JAVA And NVDA
Carlos
Hello All:
Does the JAVA runtime environment (x86/x64) need to be install separately in order to work with NVDA/JAVA application? There needs to be some clarification as far as NVDA having JAVA/JRE built-in or if NVDA just automatically loading the JAVA/JRE which is/has been pre-installed on a users on the PC either as OEM/user installed. If JAVA/JRE needs to be installed separately it needs to be specified to NVDA users instead of just saying that NVDA will load JAVA/JRE automatically! This might lead to some confusion with some NVDA users! I hope that NVDA developers or Joseph Lee will read this message and will provide some clarity in this matter. Thank You! to all who read/respond to this message! -- Carlos - Windows 10 Home, 64 Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 - NVDA Version 2019.3

yep, and what is really strange is that I installed
NVDA on the client pc along with remote. then I switched to NVDA after
disconnecting the tandem. As long as I was working on the client pc everyting
seemed fine. when I disconnected my pc started dragging. I had to reboot to get
back to normal.

I have not done JAWS tandem in a while. But when I do I switch back toNVDA and never had an issue. Do you have the NVDDA 2019.3.1 update?

Re: web page objects that require the use of the mouse

Have you used the NVDA add-on called Golden cursor! That add-on adds much more support for using the mouse, and allows you to use the arrow keys to move the mouse around the screen, and tells you where the mouse pointer is on the screen! Golden cursor is needed if you are really going to use the mouse! David Moore

Ok, I finally got back to this. I tried all the suggestions given and it still didn't work. I couldn't believe it was my system causing the problem so I decided to take a look in settings and make sure.
I made some changes that looked like they might affect the mouse tracking and other things and now it is working correctly. In fact, I don't even have to take any direct actions, when I move the focus to that line on the page it automatically reports the email address of the contact.
I really should have made one change at a time and tested each but I didn't so I don't even now for certain which changes fixed the situation. Shame on me. ;)
Thanks to all who provided some assistance.

I have a copy of OE that works just fine in windows
10.It does not ask for anything but your email information. It does have one
quirk. The shortcut it creates on the desktop is incorrect. Let me know if you
want it and I'll send a Dropbox link.

The commands have nothing to do with what you want
to do. Don't assume you are wrong when something doesn't make sense.
How did you search for the command? I'd
rather help you find it yourself than just give it since you may be better able
to find other commands in future. If you don't find a command, use less
words. In this case, you may have said route mouse. If that doesn't
find the command, just search for mouse. After about seven repetitions of
the search, NVDA key f3 to repeat the search, you'll find it. If you have
problems let us know.

I see you already know about the One Core

synthesizer.

You'd have to try. We don't know how you are
spelling the corrected spelling if you are using the default dictionary.
But NVDA has a voice specific dictionary. You can correct the
pronounciation using the dictionary for that specific ssynthesizer.

Hi Gerardo!
I suppode you have already done part of the work, since I didn't find any add-on with removal pendent or similar errors...
What I did was: Corrected the manifest.ini of the voices add-ons, since you still have the not corrected version, and install the driver add-on.
Best regards,

Rui Thanks a lot for your time! I had to step out for awhile to run errands, but I’m back, with the newsthat I’ve the Vocalizer voices working again! What was the problem with the voices, or was it with my NVDA? If ever needed, what files would I install in terms of the AddON and the voice packages? Thanks again! I really missed the Vocalizer voices to work with! IN case anyone has problems with there’s, I give you gren light to talk about on list what was happening with mine? To close the saga shall we say; I’d imagine I left everyone in suspense?

No, I haven’t experienced this, and I’ve switched between NVDA and JAWS on multiple systems.
Could it be related to Tandem? Are you sure that you’re terminating JAWS properly before starting NVDA? It’s Insert-F4 to exit JAWS; Insert-Q to exit NVDA.

If I have to switch to Jaws to tandem someone when I return to NVDA it feels very sluggish and I have to reboot my pc for it to be normal again. has anyone else had this experience? ******

Just now reading this topic. This is also occurring for me, and it started with the update to 2019.03.01. A great example in Chrome is in www.easychirp.com. When clicking "Reply" to respond to a tweet, the edit box doesn't show up until I switch tabs away from the page, then switch back.

Re: The period key not speaking
Quentin Christensen
When you say NVDA does not read the word "period", do you mean at all? As in if I wrote in fifth period I have math, it would read "in fifth I have math"? If that is the case, it sounds like you have a dictionary entry to replace the word period with nothing. In that case, press NVDA+N, then P then D then ENTER (we'll start with the default dictionary - if this doesn't work, try the same thing but instead of pressing ENTER here, down arrow once to "Voice dictionary" just in case). Arrow through the options and see what you have. If you have any you aren't sure of, press ALT+R to remove them (or ALT+E to edit them and fix them). Regards Quentin.

Yes with jaws, there are 3 levels of verbosity. There’s beginner, junior and advance.

Hi I may be totally off target here because it's a long time since I used Jaws but is this referring to the Verbosity level in Jaws? When I used it, there used to be 3 levels of verbosity you could set based on your proficiency, the higher the level, the less information about the environment inwhich you are focused is fed back to the user. You could possibly create something like this using profiles and Document formatting settings in NVDA.
