I didn't think that keyboard keystroke existed? Windows f5 I mean. What does that do exactly. Do you mean control f5 to force refresh the page?

I don't think the speech refactor affects specific synths, so the
Espeak issues described here are probably the result of an Espeak
update or a subtle sound driver issue. I'm guessing though, so use

Re: New Goldwave addon

Hi,

Correct – support for GoldWave 5.x is no more. There is one line that must be changed to bring support for GoldWave 5.x back, but note that your modification will be overridden after applying new updates (the next such update is scheduled for end of this week).

Cheers,

Joseph

F5 does something different.  It reloads the web page in the browser.  It also causes the browse mode buffer to refresh because that is what happens when you refresh the underlying web page.  I would think that using f5 would have very undesirable effects when doing something like filling out a form.  I would think that refreshing the underlying page would remove all information you previously added to the form.

Yes, I have used the f5 key by itself with Internet Explorer, Firefox and chrome with nvda as my screenreader.
I have never experienced the need for a secondary key such as insert.

Chrome is still better than edge because its not edge.

To be honest, if I was going to make a microsoft brouser and was microsoft, I'd actually upgrade internet explorer and continue using the interface.

Only internet explorer asks you if you want to run a file rather than saving it with its infobar.

It also has no frills which is still while doing admin I still use it a load.

Well, both of these cards use the built-in Microsoft USB audio driver. I've got all the Windows audio enhancements disabled, because it seems that it is better for sound supposedly if you do that. I'm not sure what other implications that has though.

Re: changes in speech in NVDA 2019.3

Well lets see if it continues, I just got the latest driver with my card and its not doing it now and its a lot less allready.

So maybe eventually its going to go away.

I always get latest driver in fact things are a lot better now so who knows.

No, I haven't seen it with other sounds unless the sound card was previously asleep for a long period. It's probably a driver bug somewhere. It's not too severe, just a bit strange. So far I only notice it with nvda.

My guess is it's likely the driver - allowing the device to try to play sounds before it has properly initialised etc, and I doubt there is too much NVDA itself can do.
