I think you are, indeed, on the edit box. Try this.

Press nvda plus space bar to turn on browse mode, then type the
information you want in the edit box.

I have the same issue on several sites' login screens and the above
works for me every time.

“Included in this package: ePub, HTML, Word Docx and kfx (Kindle).”

So yes it appears that you can use Word, or your web browser or eBook reading programs if you would prefer that.

I don’t know what the status of the mp3   material is.

Re: NVDA with Password

Dave Grossoehme

Good Day:  In February first if I backspaced out of the password field I would hear a blank for when you are at the beginning of the field.  Then the stars would start.  With March 1 if you make this same procedure you don't hear anything at all.  If you move forward you will hear the stars spoken.  It's like the backspace key would place you a character before the password field in your sign in location.

Dave

I must admit I hadn't paid attention to this, but I don't think you should hear "blank" when moving to the start of a piece of text.  If you move the caret to the start of a field with text in it, NVDA should report the first character (the character to the right of the caret).  If you are in a password field, NVDA should report "star" instead of the character.

Just testing this now, NVDA 2019.2.1 seems to behave exactly the same for me?  As in, I don't get "blank" at the start of the password field, unless the field itself is blank.

Also, 2019.2.1 is a minor ".1" point release of the second main version of 2019, not February first, although I know Eloquence at least reads it like a date.

Quentin.

can't go any farther back.  This blank help to know when you are at the
beginning of the field.  How does anyone else feel about this?  This

No there is no pr for this one.
But I strongly recommend to contribute with a pull request when adding support for a new braille display. Adding support through an addon will not offer that much flexibility when structural changes are planned in the future. And many people will prefer a screen reader which supports the display nAtively, especially beginners or people with no internet conection.

Hello Quentin and others

Our organisation, Blind SA, is the distributor for the BrailleMe in South Africa. Some months back we alerted Innovision, manufacturers of the BrailleMe, about the compatibility issue with Python 3. They gave us the assurance that the updated add-on would be ready by the time NVDA 2019.3 was released, but it has not happened yet.

We had a Skype conference with Shyam Shah of Innovision yesterday and addressed this matter with him. He informed us that they had submitted their add-on to the NVDA people who review and publish add-ons and that they were waiting to hear from you about the add-on.

I wish to hear from you if you can confirm that you have indeed received the add-on and are reviewing it and if you could give an estimate as to when it would be published. I told Shyam that I would check with you and will also forward your response to him.

I also posted this to the NVDA add-ons list. I received two responses there indicating that they don't know anything about an update to this add-on. One person wrote that the add-on might have been sent to you at NV-Access for possible inclusion in the NVDA core, but that is unlikely.

Do you know anything about an updated version of the add-on? This is becoming a real issue for those who have been using the BrailleMe with NVDA. I know the delay is not your fault; I am just trying to find out where the process is and when we could expect an update from the manufacturers.

There is no reason to not have access to the field you are working with.  Simply issue the command NVDA key f5 and the page will refresh.  When you alt tab away, then alt tab back, you are refreshing the page in the browse mode buffer.  That is exactly what NVDA key f5 does, but much more conveniently.

No, I haven’t experienced this, and I’ve switched between NVDA and JAWS on multiple systems.
Could it be related to Tandem? Are you sure that you’re terminating JAWS properly before starting NVDA? It’s Insert-F4 to exit JAWS; Insert-Q to exit NVDA.

If I have to switch to Jaws to tandem someone when I return to NVDA it feels very sluggish and I have to reboot my pc for it to be normal again. has anyone else had this experience?

Hello,
At my end I solved this misbehavior by disabling the extention Adblock Plus - free ad blocker. All back to normal for me right now.

Ralf

80 series of versions of chrome, its not updating itself when the page
updates itself or something like that.

Just wandered if people were aware of this.

I don't use chrome that extensively but still.

I hope there is a way to change the keys used for this command.  it conflicts with an NVDA command, control insert d, open the document formatting dialog.

press insert+ctrl+d. it will go to system tray and announce drop

Hello,

When pressing Alt+NVDA+D once, it announce the Dropbox status from its notifications area icon.

When pressed twice, it opens the context menu from this icon.

This version brings NVDA 2019.3 compatibility within staying compatible with previous versions.

hello all,

The addon Dropbox version 4.4 has been published.

The link to download it is: https://patrick.zajda.fr/nvda/dropbox-4.4.nvda-addon

Alternate link: https://github.com/Nardol/dropbox/releases/download/v4.4/dropbox-4.4.nvda-addon

Unfortunately, it looks like translations have been reduced to the name and description of the add-on. The messages from the add-on itself are in English.

Why? I don't know.

Best regards,
