is connected tightly etc - if you can replace any one of those things conveniently, that can at least rule that item out (eg I expect you should be able to plug it into a different power point to see if it keeps happening, which will at least confirm the powerpoint is ok).

Re: Changed settings not working
Quentin Christensen
Here is an issue I created two years ago for this exact issue:
https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/7514 I don't know whether it is exactly the same underlying cause, but it certainly seems the same as what people are encountering now (From what I can tell, it didn't seem too widespread previously, but certainly a number of people have either commented on that issue or mentioned it here in the last day or so). If anyone can add anything new which might help narrow it down, do please comment on the GitHub issue: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/7514 Kind regards Quentin.

Re: should win 7 users upgrade to 2019.3.1
Quentin Christensen
Hi Mack, We'd encourage everyone to update to take advantage of the latest bugfixes and improvements. There are a bunch of things you might find useful, and you can read those in the What's new file: https://www.nvaccess.org/files/nvda/releases/2019.3.1/nvda_2019.3.1_changes.html The main reason you might run into problems with the new version, is if you are using old add-ons which have not been updated. You can find the official list here: https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/nvdapy3.en.html You can download NVDA 2019.3.1 and either select "Continue running" or "Create a portable version" if you'd like to try it out before installing over your previous version. Kind regards Quentin.

Re: NVDA with Password
Quentin Christensen
I must admit I hadn't paid attention to this, but I don't think you should hear "blank" when moving to the start of a piece of text. If you move the caret to the start of a field with text in it, NVDA should report the first character (the character to the right of the caret). If you are in a password field, NVDA should report "star" instead of the character. Just testing this now, NVDA 2019.2.1 seems to behave exactly the same for me? As in, I don't get "blank" at the start of the password field, unless the field itself is blank. Also, 2019.2.1 is a minor ".1" point release of the second main version of 2019, not February first, although I know Eloquence at least reads it like a date. Regards Quentin.

Can someone experiencing this please send a DEBUG level NVDA log to me at info@...? Also, out of curiosity, are the users of these Realtek cards with these problems also experiencing the issue with Pitch change for capitals not working? (I've had that reported separately and just wondered if they were connected or not) Regards Quentin.

Try turning off forms mode, NVDA key space, then
turning it on again, the same command, NVDA space.
But before trying that, try the command NVDA key
f5. That command refreshes what is displayed. It sounds as though in
chrome, the browse mode buffer isn't being refreshed to show when you take an
action such as check a check box.

Good Afternoon: Pico is an application that was written in unix. It's been years since I looked at this application. If you can find someone that is knowledgeable in Unix, they may be able to help. This is something you might wish to go to one of the blind programming list. It has been sometime ago, but the addresses of Blind Programmers and Programmers-l were given.
