I looked at the manifest for the voices I have installed, and it says that the last tested NVDA version is 2099.4, which does not exist. So, I'd assume these haven't been tested to work with the latest version as of yet.

The file is an MP3.  If you paste the address into your browser, then change the 0 at the end to a 1, and then press enter, the file will download from Drop Box without opening a Drop Box page.  People should make this change before they send a link they intend to be downloaded without Dropbox opening a page.

Was this link sent to the list in error?  It is a rock song with no relevance to this list.

As far as I know, to install an add-on in a portable version, you can't just press enter on it.  The whole point of a portable program is to run and not make any changes to the system it is running on.  If it told Windows to install add-ons with the extension used, that would be making a change in the registry.

I'm quite sure that you must use Manage Add-ons in the tools submenu of NVDA when installing to a portable version.

Yes, of course...

If you have an installed version of NVDA, even running a portable
version of NVDA, pressing enter in a *.nvda-addon file, the add-on will
be installed in the portable version.

If you do not have any NVDA version installed, to install a add-on, go
to add-on manager, go to install button and choose the add-on you want
to install...

Well, I guess I didn't know better, but I install add-ons to a portable version in the same way as with an installed version. I just press ENTER on the .nvda-addon and it installs to the running version. Updating add-ons works the same way for me.

Re: New Member Seeking Tutorials

Gene

Depending on how much you know about working with Windows and Windows programs and browsing, you may only need specific information such as how to use object navigation, and screen review.  The quick navigation keys for browsing will be very similar between JAWS and NVDA and my impression is that Window-eyes used roughly the same commands toward the end of its versions.

I can't suggest specific tutorials but that may help you know what to look for.

If you need more instruction, others can suggest a lot of material.

Hi,
Which browser are you using to download the add-on? If using Firefox (and possibly Chrome family), try pressing Control+J to access downloads and see if it shows up.
Cheers,
Joseph

Re: Question for NVDA Compiler Team?

Hi,

Compiler team, you say – I think you meant developers. If so, I think it will depend on market conditions and user demand in the future.

Cheers,

Joseph

Hi, I wanted to ask the ones on the NVDA compiler team this. I was thinking of using NVDA exclusively, well would use narrator as well too.  Do you see NVDA bein used for the long range future, Like LibreOffice has been? I know its been around since 2006, so that is a pretty good track record. I hope so!

Thanks, David
