loving the new NVDA update
Jimmy Vonderlinden
Just updated my NVDA to the latest version and I have to say i'm very impressed with it, especially with microsoft edge and the twitter website. Biggest change I have noticed is that quote tweet is no longer spelled out. It's a nice change. Hope all enjoy your day.
Just wanted to point that out for those who havent noticed

web pages not refreshing
Don H
Running NVDA 2019.3.1 on a win 10 laptop using either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge as my browser.
Running into more and more issues with web pages not being refreshed so that NVDA reads the new page after hitting enter on a link or other control. Have to use the alt tab keys to get NVDA back on the new refreshed page. Is this issue being addressed by the NVDA development team? Thanks

Did you close and restart NVDA after installing vocalizer and some voices?

changes in speech in NVDA 2019.3
Hi all,
does anyone know whether there have been changes to the speech processing part of NVDA in the 2019.3 update? I didn't spot anything in the change log, but I experience a couple of things that are different from the 2019.2.1 version. The first one is very minor ... when I tag an email in gmail so that it goes into an existing folder, I press c to go to the combo box listing all folders, then I press a letter corresponding to the first letter of the folder name - such as f for my Facebook notifications. Once focus is on Facebook I tab over and activate the Go button, which applied the label to the email. Since 2019.3 the letter I pressed (in this case f) gets spoken when I tab over to the Go button; this did not happen before 2019.3.If I need to press the letter more than once to continue past Facebook to Farming and then to Fiction, NVDA now announces "fff" which is mildly annoying! More of a problem is when I mistype words ... I regularly mistype because as becuase and words ending in tion as toin ... I suspect when I've done this and immediately select the word and retype it without presing space to move onto typing the next word. As a result the first mistyping doesn't get spoken straight away ... it gets spoken as I press space or punctuation ... and it merges the mistyped word in with the correct version, and they are seemlessly connected like they are one single word, becuasebecause ... the same happened in this post when I mistyped punctuation as puncutation and got "puncutationpunctuation" as a result. The only irritation with this is that it makes it difficult to tell whether the subsequent attempts at spelling the word correctly has removed the typo or whether it is still mistyped. I'm curious whether this is an intentional change and, if so, what the thinking behind it is. Giles

Re: Accessibility issues with latest potplayer, warn user not to upgrade to latest version
Is this an issue exclusive to Windows 10? On my Windows 7 PotPlayer seems to be accessible, even with the latest version. My laptop is running Windows 10 and I'm experiencing the same issue whereby the context menu is not accessible.
Update: I tried the earlier suggestion to change a skin setting, and it worked! Regarding the adware, the button to decline the offer is clearly accessible with NVDA. Just press enter or space on the decline button and you should be good to go.

NVDA 2019.3.1 Not saying selected and unselected
David Mackenzie
Hi,
With 19.3.1 and windows 10 (up-to-date) NVDA will not say selected or unselected on highlighted files/folders/shortcuts when tapping the space bar. If I do a quick search using the first letter, the first instance of a file/ folder/shortcut is selected, but not spoken by NVDA, I have to arrow down then up to confirm selection. All add-ons have been removed. The situation is the same when loading NVDA 19.3.1 onto a brand new computer. Reinstalling 19.2.1 resolves the problem. Any help is appreciated. Is this a bug or will changing a setting resolve this? Thank you, David Mackenzie

Hello.
Pot Player now have accessibility issues. A temporal solution is search the installer of a previous version and not update, but the developers now introduce this issues, and in 2018 this player not had a problem with NVDA. Regards.

Many thanks. Do you have any understanding of downloading from such website, is it safe? Usually there are some download site that will inject some extra malware or adware into the installers. David Griffith 於 20/2/2020 10:19 寫道:

'AppData' is a folder in your Windows user account home folder, and 'Roaming' is a folder within that. AppData\Roaming is where programs on your machine store data that is specific to your user account. The folder is normally hidden, and lives within your user account home folder. Pramit

Re: New Member Seeking Tutorials
Quentin Christensen
Hi Richard, Good questions! As David noted, the electronic text version comes as a zip file which includes the book as a web page (html), Word (docx), electronic book (ePub) and Kindle (kfx) formats - they are all identical, it's just up to personal preference which format you prefer to read. The audio and Braille versions were updated last year, just after we updated the electronic text version. We tried to keep them accurate for users with Windows 7 through to Windows 10 and the current (at the time) NVDA. So, it should give you enough information to be able to get to a program using the Start menu for instance, although it doesn't necessarily cover every new aspect of the latest incarnation of the Windows 10 start menu. Kind regards Quentin.

Re: Question to NV-Access developers
Quentin Christensen
Hi Christo, I believe Innovision have previously distributed their driver either directly with units, or via their website. Looking at http://innovisiontech.co/support/ I can see an NVDA driver there, however the link http://innovisiontech.co/wp-content/uploads/sites/6/2017/12/BrailleMe_NVDA.zip indicates it is from 2017. I haven't seen an updated driver myself, however as I don't have one of their units, and I don't compile code directly, I don't necessarily have a reason to have it. I'd suggest checking with them on where they are at. I know it is frustrating, and while I normally encourage everyone to use the latest NVDA, in a situation like this, there is nothing wrong with using NVDA 2019.2.1 until the new driver comes out. If you want to have the best of both worlds, you can have a portable copy of one version and an installed copy of the other - that way you can use the latest NVDA features from 2019.3.1, and still have access to Braille using 2019.2.1. Kind regards Quentin.
